Hi everyone. We just moved to Florida about 3 years ago. We used to live in Pennsylvania. I have not been too loyal to the Dis boards since we have moved. We are passholders now. Now it seems like we don't get any special rates or discounts. It was great every time we flew from pa to Disney. We also went when they offered free dinning. I just need some help with booking our resort and dinning options now being passholders. Am I right if we purchased the dinning plan.....does our stay have to be an x amout of days? I hope I am not getting everyone confused. Not feeling well tonight. I tool cold and flu medicine and I'm kind of feeling like I'm in la la land.

When you pay out of pocket for the DDP I don't think there is a minimum number of nights.

No, as a passholder you do not need to book a minimum number of nights to get the DDP. However, when you add DDP it becomes a package with a 45 day cancellation, whereas a room only reservation is only a 5 day cancellation policy and no fees for changes. We have found that the DDP just doesn't pay for us as passholders and FL residents. We have a Tables in Wonderland card (TiW) that we paid $75 for and save 20% at most TS meals for 13 months from date of purchase. No matter how I do the math we never make out better using the DDP.

You know it was always nice having the free dinning, like you said for your family it just doesn't seem all that great when you pay for it. We are a family of 4 my dd's are ages 10 and 7. So your talking close to $200.00 a day on to buy the dinning plan. My family doesn't eat that much a day. I wish Florida / passholders would at least get a discount on the dinning plans.

The other things to remember is to always look at all the discounts being offered when you are going. Passholder discounts used to come out first and be a little better than the general discounts, but not recently. But I always call and ask for the best rate and state that I am a passholder, FL resident, and dis visa holder. Remember when you got free dining you were paying full rack rate on the room and ha to purchase tickets. Now as a passholder hopefully you will be getting a significant discount on the room. Also remember to use your pass for the other benefits and savings, discounts on merchandise, parking (if you have an annual not seasonal), and of course our favorite discount....Ghiradelli :)

Gotta love ghiradelli!! Lol

Plus, most restaurants will give you 10% off. It is not a big discount, but anything helps @ Disney.

It would just be table service restaurants that would give the discount though. Right?

I know they give us a break on the tables of wonderland. Although it is rare when my family goes that we actually go to a table service restaurant. We live an hour and 10 minutes from Disney. We sometimes go for a long weekend and stay on property but that is maybe 2 times a year and for the hotels we use our military discount on the rooms. A much better discount then passholder would be. So basically our passes are used for admission into the Parks. We also have annual passes for Busch gardens( its only 20 minutes from where we live) . I like what they do....refillable mugs for. 95 cents on fountain drinks and also refillable pop corn for ( I think $1.05). Now you know Disney can afford doing the same thing. I think they would smart if they did do that. People would less likely bring food and drinks into the Parks
