We have been going to disney for 10 years now and we always get up as early as we can and go to bed as late as possible. We visits the parks every day. We have never been shopping and we have never had a rest day. We also never go back to the hotel for a rest during the day, the only rest we have is when we eat. So we live Disney to the full, (we understand that if you have very young children this is not always possible)
Yes we are in need of a holiday when we get home as we are exhausted but our view is we need to make the most of it while we are there as you never know when you might not be able to go back again.

Do you think we are mad and does anyone go with the same attiude?

I wouldn't call you mad - each to their own - but I couldn't take two weeks like that. We are more or less the complete opposite, we always take a break in the middle of the day and have one rest day to every two park days with a late morning after a late night.

We have done about 20 visits, mostly like yourselves, we don't shop just call after a park if we need things, don't have rest days but we have now in our 40's and decided to take things at a slower pace, last 3 trips taking time out to go see the resorts(at Xmas) trip to Savannah, Daytona, love to add a cruise to slow the pace.
This August got a great price with free DDP so going to make this a different holiday again making the evening meals a big part of the trip and taking time for food instead of just rushing it down and back in the parks.
Also after 2 years of AP's and no water parks included this year we have a 21 day ticket with water parks so will have a couple of days chilling by the water which we haven't done for a while.
We are just getting old:rotfl2:

I'm just like the OP, my mum got used to it but this time i'm dragging (with love) my DBF for the first time :goodvibes

He's not going to know whats hit him :rotfl: :rotfl2:

We used to be similar, we would be out at park opening and playing crazy golf at midnight, shopping in between after parks. Now that we have the kids we are going out a little later and returning a bit earlier, but not much - we plan on making them diehard Disney Freaks too! :)

We also live Disney to the full, well more me dragging the family with me :rotfl2:

This is partly because we have only been twice and this year will be our third trip, and this time being three weeks and will be doing SW/Universal/DC/BG.

Problem is we don't go often and may not go again for 2-3 years :sad2: so every hour is precious!

However what we do try to do, as Wayne mentioned, are the water parks. We don't do many of the flumes so these are chillout days for us as is Discovery Cove. Seaworld and Hoooywood Studios are more sit down that not.

So we try to schedule these days in between the more busy days or late nights. This year also having a couple of 'hotel' days

Long days!

That's one of the best things about WDW - everyone can do it their own way and at their own pace and all have fantastic but completely different holidays.

Time is short. We tend to wake without an alarm, have breakfast and hit the parks. We find time to shop and every day we are in one park or another. We too are in need of a holiday on our return but its well worth it. Many a night I have carried our son back to the hotel after he has fallen asleep in restaurants. For the dads out there the waitresses love it! Our attitude is we only have 2 weeks so make the most of it. However, saying that if our son feels tired we slow down. Thankfully he is like a Duracell battery so does not need a lot of rest. Disney, here we come December this year!!!!:cool1: :cheer2:

For me I feel as if I wouldn't be making the most of it because i'd be pushing myself to 'go go go' when i'm burnt out and in need of a rest, therefore wouldn't enjoy it as much We didn't bother with rest breaks at WDW but we did at DL and felt much better for it, but it was much quicker to just walk back to the hotel there which isn't really possible at WDW for most people.

We love Disney and tend to visit once a year but now we have children we take it at their pace. If it were just me and dh we would be at the parks all day then shopping all night ... paradise!

Our usual plan is to rise around 8am have a quick breakfast in the room then hit the parks. We return to the room around 4pm for a break then head back out for 6pm. We have a rest day by the pool or shopping twice a week to break it up otherwise by the time we go home i am ready for another holiday ... not always financially viable! My work mates don't understand why i am so lifeless after a 2 week holiday ... They are not Disney freaks obviously :thumbsup2

Agree with you here. We used to be out from 8am to park closing before the kids arrived. Now, we still visit every year but take it much slower. We often go back to the pool or go to the Lego shop at DTD.

This year we are going to Florida for 3 weeks so will do a few days at the beach, then a few days off-site before we settle in for 12 days at Old key West. :goofy:

I don't think we were that energetic even on our first visit! Nowdays we go to disney for rest and relaxation so definitely take it easier than that. We enjoy looking round the malls as part of the trip and always hire a car to explore new places and restaurants. There is nothing wrong with either way of treating the holiday. I will admit we got more laid back once we joined DVC as we knew there was another trip on the horizon........

We get to the parks before opening but tend to leave early afternoon for a rest and then go back in the evening. We also have rest or shopping days, I couldn't spend all day, every day in the parks, I like being able to relax as well. :goodvibes

We go to the parks every day unless weather is horrible but also enjoy a couple of hours here and there around the pool, mainly at night.
We never bother going shopping. It may be cheap to buy stuff in florida but to be honest if they were giving everything away we still wouldn't bother, DWs idea of hell is shopping.

we only really plan a day at each park (a full day at MGM 8-6, full day at MK 9-5, day at Epcot 12-9, day at AK 8-2) which fulfills all that we want to do in that particular park - e.g Epcot we do from lunchtime until the fireworks rather than going early, breaking midday and going back again.

With the 3 days we have left over from our 7 day tickets we choose to do some little extras if we feel like it - we've already done the MUST DO things on the planned days so these are for more leisurely afternoons really.

shopping is a must - cannot do the US without it, and water park for one day too.

We dont try to race around the parks too much - we know what the boys like and we stick to that, and if theres time left over and they're happy we'll do some more but I dont feel the need to rush and do everything thats on offer.

I can't say that I approach the parks like yourselves - but who cares? If it works for you then all the best! I like to get to the parks early and do the popular rides early doors, but other than that, I take it as it comes. If it's busy, then it's busy.

Myself, if it's too regimented, then it's more a chore than a holiday, but then I go in the less busy times so it's not an issue, it really is, horses for courses. Bottom line is as long as you enjoy yourselves.

that sounds like my average holiday in DLP, but the longest i've done it for is 5 days! I'm going on my first trip to WDW in august and the current plan is to live disney to the full, don't know if i have the stamina to do it for 2 weeks though! :lmao:
