Has anyone ever thought about living at WDW? My property tax bill and hydro bill came in today and my husband pointed out that we could live at a value resort for the same amount of money that we spend on mortgage, etc... He was joking of course, but it got me thinking. Has anyone ever done anything like that? He shouldn't plant these ideas in my disney-obsessed mind!

Please don't let my husband see this thread. He'll have the figures for me within the hour!! LOL!! :rotfl:

I used to live on the edge of Windermere on SR 535, less than 2 miles from the entrance to downtown Disney. But I am afraid it wasn't "cheap". :teeth:

Some of those US 192 motels are so amazingly cheap ($20 a night w/ a coupon) that I am sure people have had temporary residences there. Unless of course they have 30 day maximums.

I wonder what my DH would do if he came home tomorrow and there was a "For Sale" sign on the house??? :rotfl2:

I'll bet CTran would come with me! :rotfl:

I plan on buying a small motor home 1 day.
Parking it @ Fort Wilderness Campground.
I couldn't live @ a resort forever.
2 weeks a year is long enough.
I love my :cat: very much.

You could sell your house, get a tent, and camp at WDW. There is so much undeveloped property, I bet they would never find you! Unless the alligators do first! :rolleyes1

I've heard of some well-heeled DVC owners who are retired, and own enough points to stay at OKW from January through March every year -- it's their winter home! Of course, the annual dues are probably through the roof. But I could get used to living like that! :earsboy:

That's funny...but just realized true for us too...it would be cheaper for us to live at a value resort...and then splurge on a moderate on the weekends! lol....

There's a retired English woman who lives on the Queen Mary II. She added it up and found she could live for the same money on the ship and with that all meals are included and there is no cooking or cleaning for her, the ship's staff take care of all that.

I couldn't do it because I love my house and my animals. We have horses too...unless the horses could live at Fort Wilderness. Hmmm. Anyway, it's a fun idea. You guys must have high mortgages...good grief. Say the value resort is $99.00 a night x365 = $36,135 x 11% resort tax = $40,109.

I surely don't pay that much a year in mortgage/taxes, but then again..I live in NC where the living is easy. The fishin' is fine. Catfish are jumping. All that good stuff. I love it here, but our second home is indeed WDW! I've always dreamed of going for a straight 2 weeks and one day, I shall.

Hey that is why so many people moved to Celebration. They wanted to live at WDW.

Interesting thought...I mean, who wouldn't want to live in WDW?

I think I'd much prefer living in Cinderella's castle though :teeth:
