Has anyone been on the World of Beatrix Potter DCL port adventure out of Liverpool? We will be sailing on the 2019 British Isles cruise and my daughters (ages 5-8) love the Beatrix Potter stories and really want to see the World of Beatrix Potter exhibits.

Has anyone else done this excursion? Thoughts?

Does this excursion tend sell out? (I would think it would not be one of the more popular excursions, but we will only be silver CC...)

Generally, my preference for Europe ports would be to explore on our own or use a private/semi-private tour, but my research hasn't turned up other good options to handle the travel logistics from the Liverpool port to World of Beatrix Potter. Plus, my kids are excited to do the Peter Rabbit ceramic painting activity on the DCL excursion--although IMO the craft doesn't seem like that unique of a "signature" experience. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

While I cannot answer your questions, I would LOVE a Beatrix Potter excursion! And I'm all grown up now. :cutie:

I can't help on if I've done it or not but I think it sounds good....only problem is DS is too young for this port adventure. I can help you on if it sells out or not - we are on this cruise this fall and is not sold out so I think you will be good.

I can't help with planning, but it sounds like a great place to visit! I loved those books when I was little. :goodvibes

I'm planning for an upcoming Magic cruise and in similar fashion there's a museum we want to visit that's not in walking distance and in this case the DCL excursion just makes it look so easy to get there so I booked it. Most days I booked something private, but sometimes it's just easier to go through DCL.

I'm glad to hear that selling out is not likely to happen before my booking window. Thank you for looking into that for me!!

I'm from the UK and have been to the World of Beatrix Potter a few years ago. It's a lovely place to visit. The small town where it is - Bowness on Windermere is lovely too!
I'm not sure what the excursion includes but Ambleside, and trip out on a boat on Windermere is well worth it. For lunch there is really nice bar / grill called the Village Inn. There is also a very nice ice cream shop just on the left side of the hill as you walk down towards the lake!

The area sounds lovely. I am excited for us to see a bit more of England since our pre-cruise time will be in the London area. Looking forward to this excursion!

Wife and I are in our 70's and have many B. Potter's books...very worn, but still readable and adored. We would love to see where Peter Rabbit and friends got their start. Is Mr. McGregor still there?? Did Peter get his jacket back?? Have Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail taken off on their own adventures?? Inquiring minds want to know!!

Haven’t done DCL excursion but have been to Beatrix Potter World a few years ago. I honestly think you might be disappointed as you can walk round the attraction in 20 mins. I remember thinking it was a bit of a rip off. If the excursion also included trip to Beatrix Potter’s home, it might be worth it. The surrounding Lake District is very pretty but be aware it is a good hour and a half away from Liverpool and roads in the Lake District are very windy.

would love to do this port adventure. but why is it only offered for age 5 and up? My four year old would love this tour as she loves the Beatrix Potter books.
