You have all probably seen on the news about Bob Geldof organising Live8 on July 2nd :) I was only 11 when the first one took place but I remember watching it on the TV!!

Artisit's lined up are Coldplay, Keane, Madonna, Robbie Williams and Elton John :) I am a tad upset that my favourites Bon Jovi will be playing in Phillidelpia and not London though LOL!

Interesting that it is a text message lottery to get tickets though. As it is so close to us seeing U2, unfortunately I think I will be watching it on TV again :(

It sounds great doesn't it ? I heard on Richard & Judy that they're hoping that the Spice Girls will reform for it (that could be interesting)

I'm sure it will be brilliant, but I can't see it being as good as the original - for a start we won't have the wonderful/legendary Freddie Mercury (who stole the show last time)

Get yourself to Philadelphia then, woman ;)

Line up looks great (as it should be) but it's fantastic to see so many stars supporting this :)

Obviously it's not the same as with Freddie in '88 but hopefully Queen + Paul Rodgers will perform in London; they're in Lisbon for a show that night but they might be able to do what U2 are doing (who are also performing elsewhere that evening) and fly form London after their set. Bob Geldof said something about other artists "having other commitments but they're trying to work around it" or something similar (apparantly) so lets hope that Queen (or at least half of them with John now in retirement) can be there to steal the show again!!

Tam and I were at the original Live Aid at Wembley and it was one of the most memorable days of our lives.
I'll never forget leaving the stadium and hearing thousands of people singing 'Feed The World' as they made their way home.

I won't be applying for tickets for the new version as we have so much on in the next few months including seeing The Beautiful South, REM and Green Day. It should be another great occasion though.

Kevin,

Where are you seeing Beautiful South? I'm going to Bedgebury on June 11th. Used to see them alot but haven't been for a few years. Should be good though I've heard they're still really good live.

I'm hoping to be in Edinburgh on July 2nd, at the Make Poverty History march. My church has been involved in this issue for a while now and people have been wearing the white band for several months.

Text message lottery - the wonders of modern technology :) .

We are going to see them at Westonbirt Arboretum which is just a couple of miles up the road for us.
We saw Jules Holland there last year and it's a spectacularly beautiful setting.

We will be watching on TV, since all the pennies have been set aside for vist to DLP on 6th July :)

Should be excellent, I'll be applying for tickets along with the rest of the world, we can all look back again in 20 years and say' do you remember where you were on live 8 day?'

I'll be getting someone to text for me but it seems a bizarre way of doing it. Given that it will be £1.50 for each message then I suppose this is how they will raise their money.

I just fear many will make their way onto ebay and people will be paying silly money (fair enough but it could be better going towards charities).

I've just heard The Cure will be playing!! I want to go!!!

Shame that other charities will lose out once again because money will be plowed into the big events. Cant knock the reasoning or the entertainment but most charities will be dreading this.

As far as I know, apart from the text messages Live8 won't raise any money- just awareness.

I would have loved to have been at this!!!! BUT I'll be in the world that day. Pity we cant have it all though :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I will be much happier if that is correct Splash.

Sorry i know there have been other posts, but Bon Jovi in Philly? Where is the justice :Pinkbounc Oh well... what a great lineup though. Yes, I will be texting as will everyone I know. Wouldn't it be nice if they set up a charity line so you could choose to give if you wanted to though? I know there are lots of various charities set up already but I do think that this will be such a publicised event with such a huge audience that it would be a great chance to raise more funds.

Fingers crossed for monday DISers,(wouldn't a DIS meet at Live8 be something?)
