Hi everyone! This morning we went to the CL lounge for breakfast, the same old stuff that has been out the last few days was awaiting us but today the bagels were drier and the bananas were riper.

DH had corn flakes and melonOJ and coffee, I had raisin bran and a banana and an ice tea....real boring stuff. I am really jonesing for some scrambled eggs! I did book a breakfast for Kona on Monday morning and I really hope we can get to it, how sad would it be to stay at the Poly for a week and not make it to Kona for breakfast?!

The weather was very cloudy this morning and I asked him what he wanted to do..so we played BUS ROULETTE...whatever bus came first is which park we were going to go to...seeing how we were going to Ecpot tomorrow and did HS yesterday I was hoping for DTD or AKL...AKL it is, the very first bus that arrived.

Dinner012-3.jpg

The sky started to clear and the park looked super busy but we walked on everything except Everest and Kali River Rapids, we skipped those.

First up was the Safari ride, we are so spoiled because in Oct 08 we stayed AKL CL and did the Sunrise Safari where they stop the buses and all the animals are out and the pictures we have are incredible. There were hardly any animals out at all...DH said that if they are on the payroll the boss better tell them to make an appearance!

After the ride I needed some water and DH wanted a snack. He had a Vitamin Water - I never have any drinks in our house except for water and brewed ice tea so when he gets the chance for soda or sugary drinks he goes for it! (Also we never eat like this at home so we totally make up for it on trips). Of course, a pretzel was in order.

Dinner003-2.jpg

I knew I wanted to save my calories for the Frozen Chai from the Andapur Tea Company, it has been 10 months since I sucked my last one down and I was thrilled to get it again...until the first sip...they have changed the recipe and now it tastes like I am drinking frozen flower milk..it was gross and DH tasted it and he spit it out...it is bad bad bad

Dinner007-3.jpg

Dinner004-3.jpg

Dinner005-3.jpg

The taste was stuck in DH's mouth and he claims he had to eat something quick to get the icky taste out...funny how the CS right across the street was Y&Y and they just happen to have egg rolls...which hubby loves. There are 2 to an order for under $4. He loved them but they were super greasy since they came right out of the fryer so I had to blot them with napkins. I dont like them but that was fine because more for him

Dinner008-3.jpg

And then it was time for lunch...DH had his heart set on the BBQ beef sandwich from Flame Tree BBQ but guess what, they no longer serve that :scared1: He was not thrilled but since we were already there he ordered his next favorite, BBQ chicken. It came with bean and cole slaw. The chicken was unbelievable, super moist and flavorful, very tender and delish...I helped him out on this one. THe cole slaw was crunchy and sweet and creamy, the beans were nasty.

Dinner009-3.jpg

I had the BBQ pork sandwich with cole slaw instead of beans and onion rings to share. The pork sandwich was full of flavor and super moist and tender and the bun was not whole wheat! It was a regular white hamburger bun! Why cant they do that in all the CS spots? The cole slaw was great and the onion rings were to die for...not greasy, just crunchy and soft onions and we had to fight to the death with the ducks and birds to save our food! We ate faster than we would like because these suckers were going for blood!

Dinner011-3.jpg

Dinner010-3.jpg

Flame Tree is excellent, never had a bad meal here! Wish there was food like this in every park...I could eat the pork sandwich all the time!

Before our late dinner we went to the lounge to check out this evenings appies, the minute we opened the door to the lounge (from the 3rd floor) the overwhelming smell of fish hit us, it was sooo gross! They had the same Uncrustables, Hummus and Pitas, pineapple and caramel sauce, same cheeses, crackers and assorted berries and grapes.

THe new items were BBQ pork, bacon wrapped scallops and pineapple veggie gazpacho.

Dinner014-3.jpg

Dinner015-3.jpg

We didnt eat anything, mostly because it didnt appeal to us and we had ressies at Citricos and didnt want to fill up.

Now it is dinnertime, I was so looking forward to this meal! We rested all afternoon, borrowed a movie from the CL lounge and just hung out in the room for a while so we were ready to enjoy our night!

We made it to the GF with plenty of time to spare, and sadly there are still zero decorations up at the GF...just the gingerbread house. I was hoping there would be a PhotoPass there but there were just a ton of people all getting in each others way trying to get the perfect shot.

THe band was playing but no Xmas carols so that was a bummer too. The floorwork is all completed and the lobby was slammed with people.

We made it to our Citrico's ressie with plenty of time to spare and just sat down in the bar and ready to order a drink when we were shown to our table. Here is the menu at the bar.

We were led to our table that had a great view of the GF pool, the bar, the open kitchen and the entire dining room. Personalized menus too!

Our server was Cara, she was fantastic, very attentive and apologetic because the food was slow to come out because they were short staffed and she said booked solid but we saw alot of other tables turn over very fast and alot of empty tables. It was fine with us because we were just relaxing and enjoying each others company.

DH had the Magicale Brachetto, a red sparkling wine with cherry and berry flavors, he loved it and actually prefers it to Rosa Regale...now I need to find this and buy it for him.

Dinner031-3.jpg

I had my first Magical Star Cocktail of the trip and it was goooood!

Dinner033-3.jpg

The butter was nice and creamy and sprinkled with salt. The bread was eh...a heavy flax seed and a sun dried tomato dense bread that tasted like pizza...I didnt like either but Todd liked the tomato one

Dinner024-3.jpg

Dinner025-3.jpg

We were so torn on what to order for appies...I wanted one of everything but Todd reminded me that I would not have room for dessert so I decided on the squash and ricotta ravioli...oh...my...goodness! There may be just three but did they pack a huge punch! So much flavor, the fig, the sauce, the squash...it was all too much, I was thrilled to my toes with happiness and sad at the same time that I had to surrender one to my beloved. The things we do for 2 extra nights at the Poly CL :guilty:

Dinner034-2.jpg

Todd shocked me and had the potato leek soup...are you kidding me? No salad? No crab? No shrimp? Come on order something that we cannot get just anywhere will ya? But on no, he was dead on for this one let me tell ya! The boy has brains...just not on the soup, we had them leave those off :rotfl: Cara brought out this bowl with purple potato cubes and 2 thin strips of chorizo and a drizzle of chorizo oil and she had a little pot of the soup with her and she poured the soup over the items in the bowl. This was insane...the flavor was mind blowing and I made him share with me....it was soooo good I cannot describe it to its worthy.

Dinner032-3.jpg

DH had the filet since he was so disappointed in Jiko..he was a bit leery on this too. He ordered it med but it came out med well which is exactly how he loves it and how I do not, I like med rare but that is an entirely different topic! He LOVED this! The meat was amazing, the flavor was so off the charts intense and Italian! It looked so tiny on the plate but it filled him to the brim and he licked the plate clean, so to speak!

Dinner035-1.jpg

I had the chicken even though I wanted the pork...I dont know why I ordered chicken, it just came out of my mouth and that is what she wrote down so that is what I was stuck with...DH looked at me and said why did you get chicken, we had that for lunch? I dont know the little woman inside of me took over and told me to get the chicken...I should listen to her more often as this was the best chicken ever! So moist and tender and packed with flavor that I cannot describe. It was huge too! THe pasta was cooked perfectly, the artichokes were to die for, the flavor was over the top and the portion was gi-normous! DH had to fork dive my dish and he loved it until he got some pasta with the pesto sauce on it and then he quit.

Dinner036-1.jpg

By now we are stick a fork in us done but desert was a must, even if it was just one dessert for us to share.

Dinner037-2.jpg

Dinner038-1.jpg

Dinner039-1.jpg

We had the pressed pot of coffee and DH ordered another Magicale and we were happy...REAL COFFEE! Honest to goodness sweet nectar of the caffeine how do I love you! It yielded 2 huge cups..YES! And to top it off the coffee came with housemade biscottis! I dont eat them but DH loves them and he said they were terrific!

Dinner041-1.jpg

Dinner040-1.jpg

Dinner042-1.jpg

I let lover boy pick the dessert and he ordered the Honey Spice Cake...I am officially in love  This was the most Fall-ish dessert ever and it was perfect for me. The cake was so moist and creamy and the sauce was the bomb...fresh whipped cream and spicy pears and sweet and mouth popping cranberries..this is what I want at the end of every meal! We should have ordered two as we had dueling forks for a while

Dinner043-1.jpg

Dinner044.jpg

In conclusion, Citricos is a food lovers dream come true and as we were finishing our meal DH was quick to tell me that this is his second favorite signature, behind Flying Fish of course :thumbsup2

Oh how I love Citricos!

I just had the same chicken dish 3 weeks ago! It was wonderful then and it looks wonderful now. My grandma had that same Honey Spice Cake you guys had - except they put it on this long rectangular plate and her sauce was in a separate dish. When she got it I thought the same thing - it's such a perfect autumn dessert!

That Magicale Brachetto looks and sounds wonderful! I don't think I've ever even seen a sparkling red wine before. I want to try that AND The Fairy Tale!!!

Loving your reviews!
Citrico's looks so good, might have to add it to my ADR list for May

I just have to say it looks a little strange to see your actual last name on your menu. Here I thought everyone referred to you as Mickeynicki and Todd.
Happy Anniversary!
