Hi everyone! This morning we went to the CL lounge for breakfast, the same old stuff that has been out the last few days was awaiting us but today the bagels were drier and the bananas were riper.
DH had corn flakes and melonOJ and coffee, I had raisin bran and a banana and an ice tea....real boring stuff. I am really jonesing for some scrambled eggs! I did book a breakfast for Kona on Monday morning and I really hope we can get to it, how sad would it be to stay at the Poly for a week and not make it to Kona for breakfast?!
The weather was very cloudy this morning and I asked him what he wanted to do..so we played BUS ROULETTE...whatever bus came first is which park we were going to go to...seeing how we were going to Ecpot tomorrow and did HS yesterday I was hoping for DTD or AKL...AKL it is, the very first bus that arrived.
The sky started to clear and the park looked super busy but we walked on everything except Everest and Kali River Rapids, we skipped those.
First up was the Safari ride, we are so spoiled because in Oct 08 we stayed AKL CL and did the Sunrise Safari where they stop the buses and all the animals are out and the pictures we have are incredible. There were hardly any animals out at all...DH said that if they are on the payroll the boss better tell them to make an appearance!
After the ride I needed some water and DH wanted a snack. He had a Vitamin Water - I never have any drinks in our house except for water and brewed ice tea so when he gets the chance for soda or sugary drinks he goes for it! (Also we never eat like this at home so we totally make up for it on trips). Of course, a pretzel was in order.
I knew I wanted to save my calories for the Frozen Chai from the Andapur Tea Company, it has been 10 months since I sucked my last one down and I was thrilled to get it again...until the first sip...they have changed the recipe and now it tastes like I am drinking frozen flower milk..it was gross and DH tasted it and he spit it out...it is bad bad bad
The taste was stuck in DH's mouth and he claims he had to eat something quick to get the icky taste out...funny how the CS right across the street was Y&Y and they just happen to have egg rolls...which hubby loves. There are 2 to an order for under $4. He loved them but they were super greasy since they came right out of the fryer so I had to blot them with napkins. I dont like them but that was fine because more for him
And then it was time for lunch...DH had his heart set on the BBQ beef sandwich from Flame Tree BBQ but guess what, they no longer serve that
He was not thrilled but since we were already there he ordered his next favorite, BBQ chicken. It came with bean and cole slaw. The chicken was unbelievable, super moist and flavorful, very tender and delish...I helped him out on this one. THe cole slaw was crunchy and sweet and creamy, the beans were nasty.
I had the BBQ pork sandwich with cole slaw instead of beans and onion rings to share. The pork sandwich was full of flavor and super moist and tender and the bun was not whole wheat! It was a regular white hamburger bun! Why cant they do that in all the CS spots? The cole slaw was great and the onion rings were to die for...not greasy, just crunchy and soft onions and we had to fight to the death with the ducks and birds to save our food! We ate faster than we would like because these suckers were going for blood!
Flame Tree is excellent, never had a bad meal here! Wish there was food like this in every park...I could eat the pork sandwich all the time!
