Big news! New, ultra-exclusive ABD itinerary just announced!
I'm extremely lucky that with the title of Senior Correspondent for the DIS Unplugged comes certain benefits. This is one of them. Recently, Corey and Pete mentioned a new ABD itinerary and asked if I was willing to test it out. I jumped at the chance. They asked me not to mention the trip until now because there was concern those DISers that booked the ABD California Backstage Magic Trips this year might be a little disappointed they didnt have the option to choose this new option. However, because all those trips have finally departed, Im free to announce this double, super-secret ABD family vacation.
Yes, Im talking about the much rumored, highly anticipated Adventures by Davey Backstage Family Squabble Vacation to California.
OK, OK Yes, I could have gone on the DIS Unplugged ABD California Backstage Magic trip that started on July 31. However, once *NikkiBell* signed up, I was worried about just how exclusive a group this really was.
I mean, come on, have you seen the pictures posted on Facebook of the ABD DISers primping in the bathroom? Now tell me youre not thinking of Snooki from Jersey Shore? Come on, I know I wasn't the only one
No, I needed something much more exclusive, and then it hit me! An Adventure by Davey would only include my family. Yes, why listen to squabbling kids from other families, when I have my own squabbling kids who have perfected it to a high art.
The Adventures by Davey trip includes all airport transfers we will see how many family members with luggage fit into my sister-in-laws Prius in order to avoid the exorbitant rental car rates at LAX. Heck, if we all dont fit, the kids can wait with their luggage. Well be back to pick them up eventually. We have to fly out of LAX, so we can always retrieve them when we depart its only 2 weeks.
The Adventures by Davey trip also includes deluxe accommodations children receive their own cozy spot on the floor in the Cool Aunts LA apartment, while my wife and I share the bridal suite futon. Now dont get me wrong, we wont be staying in the hip LA flat the entire 2 weeks. Our Adventures by Davey itinerary includes an excursion to San Diego where we will pamper ourselves in style sleeping in a tent amongst wild animals. [You think Im kidding? Just wait.]
Another advantage of the Adventures by Davey trip is the exclusive ABD Guide who escorts you every step of the way. The Adventures by Davey Guide is named Dad, and is a renowned expert on everything. See, I get intimidated by actual experts so if Im the only expert around, no one can correct me when Im wrong. Im free to pepper my family with all sorts of inane facts and miscellaneous details.
When in Disneyland at the Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor, I can say Girls, do you see that large walk-in freezer back there? Thats where Walt Disneys frozen head is stored.
Or when at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, when we see the cheetahs Ill point out did you know cheetahs can reach speeds up to 80 mph? They cant go faster than 80 mph though because they will disappear and go back in time.

The adventure departs on Tuesday, August 9 for Los Angeles, and we take in the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, SeaWorld San Diego, and Universal Hollywood before heading to Disneyland for the D23 Expo. We return with or without all family members (its up to them) on Tuesday, August 23.
