“Girls, do you see that large walk-in freezer back there? That’s where Walt Disney’s frozen head is stored.”

Or when at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, when we see the cheetahs I’ll point out “did you know cheetahs can reach speeds up to 80 mph? They can’t go faster than 80 mph though because they will disappear and go back in time.”

Please warn your attendees to not drink during the tour. I almost needed to clean my computer screen.:surfweb:

And so it begins… our ultra-exclusive ABD itinerary has started.

Look at the excitement on Evie’s (DD10) face as we arrive at the airport for the start of our vacation.

The glamours of air travel. We arrive at the airport in plenty of time for our departing flight, walk up to the desk, to be welcomed with, “oh, your flight is canceled.”

Ummm, OK, thanks for telling us. It’s funny, how many e-mails do you get from airlines announcing every 15 minute change in your itinerary? But something like your flight is canceled, nah… we don’t need to know about that.

Look at the excited faces now for our ABD trip. Yes, these are memories that will last a lifetime...

No worries, it’s only our connecting flight that is canceled. Evidently there are severe thunderstorms in Newark. So we get re-routed to… Philadelphia. Yes, that’s right. Suuuure, that won’t be a problem. If it’s raining in New Jersey, there won’t be any problem in Philadelphia. That’s a whole ‘nother state away.

And so it begins…

Well, of course it won't be raining in Philly. It's ALWAYS Sunny in Philadelphia. Geez...

Looking forward to lots more!

Ooh boy!! Thanks lol :upsidedow!! You are off to an great start and I can't wait to read more however I fear for the rest of my life I'm going to think of what you said when I visit the Gibson Girls Ice Cream Parlour :scared1:! I might even avoid it from now on;)!

However if you have as much fun on your trip as we had in the bathroom of Steakhouse 55, then you are going to have a good time :lmao:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

And, I would just like to point out that Mrs. Julie Martin was in that pic along with Paula and I. Sounds like an exclusive, must be on trip to me....:rolleyes1

No t-storms in Newark. We just had rain and a threat of t-storms (I'm 30 min from Newark). Sunshine now! Be grateful you didn't have to go through that airport though. ;)

We're sitting on the tarmac in Philly to come to LAX. A storm is rolling in, and I'm hoping we get out. The skies have opened up, and we're getting pelted with rain. Lightning strikes all around.

We'll get there eventually...

Just keep sitting...
Just keep sitting...
Just keep sitting, sitting, sitting

Still on the tarmac in Philly.

Eeeeekkkkkk! I hope you are in the air by now! That's so irrating!

Have a safe flight!

We made it! Finally, on the ground in LA. It's been a long travel day, but it's good to be here in California.*Need to get sleep now...

Good morning everyone. We're just waking up after a really long travel day yesterday. However, I can't believe how California is welcoming us for our ABD Trip.

It said Nikkiwood last week. :rotfl2:
Nooooo! I thought I was special!

Day 1 of ABD trip starting with our trip to and tour of the El Capitan Theatre... finally going to see Cars 2. Nice way to warm up to our trip.

Not much, if any, buzz about Cars 2, let us know what you think....

Will you be going to watch Jimmy Kimmel clean his nails? :cool2:

On day 1 of our ultra-exclusive ABD (Adventures by Davey) trip in California we went to Hollywood to check out the El Capitan Theatre. Again, everyone's been so welcoming on our trip - check out the marquee of the theater.

Seriously, the El Capitan was great, and we were met by the general manager of the theater who gave us a tour and the history. He was hired by the El Cap in the late 80's when the theater was bought by Disney, and he was directly part of the rennovation/restoration of it. It's such an impressive venue.

After the tour, we watched Cars 2. I felt a little funny being in this great new city, and the first thing we do is see a movie that we could have seen at home. However, we were all pretty exhausted from traveling yesterday, and this seemed like a good way to ease into vacation.

I have to say, we thought the movie was just OK. Cars wasn't one of my favorite Pixar movies, and this was an adequate sequel. Even Maggie, DD13 just thought it was an average movie. Evie (DD10) did really like it though.

The cool thing was, after the movie we could go behind the El Capitan Theatre to the Cars 2 "World Grand Prix" attraction. This was a whole outdoor interactive attraction built on the football field of Hollywood High School. It was such a gorgeous day, and it felt great to be outside.

Of course, the characters were there, and you could pose for pictures with Lightning McQueen, Tow Mater, and Finn McMissile. The full-size Lego Lightning McQueen was there too - very cool!

There was a cool "time trial" race track set up where you could race on pedal cars and tricycles. Evie and I raced each other on trikes and just laughed and laughed. In the "Paris" section you could bungee jump.

I didn't know bungee-ing was big in Paris, but hey, what do I know? And after we were done, we topped it off with a stop at the Disney Soda Fountain for a milk shake and sundae snack. Well, that's it for today. We're having dinner at the "Cool Aunt's" house, and we'll all turn in early.
