Live Report from Barb & Tony's Wonder Three-Peat

Hi Barb & Tony! We were talking about you guys yesterday on our ride home from WDW. I mentioned to Peter that you guys must be on the threepeat right now. Boy are we jealous! Glad things are going good and I hope you get the picture on this cruise.
Enjoy!

hiya Katie...
how was WDW?????
i bet it was GREAT....
and speaking of jealousy, i'm jealous of you too....
you can just hop in the car and drive down to my favorite place in the world.......boy would that be great..

The coffee bar is on Deck 9...it's not something new, just something being renovated. It also has tea and water...very handy! Tony and I just spent a relaxing morning in the Rainforest pretending that it is a day at sea. Palo last night...mmmmmm! They are adding a new mashed potato item to the menu (sort of like twice baked potatoes) and it is OUTSTANDING!! Better run as the minutes are ticking!

oh...you mean THAT coffee bar...
i thought you meant a starbucks kind of place....now that would be perfect...
i don't drink alcohol (not even one little sip of wine or beer)...i'm more the latte kind of person....(couldn't you tell when you met me????)...
i would just love a coffee bean or starbucks...(i prefer coffee bean, but i'll suffer with starbucks if i have to)..
and being the nightowl that i am, a 24 hour coffee house would be dreamy....(the last night of the cruise, my daugher and i searched the boat for 'action' to no avail....so we had to throw in the towel and go to sleep....)

....And yes, there HAVE been more than two people in the surial...three and even four! Before everyone's imagination starts running wild, we were told that sometimes it is families (i.e. moms and sisters) who do it as a group.....

.....and speaking of spa treatments...good thing you corrected my runaway imagination about the 4 person surial bath....i was definitely having some very undisneylike thoughts...

Different strokes for different folks, as they say. Personally the thought of a combination of any of my three sisters, mom and myself going to the Surial bath together leaves me preferring the other more imaginative "undisneylike" case scenario!

Do you need to make advance reservations for the Segways? I know DH will simply HAVE to try it out! How exciting! Did they take reservations for these, or do you just have to wait in line?
Thanks,
Debra

I just called about the Segways at CC and the reservation line people don't seem to know anything about them being available to passengers. So right now, you can not make advance reservations.

Barb, could you reserve them when you got on the ship?
Thanks!
Debra

Hi Barb: We were with you on the Aug 29th cruise. You might have seen us. My little cousins were the ones to do the countdown right before boarding. We had an awesome time. I'm glad you're having a good time. Hope you continue with the great weather!!:D

Yes, Christy, I'm sure we saw you because we saw the countdown...that's always so cool! We also met HappyGilmore today at the CC party and she gave me the cutest pin! She is so sweet.
No advance ressies for the Segways. It's first come first served, and there hasn't been a big crowd on Castaway Cay. We did them again today.
A change to ladies night...they take more people now, as they do the whole treatment (facial, massage) in a treatment room and then turn you loose in the Rainforest with the champagne.
I'm happy to report that our CC streak has continued...a light drizzle at lunchtime that we managed to chase away with pixiedust.
Better run...internet time is ticking!

hi barb and tony , i wished i knew what you looked like, i was with the 1st john travolta, corey from ct, my daughter tinkerbell in neverland was the girl with the long blonde hair, that was with us, everyone reconized our little john travolta all over the ship, i think it was the highlight of his trip, even on the airplane home someone reconized him, well were glad you had fun too we had a ball and cant wait to do it again, my daughter and i also did the ladies night at the spa, aaahhh!!!!

that's the great thing about the disney cruise...if you like to be with lots of people, there is ample opportunity...
but if you're like me and prefer more quiet intimate experiences, it's also possible...
like ladies night for the former group and the secluded cabanas at serenity bay for those like me...
or the deck parties for the former or a peaceful walk around deck 4 for the loners like me...
i think some people are scared away by the thought of being on a ship with 2,700 people......especially if they have an aversion to crowds and lines like i have....
they couldn't be more wrong...i rarely was aware of the number of people on the ship.....mine was a wonderful small ship experience...

i suppose kind of a non-sequiter, but your last post got me thinking (always a dangerous thing)....

Hello again to everyone,
Our three-peat is winding down...I can't believe how fast it went by. We'll be on the internet a little more now because the new internet cafe is done and the all-you-can-surf package has been restored. The new coffee station with the added juice and lemonade is not ready yet, but hopefully that will be soon too.
Natsmom and Tinkerkat joined us today. We are all at the same dinner table, and we just got back from the 70s party. As always, it was a hoot! Tony and I plan to just stay on the ship tomorrow. There was a change in tomorrow's shows since last week...Mouseketeer will only be in the afternoon tomorrow, with a comedy music show at night.
Dueling Pianos has been moved from its temporary home in the Promenade Lounge back to Barrel of Laughs. I'm glad because the singers that were moved to Barrel had a loud bass line when they did their Latin show. You could actually hear it all the way up in 5520! Good thing we were keeping late hours anyway.
I think I have had an encounter with sand fleas or sea lice or something...I have these huge bites that are more like welts all over the area behind my knees on both legs. I tend to be allergic to things anyway, so goodness only knows what it is. But beware on the island! Other than that, Castaway Cay was great as always. We did the family beach on the last trip...it was funny to see it go from nearly deserted early in the morning to wall to wall people within the space of an hour.
That's all for now, as Tony is waiting to take over the computer.

Hi Barb,

I am so glad to hear that your vacation has been so wonderful. Sorry about the Sea Lice. That does not sound like fun.

My DW and I are doing an Eastern/Western back to back in February and I was wondering if you had to disembark each time you back at Port Canaveral or if you able to stay on and enjoy the ship to yourself for awhile.

We are hoping that we can stay on and maybe get some laundry done during the changeover.

Thanks and enjoy the rest of your trip.

Michael

so they've added a new show on the 3 day cruise?...
that's interesting.....while i enjoyed mouseketeer (especially Tony's disfunctional panel) it wasn't at all on the level of the shows (obviously)...

as for the coffee bar, it's great that they're adding the lemonade/juice....that should take care of most of those who complain about the soda thing...

enjoy your last 2 days......and lucky you....even when the 3-peat is over you'll know that another cruise isn't that far away....(boy am i JEALOUS!!!)....

by the way, what kind of changes did they make in the internet cafe?....or were they just refurbishing?...

Hi Tony & Barb!

I'm so glad that you're enjoying your threepeat! I watched you the Wonder pull out yesterday on the PortCam and couldn't help but wonder where you were and what you were doing. :)

We were able to stay on the ship, but that is always subject to customs regulations so it can change.
The internet cafe was made smaller...not in a bad way, just set up more efficiently so it takes up less of the Promenade lounge.
We're now in Nassau, but of course Tony and I won't be disembarking...just another "day at sea" of us! We have the surial this afternoon, and then Natsmom and I are doing Ladies Night tonight. Afterwards, I will post about the changes to that decadent experience! Since we are in a secret porthole room, we have been spending time that we would be out on our verandah in the Rainforest instead. I wanted to see "Lilo" this morning (for the third time), but hubby is lobbying for the Rainforest instead, so I guess I won't need much convincing.
I'm trying to gather enough pixie dust to keep our Castaway Cay streak alive. The bites on my legs are still huge, so I may have to swaddle myself like a mummy! Tony wants to go back to the adult beach, but I want to have three different experiences for each cruise so I am lobbying to set up camp in the area near Castaway Jo's. So far we have done the adult beach and the thick of the family beach, so that far away area would be something different (it is usually very peaceful and uncrowded down there).
I can't even imagine how long my trip report is going to be. We also got lots of great stateroom photos while everyone was off the ship (I'm sure the stateroom hosts thought we were nuts!).
Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed for me that I get my picture in the auction this time! Last time, I bid on it and didn't look at the end to see if anyone else bid. I never got a phone call, but the weird thing is that the exact same picture is up for bid AGAIN (I know it's the same one because there is a little chip in the top of the frame). After three in a row, I will need SOMETHING to soothe my DCL addiction until the next trip...it's going to be a loooong wait until Thanksgiving.
