Hello everyone!
As Shirley posted, we made it to Port Canaveral, and after an enjoyable breakfast with her, it was on to the Disney Wonder. Something new...I don't know if this has been posted before or not, but you now go through the security check (metal detector, x-ray) before you enter the port building. I like that better because it means that the line to get on the ship moves very quickly. We just finished watching Herc and will be getting ready for dinner (dinner times are currently 5:45 and 8 p.m.), but I wanted to check in quickly. Things are already off to a "wonder"ful start. It was great to see our friends in the port, and I can't even begin to describe the greetings from Karen and Sasha!! The sea is smooth as glass...not even rough over the gulf crossing. We are hoping to continue our Castaway Cay streak...we'll probably just stay on board in Nassau. I'll be able to check in at least once a day, since we signed up for the unlimited internet package. Phyllis, can't wait to see you and Tinkerkat!!
One new experience...when we landed in Orlando last night, we had to sit on the tarmac for a while due to the lightning (they close the ramps when it gets too bad).
Well, off to get ready for dinner.

Thanx for the update Barb, and check in when you can. Have fun and relax!!!

Glad to hear your having fun! I like the new security procedure. Three days at Castaway Cay. Sounds like fun!

Thanks for remembering us.
Tina :)

Tell Sasha hi from the crazy group that was there last week! ;)

Hope you and Tony have a BLAST and enjoy perfect weather all three times in Castaway Cay! :sunny:

Barb said she signed up for unlimited internet access. I thought someone recently posted that DCL did away with this and was charging .75 per minute instead.

Did DCL re-instate the unlimited internet access?

They did NOT discontinue it on the WONDER, someone stated it was discontinued on the Magic, but that has not been confirmed.

Glad to hear you are having a great time!

Did they change the dinner times again or was it always those times on the Wonder, and only the Magic changed. I could live with 5:45 I guess.

Think I would also like the security before the embarkation area.

Enjoy and don't forget about me and the Castaway Club towels.

Thanks for checking in...Have a great threepeat....:D

Thanks for checking in, Barb.

Mjasp,
From what I gather, these dining times are a change on the Wonder. I think they were made a bit later (I think first seating used to be 5:30 and second was 7:45). I liked the late seating at its new time, as the 70's party was a little earlier so we aren't quite as sleepy!! Just got back from it, and it was a blast as always. "John Travolta" and "Gloria Gaynor" were an absolute riot. We were in Triton's tonight...we are seated with a mom and teenage son, so mom joined us at the party after dinner. We're going to crash now after a long, busy day...I'll check in again tomorrow.

Sounds like you are having a great time. Hope you have perfect weather at CC.

hey there Barb!!
i'll say it again...boy am i jealous...
by the way, you're lucky that you were only stuck on the tarmac for 'a little while'......when we flew out of orlando, the plane we were waiting to board had landed but couldn't pull into the gate because of the weather and had to sit on the tarmac for 3 HOURS....yes THREE hours....i cannot imagine sitting in a plane out in the weather we witnessed....lightning striking all around....hundreds of ground stirkes a minute.....it was awesome....as i said, i was glad to be watching it from inside the terminal...

as for the new secuirty procedures, sounds really good....
even though it's only passengers the moment you're in the port area, this ensures security inside the terminal building itself.....DCL is defintely on top of the security situation....one question....wasn't it hot?....i mean doing the secuirty search outside of the building.....or was it just inside the entrance before you go up the escalator?.......

Hey there girlfriend,
Did you find out if anything out of the unususal was happening at the port due to all that we experienced when driving in - I felt like we was under a microscope even tho I had a port badge - oh well - anyhow how did everything go? Glad to see that you are having such a great time.
Take care and God bless - let me know when to pick you up so that we can make breakfast with Phyliss next Thursday - if you decide to get off Sunday - you have all the numbers.
Give Tony hugsssss for us - hope you enjoyed your unexpected tour.
Always
luv ya
Shirley

Hey Barb & Tony....happy cruisin' and lots of pixie dust for great weather!! Can't wait to hear all about your 3-peat adventure!! It's nice you're keeping us posted!! :)
Enjoy,
Laurie :)

When we got to Florida, for our August vacation, we were able to get off of our plane but the lightning storm started before our lugguge got off! So we set in the lugguage area for 3 hours because they had made the baggage handlers stop working. I guess sitting in the terminal was better than in the plane but our lugguage was soaking wet through and through. I guess they left it sitting out and just took cover! How is it you are going to be at Castaway for 3 days? Sounds great.

babylisa4:Three Wonder cruises back to back leads to 3 total days in Nassau and 3 total days in Castaway Cay. Oh, and also 3 dockings at Port Canaveral. lol. I can't wait for the detailed reports. Sounds like fun! My hubby thinks... well, something different. If we did something like this, I'd have a grumpy husband. Maybe a 7 day eastern or western followed by a 3 day, but I'm lucky with the little cruising I get. lol. It's nice if we all had a spouse so enthusiastic as we are about Disney. The "Inkognito's" (Barb and Tony) are lucky to be evenly matched.

Tina :)

Oh I so wish that I were with y'all!!

I'll just have to wait until November for my Disney fix though.

Have a good time and thanks for checking in!

hello again everyone,
Just a quick check-in before we head off to the hot tub to relax before our surial at 3:30 (of course, Tony is really looking forward to that ;) ). Although we're in Nassau, we didn't bother to disembark. It's sunny, but apparently there was a quick rain shower as the deck was wet late this morning. We saw Lilo and Stitch for the second time, and it was just as good as the first. It inspired me for a new tag line and avatar when we return.
Disneyholic Family, you go through security outside, but DCL has set up canopies with queues under them to shield people from the sun. You go through the x-ray and metal detector there, and the bomb dogs are inside.
Shirley, apparently they have increased security. Not sure why, but my guess is the anniversary of 9/11.
We'll check in tonight, so if anyone has any questions, fire away!

Barb, it is so good of you to check in and update us with info while you are on vacation. We are so lucky toe an extra special person update us during their vacation!!!

Now for a spa update (we're done with our surial and Tony is having a massage, but my seaweed wrap isn't until later).
Spa is now open until 10 instead of 8. Right now it is a trial, but hopefully it will be made permanent.
Ladies Night is a permanent fixture on the Wonder...the reason there may be confusion when contacting DCL is that it is not offered on the Magic nor listed in the spa materials (the reason it is not listed is because the Wonder and Magic share the same info. materials). It was tried on the Magic, but there was not enough demand for it).
And yes, there HAVE been more than two people in the surial...three and even four! Before everyone's imagination starts running wild, we were told that sometimes it is families (i.e. moms and sisters) who do it as a group.
That's all the new stuff I can think of to report on for now. Still having a FABULOUS time. They are auctioning a stateroom picture that is the same as the one I love in 5650, so I have my fingers crossed that no one else will bid and I can snare it for my foyer.
