Live from WDW for 9 days, the Nicki and Todd dining review with a ton of PICS!!!!

Good evening all! Just back in from the balcony at the YC, we watched the fireworks, what a killer view! Now on to the food.

This morning was our check out day at the OKW so we went back to Boma very early, around 7:30. The place was empty so I got a ton of great close up pictures of the food. No need to review because the food was just as amazing today as it was the other day.

You're killing me here! :lmao: My DH is in Florida on business (yes, he left me home!), and all I had for dinner was a frozen dinner. I may have to figure out a way to readjust a breakfast ressie and do Boma's for breakfast and dinner.

We went back to the OKW to pack, shower and check out...I did not read my bill before we went to breakfast but when I did they charged me $315 a night instead of the $189 that I booked at. Well of course I threw away the reservation when we checked in so I had nothing in writing to prove it. And let me tell you something the lovely (NOT) woman at the front desk all but called me a LIAR and said there was no way you would get the OKW at that price. I said Ma'am, I booked this room in Dec when I received the 40% off postcard and I have the room paid in full. She went to get a superviser who fixed the problem right away and credited back my card $425.

Word of caution, never ever throw away your reservation until after you check out and check your bill.

So over to the YC which is our fav resort. We checked in early with a king bed and a huge water view. We hopped a bus to MK, DH was dying to eat at the Pirate and the Parrot across from the POTC.

Another BTW, the egg roll cart across from the Carpet Ride is open again and they had a super long line.

We get to the CS Mexican stand at 11 and DH orders a taco salad and I had the tacos and it comes with yellow rice. I wish I took a picture of the items...it was pathetic. The corn shells and flour shell with a bit of meat and NOTHING ELSE! I mean nothing. The CM tells us to get our own condiments and the beans were extra but DH said skip it. We head to the toppings bar and load up. The meal was $16.59 and not that great at all. It kept "coming up" all night long, if you catch my drift, still have that terrible taste in my mouth.

Taco salad, onions, lettuce, tomato and salsa

Tacos with the same as above

Yellow rice which was pasty and had no flavor

We are not in a rush to come back here anytime soon.

Around 1:30 we head to the GF for our tea service. I am so excited about this and seriously, so was DH. We were the first ones seated in this beautiful room at the front of the GF ground floor.

Disney064.jpg

Disney062.jpg

Disney063.jpg

DH took the booth side and I the chair side, I had a gorgeous view of these live flowers

Disney076.jpg

There was a lot of couples there, many big men with these little delicate cups.

Disney070.jpg

We each ordered the Buckingham Palace. We each got a pot of tea, DH chose the vanilla roobios which was heavenly. They served his in a pressed pot

Disney073.jpg

I opted for the Mad Hatter, a passionfruit, pomegrante and vanilla blend. It was so good. I had the ceramic tea pot and the cozy to keep it warm.

Disney071.jpg

Disney072.jpg

We were given a plate with 5 finger sandwiches and one onion jam tartlette. The pear and gorganzola on brown bread was very good. Chicken salad, shrimp salad, egg salad and watercress. Amazing stuff, the shrimp salad was the best. The server said that you can opt for one over the other or omit on and sub another...whatever you like you can do. DH surprised me as he loved all the items.

Disney074.jpg

Next course was the scone with devonshire cream and strawberry jam and a raspberry tartlette. I did not like the tartlette, it was super tart but DH loved it. The scone was so light and flaky and melt in your mouth fantastic that we wanted more and more. We lathered it with the devonshire cream and strawberry jam and we just melted.

Disney077.jpg

Here is a large tray of the tartlettes on the table as you walk in

Disney066.jpg

Final course is the option of strawberries and cream or 2 pastries. I chose the strawberries and cream. WOW they were fantastic, very cool and sweet and the fresh cream was to die for.

Disney078.jpg

DH opted for the chocolate dipped strawberries and the tiramisu cup. Both were fantastic.

Disney079.jpg

Here is a pic of the pastry tray that you see when you walk in. Lots of great stuff!

Disney065.jpg

We were there for 75 minutes and never felt rushed or uncomfortable. We each polished off the pots of tea and all the food...we were so stuffed! DH said that he loved it and felt very relaxed and would go back again for sure.

Total cost with the DDE was $40.25. We did see a few kids in there and you did not hear a peep out of them. There was 2 birthday parties and a red hat purple dress club meeting too.

On a side note, many thanks to Olboyshoi (Brenda) for recommending this place and writing a phenomenal review, I am forever grateful to ya! ;)

You said you got there around 7:30 AM. Did they let you in right away? We have a 7:30 AM ADR booked for Boma's breakfast buffet next week. We have to leave by 8:00 AM though so I was concerned that it'd be busy first thing in the morning.

It was dead, we were seated the minute we walked in and we were out of there at 8. The perfect time to go

And to finish out the night..we went back to our room to chill out and rest for a bit. Around 7:30 DH wanted a snack so we took a walk to the BW and the Spoodles pizza window. DH had a slice and pronounced it terrible, like cardboard with ketchup and fake cheese. I told him that before he ordered it but dont listen to me!

Disney099.jpg

I had the corn dog basket, fries were awesome but the corndog was nasty....very greasy and soft. The birds ate the rest of it.

Disney100.jpg

We had coffee from the BW bakery and it was pretty good. The chocolate chip cookie was very greasy, better at WPE.

Disney101.jpg

I had the banana split cake and it was gross too. Tasted like refridgerator...know what I mean?? Mushy and dry at the same time too. I was really bummed out because I was waiting so long to try it.

Disney102.jpg

DH said lets go to Norway and get a snack but I wasnt that hungry so I said we will go tomorrow.

Now I have to get some rest, we have EMH morning hours at MK. We cancelled our Chef Mickeys so we will eat at the Main Street Bakery instead. Too much TS for us, we are missing our regular snacks and CS stuff.

Night all!

We went to Chefs for the first time last year and now it's a must do!! Thanks again for the great live report!!

oh my goodness!!! those boma breakfast pics are out of this world!! I may have to tell DH that we need to eat breakfast at boma at least once as well as dinner...

your photos are so amazing .. I love how you get up close on the food.. isn't that a proven tactic to make people want to eat the food? I think they do that in commercials if you pay attention.. and it certainly is working on me right now!!!

I love the photos of the tea and the tea room! It is beautiful in there!

thanks again, this is one of the best food porn threads ever! :cloud9:

I don't know what to say other than, OMG!!! is there a drooling smilie somewhere? :goodvibes

Wow, GREAT photos!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 The Boma pics look even better than your last ones!!! ::yes:: I SO want to try those chocolate croissants!!!!

We ate a few times at the Beach Club marketplace and it wasn't all that great but the food in your pics look really good. I would try that chocolate croissant too :goodvibes And maybe the chocolate cake and the cheesecake :rolleyes1

Thanks for the great update!! :woohoo:

Really loving your reviews. All the pictures are great. Still no ressie for Boma, going in June do you think the kids would like it? 17, 14, 10, 8, 7? Also did the Tea on my "sisters" trip last September, one of the best memories for us. Loved it. Thank you for keeping up while on vacation. YUMMY!!!:flower3:

Hi all! Just checking in with everyone, we are back from the pool and getting ready for dinner at Tutto Italia, had a fantastic morning, we did our first morning EMH. We went to the little coffee bar in the YC and grabbed some coffee..blech. 'Nuf said

We were on the bus at 7:20, a full bus..DH says that he doesnt have a good feeling about this.

We arrive at MK 10 minutes later and there are people all over the place. We are let in right at 8 and the only lands open are Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, we did not know this....so DH says to me, I cannot believe that you and all your DIS knowledge did not know something! We did the attractions in Tomorrowland and then to Main Street right at 9 for breakfast. There was no line, I repeat no line at the bakery. We walked right up and ordered one fruit cup, one OJ, french toast loaf and a ham and cheese croissant.

Fruit, awesome. We have been eating fruit a few times everyday, so good!

Disney006-3.jpg

The OJ was icy cold and very good.

Disney005-5.jpg

The french toast loaf, oh what a wonderful thing. Super creamy and melt in your mouth goodness on the outside and the edges and bottom are crispy and carmelly from the sugar...such a sinful breakfast!

Disney004-4.jpg

This was the first time we tried the croissant, there is only on kind and that is ham, cheese and egg (I asked) and they are all premade and sitting under the heat lamp. The croissant is buttery and flaky, the cheese is stuffed inside the folded egg and the thin sliced ham is on top. When you bite into it the cheese does a fantastic melty ooze into your mouth, I actually moaned when I bit into it and DH said keep it down this is a family park! (It was an empty dining area!) The ham was great, not salty at all and the egg was not overcooked at all.

Disney003-5.jpg

CROISSANT SANDWICHES, CINNAMON BUNS, FRENCH TOAST LOAF

Disney001-3.jpg

MORE PASTRIES AND SUCH

Disney002-5.jpg

Around 11 DH spied the egg roll cart open so he had to have some pork and shrimp egg rolls. To me they were blech but he likes them alot.

Disney008-4.jpg

We left MK at noon to go back to the YC for lunch. We were going to eat at Cosmic Rays but all 3 stations had lines out the door so DH suggested Beaches and Cream. WHAT A SMART GUY! We were seated right away, not busy at all.

We each had a vanilla coke, the server Dee, brought us out a second one each a few minutes later.

Disney009-4.jpg

I had the hot dog with onion rings, oh my goodness am I an onion ring queen. They were great light and crispy, not greasy at all. The hot dog was amazing, so good and not salty.

Disney011-3.jpg

DH had the cheeseburger and fries, he woofed it down and said it was awesome. The buns to the burger and hot dog were the best ever.

Disney010-4.jpg

Now here is where you will all yell at me, we did not get ice cream. :scared1: I know, we are at B&C and did not get any ice cream?? Well dont forget we are eating at Tutto Italia tonight so we wanted to save room for that. Rest assured that we are not leaving here until I get my way, my NO WAY JOSE!

The pool was fantastic, just a few conventioners there. The sun is super strong and the weather is in the high 80's. Pool felt great!

Talk to ya all tonight!
