Live from VB-update on holding pool chairs

The problem I saw and mentioned to a CM this week at VB was you have those huge "family gatherings". The groups that send people down at pool rope drop or earlier and reserve with "personalized" t-shirts 20+ chairs, basically one whole area. If you saw any of this group, I think you might think a second before you moved their stuff. But when they did show up at about 10 they never left until the sun went down.

Hi - we got back from VB on Saturday. We had a great time, but I was over the chair saving by the end of the week! There are 4 of us, but we get 2 lounge chairs, because the kids go back and forth from the different activities all day and we feel its unfair to take 3 or 4 chairs. Unfortunately, alot of people could care less how many they take for their family, which is the whole problem! I was told that people were coming down at 7:30 am and forming a line. I got down there at 8:05 am our last day and barely got 2 chairs around the pool! We had a great time anyway!:)

Here's a photo I took at about 10-10:30 AM second week of June last year:

But it seems like the pool-chair-hogging issue surfaces every Spring Break. I wonder if it's the same couple of families - it certainly sounds like they have a "system" worked out.

I hope this is what it looks like this June when we will be there.

I have never posted here although I have read alot.

Here is how we do the chair thing when we go..I get up and wait until it opens..take phone down with paper and coffee.Get table with umbrella. Sit there and read. DW brings more coffee when I run out. DS gets up and they come down..

I sit under umbrella all day and swim once in a while. If I'm sitting there and someone asks..am I saving? I tell them no...I'm using the table. They usually get upset and move on.

I figure as long as I am sitting there....I have the right to be there. If you are just sitting your towel there and leaving...it's fair game

Although I'm not that bold, LOL, I'll do the same thing. If after an hour, no one has used that chair, I don't care if your picnic basket is on it with your car keys and hat, I'm using your chair.

I agree. I usually give it about 45-60 minutes. If you don't show up by then the chair is mine. I usually try to find a side table or pile the stuff up on one chair. I don't mind people taking a quick dip, going to the restroom, or getting a quick bite to bring back to the table. But if you go to the beach, are going for a sit-down meal, or just saving the chair for a later time, I think it is rude and I will have no problem moving your things. I don't care if you are a Soprano and have a gun on your t-shirt.

I agree with the last two posters. Leaving stuff on chair/table for up to one hour is okay. Beyond that it's just rude. If we plan to leave for more than that time we give up the chair.

Secondly, I too, like to go down early and read while holding some chairs or table. We typically like to get to the pool early before it gets too hot. If someone is sitting using a chair or two I don't see the issue with that.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: I didn't know there was some sort of min. number of people required at a table/w umbrella. or a set amount of time you are allowed to occupy said table.

Does anyone have a photo of the "Sopranos" on their chairs in their t-shirts?

Thanks for the update Starr...

This post has made me glad that we go in January :rotfl: I am normally a moderately patient person but chair saving can drive me CRAZY:headache: I don't have a problem with putting a towel/shirt on a chair if you are planning on being there within the hour but we have seen chairs 'reserved' for hours. Our other pet peeve is when people are done with the chairs but leave their dirty towels all over them. People looking for chairs don't know if they are available or not. Is it that hard to put your used towels in the bin? : :confused3

We are at Vero this week and for the last two nights there was an automated message on phone stating that saving pool chairs will not be allowed and if CM finds chairs not being utilized after an hour the stuff will be brought to Lost and Found. Let's just hope they enforce it:thumbsup2

I did notice yesterday that there were chairs available by the pool. We go to the beach so the pool thing is not an issue with us.

We had those messages last week, and the Sopranos and others still held seats and I sure didn't see a CM move anything that was of a personal nature. White resort towels yep they were gone, but if you left a magazine, shirt etc they let them sit.
