LIVE from the Wilderness Lodge

Erika, that sounds absolutely heavenly! Enjoy being pampered and keep the reports coming, I love reading and dreaming.:cool1:

Hi Erika,

I'm not sure if you remember me or not. I haven't "talked" to you in quite a while. I'm your neighbor in Lafayette across the Wabash! I'm glad you're enjoying your stay at WL. We stayed there the first year they opened and fell in love with it. We had toyed with the idea of DVC for a few years and then when the Villas opened up at WL, we were hooked and bought right away! We love bringing friends and seeing their reaction when they enter the lobby (isn't it gorgeous?!). My son and I went to WDW 12/18-12/24 and stayed at Pop Century (what a fun resort), but we "had" to go home to WL a few times to really get the feel of Christmas. By the way it's 12 degrees here right now!!!!!

Kathy

Did you have any type of communication with the concierge CM's prior to your arrival in regards to itinerary planning, etc?

I'm going to be calling them soon to see if they can help me arrange a few things for our trip in May.

May I ask where your room is? Sorry if that has already been addressed. I'm hoping to have a decent view of Bay Lake for my DH's race in May. Last time, we were in the southern wing of the resort.

If you get any more info on how many people they allow to upgrade to concierge, please let us know. I would love to book a deluxe and then upgrade. I think I'm going to stick with the room we have reserved for May because I don't want to take any chances. It's a surprise for DH.

Your reports are wonderful. :teeth:

How are the Crowds? Since the New Years "Week" is over have the crowds gotten lighter? We will be there in 19 days and am really curious. Thanks for all the info on the WL, you are peaking my interest about this resort. Have a great stay.

Wendi

Yes Kathy! I remember you! :) Don't even tell me about that cold weather! I dread going home tomorrow. :(

We did not book concierge before we came... we were booked for "woods view" originally, but accepted the upsell they offered us at check-in. :) Glen told dh that they count on the front desk CM's upselling rooms to help fill the concierge level.

I'll post our room # after we check-out. :)

The crowds have improved. Last week was horrible... but yesterday and today are moderate. I'd say about 15-25 minute waits for most rides... maybe a little longer for the popular rides. But at least we can walk now! Last week was wall to wall bodies. I'm sure it will pick-up again once the marathon people come in next week. Then die off again until President's week. We came in early Feb. a couple of years ago and it was great. :)

BUILDINGS:
For the sake of clarification I am naming the buildings LOBBY, NORTH WING A, NORTH WING B, SOUTH WING A, SOUTH WING B. With the A buildings close to the lobby and the B building connected to the A buildings; towards Bay Lake. The North buildings are on your left facing the lodge and South buildings on your right.

Rooms are numbered “Floor-Building-Room”. An example is 6008 is sixth floor, north wing, room 8. 6108 is sixth floor, south wing, room 8.
Even room numbers are to the outside and odd numbers are rooms towards the courtyard side.
Room numbers are somewhat confusing as in the North wing, room numbers are ##60 to ##00 from the lobby towards the boat dock. They run the opposite in the South wing, ##60 at the end and ##00 at the lobby.
Sorry TigrLvsPooh, our weather is heading back to the cool side for the coming days.

So, would the last courtyard view room in the north wing (closet to the lobby) be x059? I have a note that someone reported staying in 5061, so would x061 be the final room before the lobby then? Could it even go as high as x063?

Actually, maybe this would describe my thinking better. (Courtyard View) LOBBY rooms are x067-x079 odd, NORTH WING A would be x043-x061 odd, NORTH WING B would be x005-x031 odd. Now, there is an area that connects NORTH WING A with NORTH WING B, what would those room numbers be? x035-x041?

Now, in the South Wing, I see a report of someone staying in 1165, 4165, and 6163 as inner courtyard rooms. So, wouldn't the room numbers have to go as high as possibly 67 or so?

BTW, where we are in the Northeast, it's currently about 8 or 9 degrees out. Can't wait to get to Orlando. ;)

On the fifth floor the rooms are numbered from 5066 down to 5000. The first room as you're walking down the hall is 5066 (it's on the left hand side, the MK side) Then, as you walk down the hall the even #'s continue on your left hand side (the MK side) all the way down from 5066 to 5054 . Those rooms overlook the loading dock. :(

Then starting with 5034 down to 5004 (even #'s) are on the MK side and the odds (5031 - 5005) are on the courtyard side. The elevators are right next to room 5030.

Then at the end of the hall there are 4 rooms facing out toward the lake... 5003, 5002, 5001, and 5000.

I hope that helps! :)

Erika,

Thank you for your posts! I am so glad that you are enjoying your stay.

Renee

TigrLvsPooh,

Do you have a favorite hotel at WDW?

I've always enjoyed your reports when you are there.

Do you think you will go back to WL Concierge?

My kids just love it. We stayed in the Villas in October with our pts and they said when we go back they want to stay concierge again.
:o

Have a safe trip home.

Would you happen to recall the room numbers for courtyard view? Would it have been 5045-5063? There has to be 10 rooms there.

For some reason, the room number sequence just isn't seeming to work! LOL

All the odd # rooms between 5065 down to 5005 are courtyard. :) The hallway ends and takes a left turn right over Artist Point (they even have windows that look down into the restaurant. Then it picks up again at 5034... 5030 is by the evevators (they take you right down to Roaring Forks)... and then on down to the end of the hall with the last cy room being 5005.

It's getting really hard to say which resort is my favorite. I really enjoyed the WL concierge and since it's about the same rate as a gv room at the GF or Poly it's got to be #1 with me right now. :) I still love the GF and Poly, they are great resorts, but we just loved having the extra attention and pampering. :) We had breakfast every morning in the lounge and snacks for the kids every afternoon. Our two year old is very picky and loved the pb&j sandwiches. :) They were more than happy to bring me all the diet coke I wanted and gave dh Bud light, Coke, Sprite... ice cream for the kids... really anything we wanted. Like I said before they went out of their way to help us. :) I'm guess that we'll be staying there again in April... maybe splitting it with an Epcot resort.

Alright, then CTY rooms in North Wing A would be 5047-5065, North Wing B would be 5005-5031, how about the area that connects A to B? I think there are 4 rooms there. :) 5037-5043?

Ahh, when we get there, for some reason I think I'm going to walk around floors 1-6 and figure out exactly where everything is. LOL

TigrLvsPooh,

Are you still at WL?

I hope you enjoyed your trip!

May I ask what the view was like from your room? Were you able to see most of the lake?

Thanks.

Just to clarify even better, I stayed on the 6th floor courtyard(which I believe is the same as 5th floor). I had the last room down the first hall before you make the turn. Next to my room was a window that looked down into Artist point! This room was 6047. It was a queen with bunks. Kimmar had the room next to
me(on the other side) which was 6049-it had 2 queens. Her sons had 6051-2 queens. Then, when you make the turn by my room(6047), there are 2 rooms that face the lake, but are also courtyard view rooms. We also had a small group with us that had that room...room 6045- it too had 2 queens!

Erika, don't forget to post on my thread(When I stayed at WL...) when you return! Hope you continue to have a great time!

We are home now. :( :( :( :( And ready to go back!!! :)

I wasn't really paying much attention to the cy rooms on the right side of the hall... I thought you were mainly interested in the MK side. But I know for a fact that the even rooms from 5066 down to 5054 were overlooking the loading dock. And I also know that the odd rooms are all on the courtyard side. The first one was 5065 and the last one was 5005. I also know that 5030 and 5031 were right by the elevators.

If you're looking for a courtyard view that's down on the end I would start with 5005 and work up from there. If you're hoping to see Wishes then I'd stick with the even # rooms from 5034 down to 5004. Then rooms 5003, 5002, 5001, and 5000 would look straight out into the lake toward the boat launch.

We were in room 7119... inner courtyard, over the pond and falls area, with a partial view of the EWP. It was very quiet... we couldn't see or hear the pool. We actually didn't spend anytime on our balcony... we relaxed in the lounge. :smooth: Ahhhh... I wish I was there right now.

Cindy-awesome! I think we might have it!

Erika, welcome back! Our trip is coming up soon! I'm so excited! We have courtyard view rooms booked, maybe they'll give us a concierge upgrade, though. ;)

So, then the wing A would be x047-x065. Wing B would be x005-x031. I looked at a picture, and it seems there are 4 rooms between A & B. So, those would probably be x039-x045. Sound good?
