Hi folks!
We've been here about four days and are in LOVE with the AKL. I'll post some photos later but here are some particulars.
ME transporation from OIA was very efficient. We only waited about 5 minutes before we could board our bus. The bus stopped at Coronodo Springs, Pop and the AKL. When we arrived at the AKL, we were taken aback by how beautiful the place was. The attention to detail with the theming is astounding!
There was a long line to check in but there were AKL CMs walking the lines to find out if folks had any questions or issues that could be addressed before reaching the check-in counter. When it was our turn, we had a great CM who found me a quiet room. My daughter has PDD and some noise-sensitivity issues so with the construction going on I was really concerned. We were given a room on the Zebra trail which was a hike BUT we were upgraded to a Savannah view!!!
Our savannah view is awesome to say the least. Right now there's one of a 'family' of five giraffes eating a little snack about 60 feet away from my balcony. When we arrived we saw a flurry of animal activity. A herd of about 4 zebras came running in, drank some water and ran back off. Our view seems to always be active with animals hanging out, running through or just eating away. I think with the cooler weather the animals are just more active.
Mousekeeping has been very prompt and efficient--no worries at all in that department. So far we've eaten at the Mara once and Boma twice (breakfast and dinner). The spices in the food at Boma are to die for!
It's like something I would have cooked myself. And the zebra domes are worth the hype. Someone made the mistake of telling me zebra domes were available at the Mara so I've already put a 'cache' of them in the room refrigerator.
The lobby of the AKL looks absolutely stunning for Christmas! I'll try to post photos over the weekend. Time to drop my kid off at Bush Camp and this evening we're doing the Osbourne Lights over at MGM.
