Hey everyone!
What a great trip we're having.
It was so wonderful to plan a DIS meet. I've met very many nice people that I'd been talking with for months previous to our cruise.
This was the best idea to hook up with a few single adults and have dinner with them. Michlynb....Michelle and her son Spencer and
Suzanne and her son Drew have been having dinner together with me
Scouter....Rose and my son Sean. It's terrific to have company.
At our DIS meet......we met up with 3swimmers.......DW Claire
DHJeff and their three childrenn. The oldest being Sarah 13. My son
Sean 15, and her have hit it off very well and have spent lots of time
together while I hang out with my new friends having coffee at Cove
Cafe or tequila tasting or dining at Palo!
There's another great thing! Palo! I never thought I'd be able to go since
I was traveling with only my teenager, but thanks to Suzanne and Michelle
we've been once for brunch and will be dining there again Thursday evening
with another newly found friend that Suzanne met at a singles luncheon....
Deb (not on DIS), thanks also to Suzanne's concierge for allowing us
reservations whenever she'd like!
I'll have to save for concierge service suite next cruise!
So, Palo is excellent! Don't miss this place! And PJ who works up there
is a sweetheart!
Have met up with merylj, suzymouse, boosgram, piratewife, biroroberts,
magmom, travelingmice, nala11 and Lauri, and others that I cannot remember
right now.
We went to Captain Marvins yesterday with michlynb and magmom family and travelingmice family. We snorkeled at 2 different locations, both
were excellent! and then went to a third stop to play with the stingrays.
Ok, I was ready for this one, excited even. But when these stingrays kept
swimming around me and brushing up against me and under my feet, I was
quite a bit creeped out. Now, I didn't mind if they swam around me and I tried to reach out and pet them, but them taking the initiative was ....creepy.
Their undersides are quite slimy. But I did obey the tradition of first timers
must KISS a stingray, so when our guide held one out for me to hold....
I did and reluctantly kissed it's spine. BLECH! But I'm buying that video!!!!
My son, 15, loved This!!!!! He keeps saying that's the coolest thing that
he's ever done! He loved snorkeling. And you must know that we are not
beach people or swimmers. I loved it too. We even saw a small shark and
an eel!
Word of caution. The sun is brutal. We all put on sunscreen, mine was
spf45, supposedly waterproof. Now, granted, I put it on lightly so I could
get a little color, but I am very fair. I am now burnt to a crisp! Yesterday
I was so dehyrated I just wanted to drink cold drinks and sleep.
Today, since I'm so burnt I must be careful as we go out on our horseback
riding excursion at Costa Maya, I'll have to wear a very light but long sleeved
shirt while out today. The sun is supposed to be brutal again today.
I am just hoping that I'll be recovered enough by Friday to go snorkeling
again at
Castaway Cay.
Ok, I'm off!
