Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

Happy Birthday Rose -

Our first cruise was on the Wonder, a pin trading cruise (we did not know that when we booked, we collect pins as a memento - something to remember things by -

I remember being on this cruise (which had lots of limited release pins) and being in the internet cafe, and there was a woman that was listing her pins on Ebay right then and there - She's still on the cruise!

I do agree that every stateroom should have had a chance to get a set (maybe by placing vouchers in the staterooms) - Then have the rest go on sale later in the cruise -

Although, I too remember camping out for concert tickets - That was so much fun!! But I didn't have to pay $10,000 to stand in line!

Talked with Danielle (Internet manager and cruise sales), and apparently everything on the ship is installed to allow wireless internet access with your own laptop. I don't know what the holdup is, but she stated it should be very very soon. She apparently is hearing a lot of guest feedback regarding this, and hopefully it will get rectified. It's merely a matter of flipping the switch now.
This is awesome news! I hope they can flip the switch before August - I'm on the (shhhhhhh!) cruise and am worried about 14 days without access to my work.

So is there any word on the fallout from the pin riots of 2005?

Hopefully they aren't standing in line already. :( Honestly, that has to be one of the biggest fiascos for DCL. :( I feel sorry for those who are not able to get a pin because they choose not to spend an insane amount of time not sleeping in their stateroom, eating in the dining rooms, or just enjoying time with their families. Thank goodness they have consolidated the rest of the pins now so that noone has to go thru this every day.

I really hope they get the pin fiasco straightened by August. I really want the pins and other souveniers, but there is no way I am sleeping on deck to get any of it!

I am enjoying reading about the cruise though.

:cool1: yeah - I made it through all 35 pages! Of course it took me all day, but oh well.

ETA: and then they put me on page 36.........

I'm with you Kellyb2000. I started reading this thread yesterday and finally finished up today.

We are booked on the Aug repo cruise but will have to cancel. One of my daughters decided this was the year to get married so we have been paying for a wedding. I have hung onto my reservations hoping something will "Magically" happen... so far no. This board is so much fun to read although I am so sad about the Aug cruise

Can you PM me before you cancel? I may be interested in your stateroom.

Thanks!

Have we heard yet on what movies are playing on the ship? The movies are free right? Do they have snacks like popcorn and sodas and such. That wuold be so much FUN! I LOVE movies. We are on the May 28 mexican Riviera cruise. Will we have special pins too?

I will have to make a list and post all the different things we have gotten. I would hate to miss someone by just trying to go from memory!
Yes, please make a list. I'd love to get gift ideas for my cruise! :sunny:

FYI....Some cabins just opened up on the August repo...I was just at the DCL site...$8900+ for 3 adults in a Cat 6, no air, insurance or transfers at a GTY status they also had Cat 8 and Cat 5.

Unfortunately I do not think DCL will let you take over the other posters current reservation.....I believe they must cancel and then DCL would release that back into inventory and price it at the current prices.

One more question...are you allowed to video tape any of the shows like Golden Mickey's or anything like that?

No, DCL does not want taping of the shows...mainly due to the light of the bright screen on most camcorders.

and yes, they do show movies onboard and they are free....popcorn and candy are not free but sold right outside the theatre on a cart (sometimes they show a movie in the big Walt Disney Theatre and they also sell snacks outside of it, plus you can order smoothies from the CM's walking around). If you want soda, you can get a cup of soda at the beverage station on Deck 9 and bring it with you to the theatre at no charge...we have even brought in a cheese/cracker platter from room service for the movie!!!

Thank you MJ. Does anyone know about a soda cup that you can buy for $40 when you get on the ship. And then get free refils no matter where you are on the ship after that. I heard about it once from someone and was wondering about it.

I am kind of curious about this pin fiasco. I have read people were camped out on deck 3. The retail stores are on deck 4 (Mickey Mates & Treasure Ketch) so where were these pins being sold?

The pin cart usually shows up on deck 3 in the Lobby/Atrium area. Was it announced that the pins would be sold from the pin cart?

Crazy! Ain't it?! ;)

They used to have a soda program - $40 was the price on the 4 night cruise.

But now that you can get soda for free at the deck 9 drink station they don't have the soda program any more. But if you order a soda in a lounge or at a bar, you still have to pay for it there. Same with if you order it through room service.

MJ is right ... you cannot just change the names on a ressie ... the ressie has to be cancelled, and even if it's immediately put into a new name, they are charged the prevailing rate.

I can't believe cat 6 for 3 people is $8900 - that's significantly less than we'll pay for cat 7 (3 people) on the Aug repo cruise.

Well, there they are...the pins are on Ebay! Only one so far. Going for $15.65 w/ 2 bids already. I typed in Disney Panama Pins and that's how I found it. :rolleyes2 **link removed--links to ebay auctions are not allowed**

It sure is crazy....from what I understand the pin vouchers are being handed out in area by the adult clubs on Deck 3....people are standing in line to get the vouchers, then they can go back at anytime (I believe) to purchase the pins....

Susan....wow, you are paying more than that for your Cat 7 on the repo? Did you book early or later? I was thinking of upgrading to a verandah cabin (even the Cat 7) but not if the prices are that high now. I'll stick with my Cat 9.
