Live From the May Repositioning Cruise

A special thanks to Tracy and Peter for making this the one of the best threads. It was so much fun seeing the pictures. Can't wait to Bring the MAGIC Home in Aug!!

I can't believe the time has come and you guys are on your way to California! Thanks for the pics and the updates. We are SOOOO jealous of you, but really excited for you all as well. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip. Have a blast!!!

Mike

What do you all think of the new menus? I wasn't as excited but the food was still good. I just missed the old menus b/c there were certain things I was looking forward to. B.T.W, the mushroom chicken in puff pastry sounds better than it tastes. I think that's tonight. My hubby and brother swore by the bass (if you're a fish person). The filet at Palo was the best ever.
B.T.W, make sure you bring the kids clubs crew some snacks at night. They love the cakes! And the entertainment staff likes the chicken fingers. Hook 'em up! It's fun playing "cake fairy". Do it on the sly! And don't forget your stateroom host. They get hungry too. hee hee.

This is the best thread! Thanks, everyone, for posting pics and live reports. Sometimes it's fun to live vicariously! :flower: I'll take my pixie dust however I can get it! :wizard:

I did a screen capture of the Magic leaving Port yesterday. It's way too big to post anywhere, but I'd be glad to e-mail to whoever is interested (it's an AVI file).

This thread is amazing..

I have a question..Just want to see if I am strange or not.. :confused3 Is anyone else checking out, or thinking about the 14 day eastbound.....I checked (for fun of course) and it appears sold out..I guess now, it will be for sure..I told hubby that we should have done it even if we could not afford it..What is happening to me, a true addict I am...

I was at work yesterday and my hubby was home with the kids, and I sent my daughter (all of 6 ) the link to this thread, and we watched it together (in a sense), and all of a sudden she calls me, and says "Please Mommy, do not send any more"...I wonder???/ "I am crying, and can not take it anymore"...

OMG Did we create a Disney Monster or what???

They must all be cleaning up after CC....ooh, it must seem strange, but LOVELY, to be starting a cruise with CC, instead of rushing to pack up and get off.....Enjoy it...

OK so I have to ask-- you guys are talking about sneaking food to the staff. Do they not eat what we eat? You would think they would be sick of chicken fingers. We have always done the phone card thing but noone seemed very enthusiastic about that this last time. I am trying to brainstorm s we will be leaving in 3 weeks.

I am very excited with hearing all of you DIS cruisers reports live. Thanks. Tell us who is staff on board Cruise staff that is (Q, Rachel, ..Band)

I did check the DCL website this morning for fun checking the August Repo Cruise. DCL site was showing a cat. 4 and a cat. 9 available. The cat. 4 for three people was just over $10,000 and the cat. 9 for three people was $7800. May 5, 2004 we had a ressie for the cat. 9 for the three of us and the price then was $3800.

Just went back and checked again, but nothing was showing on the DCL site for the August Repo Cruise now.

That would be a deal then, Andy. Only a 200 increase for the year if you count it as two 7 day cruises. WISH that we could be on that ship right now!!!

Rachel and Q are stll on board. Leisel from entertainment/bingo is gone. She got off on Saturday for her last cruise ever.
Apparantly they DON'T feed the staff the same food as the guests. My friend used to work on the WONDER. On pirate night and on the dessert buffet night I made up a few plates of cakes and put another plate over top to cover it and took them to the kids clubs. The entertainment staff (DJ, bingo crew etc. etc.) love the chicken fingers. And at breakfast or lunch I ran up to Topsiders and made fruit platters for the stateroom host and gave it to him. He put it on his cart. Geez, I sure hope the DIS higher-ups are not reading this!!!!!!!
I'm assuming the servers have easier access to left-overs but I bought him a bottle of Chivis as a gift since they aren't allowed to buy it. They have to get alcohol by the glass at the employee bar and it gets expensive that way. The crew works hard long hours and probably need a drink or two here and there to unwind. THAT'S WHAT THEY REALLY WANT (according to a former employee) Skip the phone cards. And of course there is always CASH. You can "force" it on them.

I can't believe I was on this thread most of yesterday, but there was a lot to do - waiting in the sun to board, lunch in Parrot Cay, sailaway party, watching the Magic go down the channel (when I could get webcam on), sounding the horn, and joining that family doing cartwheels at TwoPalms! By mid afternoon, DH joined me, and he was even worse.

We tried to see if space was available on the Eastbound return, but couldn't find any. So - DH suggested for upcoming big birthdays in December 2006 we book a western cruise - which we will do tomorrow!! The Wonder for Thansgiving 2005, then the Magic in 2006. :flower: :cool1: Enough to keep me happy! :goodvibes

You know it sounds from what they have told us that a lot of them do not get much of anything that is not ready available on board for their 6 months or whatever it is. Alcohol is a great idea. Do they get in trouble for having it or they just can't haul it back on board? How about munchies? Toiletries?
I liked Leisel she was so sweet. I wonder which band went West. I like the Charles Marshall band they were so much better than the last band we had on board. I love Q, and all the bingo crew.

Read a thread on the cruise meets board that someone passed away today on Castaway Cay. How sad, my thoughts and prayers go out to this family. God Bless them all.

Oh Andy - how awful! I will keep that family and their friends in my prayers.

Oh My goodness--what happened? How very sad.

On our last cruise we had a plate of fruit that was brought to our suite in the afternoon and we offered it to the stateroom host. He said he would take it later, but they have to be very careful for they can get in trouble for taking food. Their food is very different from what is in the dining room from what I have been told.

This thread sure will keep me busy the next 2 weeks. Thanks to the cruisers for taking time out to let us know what is happening.

Beth

Thanks for the great pictures. Talk about immediate gratfication for all of us who watch from home!!! Have a fantastic time and keep on reporting!

I am sorry for the family who lost a love one, but Castaway Cay? better than droppin at your desk at work.

My wife would just tell them to bury me at the end of the runway...=D
