My parents are originally from Madeira. I have family still living there and they are really excited about tomorrow. There is a huge flower festival and they get to welcome the beautiful Disney Magic to their beautiful island.

Hopefully my cousin will email some pictures and I'll get to share them here. My aunt lives in Funchal, the capital city of Madeira. She can see the ships docked from her house. Me jealous, no....... can you imagine seeing the Disney Magic from your house ? She's also seen the Queen Mary and Liberty of the Seas and the usual ones that dock there.

Anyways, here's some info about the flower festival for anyone interested in knowing what people onboard will get to enjoy tomorrow:

The Flower Festival, that takes place in spring when the flowers are at their best, has been one of the major attractions for both tourists and locals for a long time. This enchanting festival with a parade and floats through the streets of Funchal exhibits and perfumes the air with a multiplicity of floral species of the island, spreading a fairy tale ambiance all over the city centre. In every year’s edition each group presents their costumes accompanied with dances to a newly conceived choreography.

Wow....we are really looking forward to September and bringing the Magic home....sounds like so much good stuff to do on board and you have survived all your sea days.....we will miss the Golden Mickeys and the reviews of the Villian show do not sound real good....keep us updated....and enjoy your first stop....

I was told by a friend that was on the Magic a few weeks ago that they took the Golden Mickeys (GM) off because they needed the room. Apparently the costumes took up a lot of room that they needed for supplies. Last time they were shorted or paid dearly. I think the GM will be back after the euro trip, but I am not sure.

Wow! I've never seen so many people in this park in Madeira before. Everyone here is waiting for the Flower Festival parade which will be starting soon and Mickey & Minnie are expected to join this years parade!!!!

*** Sorry everyone I found later today that Mickey & Minnie were not in the parade. Instead they visited 60 children in what I believe is an orphanage in Madeira. Here's a link with a picture of the characters with the children. The children were each given a gift.
