Wednesday.......24.3.04

Rushed round like a headless chicken to get house ***** & span for prospective buyers while we're away. Taxi picked us up at 2 and met Mark at gatwick. He'd come straight from reading wher he had his interview. Great start to the holiday as he got the job with a great salary

Breezed thru twilight check in (what a godsend) and got our reserved seats, then on to travelex for some dosh Over to north terminal to le Meridien and checked in...great room, mmmmmm comfy bed. Quick rest and then Marks sis called as theyd arrived at check in. Once we were all sorted we headed off to frankie & bennys for our dinner....wow! great service, fab food...loved it!

Spot of retail therapy for us girls while the boys played in the arcade then back to bed nice and early.....so excited!

Thursday.....25.3.04

Up at 7 with no fuss from Becky...after all we're officially on hols now! Mark left us to it while we got ready. He sensibly went down to have a coffee and read the paper while Becky prepared herself for her public

No need to check in but noticed our flight was now showing 1 hour delay...oh poo! never mind Im not stressing coz Im on holiday! Zipped thru passport control where Becky didnt get stopped for the first time ever Into the Metro Bar which was so much quieter than everyewhere else, for pastries, paninis and coffee and so jamie could watch the planes. Bless! Every time they took off he stood on his chair and clapped! (He's only 4)....Mind you, I felt like doing that too

Lots of retail therapy in duty free. Becky started spending her birthday dosh on MAC make up, I bought perfume and Marks sis (Rebecca.....how confusing) bought perfume too. Mark also suprised me with the matching body lotion and some Urban decay make up as today is the 2nd anniversary of when we first met....aaaahhhhhh see...thats why I love him.

Got boring then as flight got later and later, but we ended up boarding at 12 (instead of 10.15) Worst was when they told Becky she had to hand over her keys as its on a thick chain and she could strangle someone with it !! Luckily Mark eventually managed to get the keys off so they could have the chain but Bk was NOT impressed!!! Stupid as they were selling thick silver chains thicker than this on the plane!!!!

Thank goodness! I relax a bit once Im on the plane! we were seated right near the back in front of rebecca, Stu & Jamie, with 3 little boys in front who were pretty good throughout.........not so their little twin sisters across the aisle who screamed thru the flight! Poor Mum!

Flight was uneventful, we watched School of Rock and ate dinner, then tea, both of which were pretty good....esp the chocolate muffin for tea! The staff were very good, bringing Jamie bags of crisps when he said he was hungry, and bringing me ginger ale as I felt a bit green at one point.

We landed at 4.15 local time which meant wed made up some time and were only 1 hour late..........but this went out the window as it took ages to get off plane, thru customs and thru everywhere else!!

Immigration was longer than Ive ever seen it but the officer was really jokey with Becky, customs pulled us all over and went rhu our bags (well we are such a dodgy lot) Bags took forever in both lines and it was 2 hours afterwed landed before we hooked up with happy Limo!!!!

No worries, as soon as the big white car drew up and we saw Rebecca, Stu & Jamies faces (wed suprised them) it was worth the wait! Rebecca was nearly crying and Jamie was a real picture! Becky looked like she was born for it, looking a cool rock star! Id add the pix if wed brought the right lead with us!

Arrived at the villa to find Mum had been unwell all day poor love so we had lots of hugs. Villa is stupendous, cant tell you how lovely, no words would do it justice Lisa, you have squatters!

Very luxurious and grand but with a very homely feel too....just right! becky is in love with the fairy room, all pink & Lilac....especially the princess rocking chair (good job shes only little) whod have beleived it of a goth! Especially loves having her own bathroom!

Jamie is right at home in the cowboy room, loves watching TV in the monring!:

We ran into the master suite before anyone else could nick it and all were happy

By 7.15 wed ordered giant pizzas and jumped in the pool....bliss. We floated on our backs lookingup at the stars thinking life just doesnt get any better............

.....although the enormous 2 pizzas, hot wings and sodas, all for $26 helped!

In bed by 9.30 and sank into sleep dreaming of the days ahead......

:wave2:

Flippin' heck, Mandy - you've been busy! Surely you haven't done all these since you've been back?

When I read that Becky wasn't stopped at Passport Control for the first time ever, I had this fleeting vision of her all Barbie pink and frou-frou (scary!), but it was just as quickly dismissed. THEN I read about her loving the fairy room!

lol Deb!!!! She has calmed down a little.....but not much!;)...there's no pink yet..........

We do have pix, just takes me a while to get going.......;)

hi, hope you dont mind me asking, but we have booked to stay in le meridian in dec, did you have a family room if so was it nice, also have read before about frankie and bennys my kids love this place can you tell me how far it is from the hotel and is it easy to find thanks very much now back to reading your great trip reports, susie

dont mind at all Susie!:)

We had a room for 3 of us, there's Mark & I, and my teenage DD who slept on the very comfy sofa bed, which pulled out. The room wasnt enormous but very adequate for 1 night:0 I know people who have had a family room for 4 and its had 2 singles & a double:)

Franki & Bennys is over in the other terminal, a short monorail trip away, just 10 mins or so:)

thanks, we have never stayed here before and were a bit worried, your trip reports are great, my daughter sounds the same as yours, we looked up hot topic on the web and she has made a long!! list off what she wants bringing back, thanks again susie

Sounds like a long day - but then for me, it doesn't start until I walk out of the airport and see my first palm tree :teeth:

Was this a big family trip Mandy?

There was the 3 of us, plus my parents and Mark's sister her Dh and little boy:)
