We made it!! Checked in yesterday morning and the Carriage House was quite busy with check outs. We had maybe a 5 minute wait. Lots of Welcome Home wishes and a very pleasant CM helped us. I did get the building I wanted but the room wasn't ready. Checked DH's laptop and headed out to DTD.

The room Buiding 16/1745- I must admitt I was just a little disappointed in what I saw. No DVD player (I'll see if I can get one) in this room even though we had the same room last year and had one. And the tiles all around the bottom of the jacuzzi were loose and "laying" up against the tub; you could remove them if you wanted. I immediately called and made a report on that. Housekeeping definately should have spotted that. Other that that the place is GREAT!!

We actually went to the movies yesterday!! We were tired from getting up at 3:30 ;) and went to see Harry Potter. What a concept; relaxing at WDW.

The Grandstand area looks beautiful but I haven't really gone over there. A nice CM showed me where the new pool is and we'll stroll over there later on during the week. Ihave a Spa appointment :cloud9: Wednesday. Can't wait.

I'll be more than happy to try and answer questions all of you SSR Lovers have while I'm here. I can't begin to tell you how good it feels to "be home".

thanks for the report! We love SSR and can't wait to be back in Nov. I would love to hear what you think about the Grandstand area once you get a chance to get over there. Also I would love if you could find out it they are showing the movies by the pool and if they do so in Nov.
Thanks!

Oh, I'm originally from the Bronx too! Most of my family is still there. What part are you in?

Have a great, relaxing time. I hope the issues are cleared up for you. Even studios now have DVD players...I wonder what happened to that one?

Yup - report the missing DVD player so they can charge the previous guest if they need to - I'm thinking they may have taken it along with their little shampoo bottles.

Oh crap. :confused3

Our Guide told us that the units came with a complimentary DVC player. I thought it funny that they were used and already hooked up. We have three now. One in each bedroom. I was looking forward to number four in September.

We were in a studio at SS4 in April and there was no DVD player at CP.

Yes they are showing movies by the Grandstand pool; don't know about November but I'll try and find out.

Actually that's what may have happened. When I told the front desk about the tiles I also mentioned the DVD player. The CM said that there should have been one in the room. Within 15 minutes a CM appeared at the door with a brand new one. I asked if the old one may have been damaged and she said that if it had been, a new one would have immediately been replaced.

Within one hour of reporting the tiles and DVD player everything was fixed and replaced!!:thumbsup2

I was going to try and load some pictures, but my computer isn't cooperating and I'm tired. :) So we'll give it a shot in the morning. Look at this; it worked. This is the view from our livingroom. DTD and the quiet pool.

WOW!!! It doesn't get much better than that! Thanks for sharing. :)

The real question is ... how was Harry Potter? (I might be taking a contingent of little cousins to see it tomorrow. We're in Williamsburg this week.)

Oh, ok a SSR question. When you take that walk over to Grandstand (convenient for you if you're checking it out on the way back from the ferry), take a look at the lights along the walkway to the area. The 4th from the seating area kept going out on us in May. We'd report, they'd fix it and then it stopped working the next day. I wondered if there was a wiring problem.

Love the view! We are always scouting for rooms at SSR. so far always on the first floor though. Just guessing from the view but is your balcony one that receives the full sun in the afternoon? I know it's a hot time of year, but you must have the sun for almost the full day?

enjoy your vacation !

Welcome Home love the report thus far!!!!!!!!

We also had a pool view in the Grandstand area in June. My 2 year old nephew woke up each morning saying swimming pool over and over and over.... We've never really cared about the view, but my brother really liked "having something to look at".

Overall, the area just won over my family. The shorcut to the main area made going over for breakfast or snacks really easy. We've stayed at the Springs previously and I think the walk was even shorter than that. Having the pool bar with the refill station for sodas was also a plus. The pool got busy at times but was never really crowded. Always lots of places to sit and tables available.

I think this area will be on the top of our request list on our next trip.:thumbsup2
