Checked into Vero on Monday.

The weather is perfect. We requested a non-smoking room for medical reasons due to my DS's asthma.

The people in the NON-SMOKING room next to us smoke on their balcony all day and there are plenty of smokers by the pool.

Disney,

You need to do something about this. Disney is going to lose a lot of our business if they don't.

Everything else is perfect. We've already eaten at Shutters and had an amazing meal. The Chef had a special treat waiting for my DH upon arrival.

Already been down the slide a 1,000 times.

We're here until Sunday. I'll post a trip report upon our return.

I wish Disney would eliminate smoking, except in designated areas. Those areas would not include balconies, rooms, or the pool area.

Oh well, glad everything else is up to par!

I was afraid you were refering to fires in the area. However, what you're going through is bad enough. I hope the smokers next door leave.

I'd be miffed if I were at the beach and I couldn't even open the balcony doors for fear of smoke blowing in from the neighbor's balcony. A well used common area such as the pool should be non-smoking as well. I agree...Disney needs to do something about this.

I'm glad the rest of your vacation has been lovely!

We've switched rooms.

We are now in 2415-a King bed with pull out couch. It has a closed balcony and there is only a balcony on one side.

Sorry if I seem miffed but I just don't think it's right.

Everything else has been PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!

For us, room 2415 IS perfect! With just the two of us, the king bed and large sitting area where the sofa and easy chair are located makes for a very spacious room. We always request Ocean View Inn room with king size bed (if available).

We have had room 2415 also and LOVED it. For Cindy and I it is perfect. The view of the ocean from that Inn room is awesome!! We always request that room or 2419 or if it is available.::yes::

We had the same problem last month at the Grand Californian at DL. We stayed in a theme park view for 7 nights at a premium price but for 3 of the nights there was a smoker on the balcony. I also have asthma although it didn't bother me from a medical standpoint, just surprised at a total non-smoking hotel that smoking was allowed on the balcony.

I doubt they will lose much business.

That is unfortunate but happy to hear you were switched/requested a switch and are happy with the room you have now

IMO, Disney will lose business over this smoking problem

thanks

I can't really kill somebody for actually 'going outside' to smoke...............I mean, at least they had the courtesy not to 'smoke out' a non smoking room...............

I am a nonsmoker who believes that everyone in this country has the right to decide how they are going to kill themselves ;) , but as long as they use some common sense with regard to others.........

At least they went outside..............JMHO.........

They are keeping you busy with the smoking posts:D My wife smokes on the porch where we stay at OKW. I do not smoke need a non smoking room. The situation in a one bedroom, top floor at OKW, is that it is just about impossible for the smoke to travel some 30 feet to another balcony, cigarette smoke just can not do that. But I will leave the rest up to my fellow Nutmegger Gail to explain if she wishes.:)
