DH and myself left for WDW on 3/9/05 escaping from an icy / slushy Philly.
Took Amtrak to Orlando (sleeper car) I love the train (but not coach seats).
:goodvibes
Jack from Tiffany’s was waiting for us and quickly whisked us to POR.

I had faxed a request for 1st floor in AB lodge 18 and was fortunate enough to get it.
(14 is my favorite but I knew it would be closed for rehab).

Lodge 18 has just been redone and it looks great. New curtains, bedspreads, rugs, light fixtures, etc. Now there is tile on the floor where the sinks are and a curtain to pull closed for more privacy. The toilet no longer has that stupid (IMHO) button in the middle of the tank top that you had to push to flush. I always hurt my thumb trying to push it. The refrigerator is a good size (no freezer). Also has a coffee pot and hair dryer.

So far the crowds in the parks are nonexistent. No lines or waits anywhere.
Moving to Contemporary on Sunday.
Glad to answer any questions.

Wow. I'm surprised at your comment about the crowds!

How has the weather been?

We arrive at POR on Sunday and I can't wait!!!

Weather is perfect. low 70's and sunny. You do need long pants and light jacket at night.
I think spring break doesn't go into full swing until the week of the 21st of March.

Thanks!!! I saw in the forecast that it might hit 80 starting on Sunday. Yahoo!!!

Have a great stay and I can't wait to get there.

Just curious on how long the train ride is. I am from S. Jersey so the time would be the same for me. Always wanted to take the train to orlando.

Hello- lucky you! Its cold and snowy here! :cold:
If bldg 18 is still smoking optional, when you checked into your room could you still smell smoke really bad? We requested bldg 18 months ago for May and neither of us smoke. If we are lucky enough to get in that bldg I hope we can handle it.
Have fun...

Noseybuddy - The train is about 21 hours from Philly (30th st. station) If it’s on time, which it usually isn’t. This trip wasn’t bad we were only a half hour late getting in. I wouldn’t personally recommend coach seats but a lot of people don’t mind them.
I love the trip, it’s very relaxing to me.

W21981brick – Building 18 is still smoking. The only way I could get my first floor request and have the room ready early was to take a smoking room and I did (room 1821).
The room did not smell at all. My DH is very sensitive to the smell of smoke and it makes him physically sick but he had no problems.
I always take a bottle of febeze with us when we travel but I didn't need to use it.
