Hello Fellow DISers!!!! We are here at the POFQ and enjoying our stay. :) The resort is beautiful, and very peaceful. :) Having been to New Orleans before I think they've successfully captured the theme here. :) I love strolling around the courtyards and down by the river. I have to say it's my favorite moderate so far, the rooms are really nice. They remind me of the YC, dark wood, lots of blue and yellow, very elegant. :) I highly recommend checking it out. ;) The pool is great... the kids loved the slide, the food court is good... beignets are yummy, jambalaya is good, chocolate chip pancakes are good, oh and they have Vanilla Coke and Cherry Coke, that made me happy. ;) Buses are running smoothly, it's nice being the first pickup and first drop off.

Please feel free to ask any questions. :) If I don't know the answer I'll try my best to find it. We'll be here 6 more nights and then we're heading to VWL for 4 nights. :)

Man it is HOT and crowded in the parks!!!! :earseek: :earseek:

Stupid question but how is the weather? We are leaving friday for Disney and it shows rain on the weather channel, Is it raining now or sunny? Thanks Peylog Have a fantastic trip!

No questions here! I just wanted to say... "Enjoy your trip and I hope you enjoy your stay at POFQ!"

Erika....come visit the homeless Dis'ers when you get back we miss you, Oh by the way we are setting sail on cruise so thats where we will be, IRL have a great time I cant wait to go I'll be at the POFQ in 18 days!!!!

Yesterday wasn't too hot, low 80's, but today it's pushing 90. We left the parks around 1:30 pm and plan to head back tonight when it cools down. We went swimming last night around 9:00 pm and it was perfect. :) And no rain at all (so far). :)

Did you end up driving or flying?

It sounds like you are having a wonderful trip.

Your hot weather report makes me nervous for next month.:(

Do they have a campfire program in the evenings? I thought I read somewhere once that they did this, but I haven't seen it mentioned again.

We will be trying out this resort in July, and can't wait to see it for the first time! Glad you are having a great trip!

DJ

Do they have any designated "adults only" hours for the pool?

Which building are you in? How is the walking distance to the pool, food court and bus stop? Do you think this would be a good place to bring my 3 year old DD? Not too noisy?

Enjoy the rest of your trip and thanks for thinking of us here on the DIS!

Do they have a cocktail lounge at night for us adults to relax at and possibly listen to some jazz?

I also am at French Quarter right now (in building 4)!! I love the new rehabbed rooms - dark wood, yellow bedspreads, new carpets and tile, they look great! I have yet to roam around the resort, as we are still unpacking right now!! The weather is wonderful!!! :) :) :) We spent the day looking for rare characters at MGM and Epcot, which is all my nephew ever wants to do!

Enjoy your stay!!!!!!!

Couple of questions for ya---

how many stops do the buses make after they pick you up at POFQ? (meaning how many stops are there at the Riverside?) Are there just tons of buses to accomodate the 3,000 rooms at these sister resorts?

Where does the boat drop you off at Downtown Disney? Near Rainforest Cafe?

here is a question

how are you online? do you have wireless access over a cell company? or do they have a wireless router at the resort we can tap into?

TigrLvsPooh must be busy enjoying. I am back at work after our trip to POFQ last week. I'll take a stab at answers.

Busses: Nominally you share a bus with POR. There is one POFQ stop (always 1st coming or going) and 4 POR stops. HOWEVER, good news: Trips to/from MK are POFQ only. Also, many times they don't go to POR for some reason. We had to share less than half the time. I found busses very convenient - obviously there is some waiting and crowding after nighttime events.

Online: I did not try to connect but I don't believe they have gone wireless. There is a dataport on the phone & one under the table on the floor.

Lounge: There is a lounge with a player piano and 2 TVs. I went there nightly for a beer. Service was slow -- only one barkeep. Not real good atmosphere. I just wanted to see how the Yankees were doing. :teeth: so it was good for me. You may want to try POR. Short walk especally from Bldg 7. I did not go at night but there is a fireplace there and Piano Bob is supposed to put on a good show -- but may not be relaxing. I missed him-- drat.

Floridafam - We ended up driving and it wasn't bad at all. :) We actually got here a day earlier than we thought we would and luckily they had a room at Pop Century for us. :) I think we will definitely drive again... it's nice having our car here. :)

The weather today is cold and rainy. Current temp is only 65! We were at AK this morning and left early. I'm almost tempted to turn the heat on in our room. ;)

westjones - The only campfire program I know about is at Fort Wilderness. There is more info about it over on allearsnet.com.

amberle3 - Nope, no adult only hours. It's definitely a pool designed for kids.

jcemom - We are in building 5. It's a great location. Very close to the pool, food court, boat, and bus. The only building closer to the bus would be building 4. The resort is very quiet... we rarely ever see anyone walking around except near the pool. Our room faces out toward an inner courtyard... there are fountains, benches, pathways, it's very relaxing. I think it's a great resort for a 3 year old. The pool is great for kids, the slide is perfect for little ones (my 4 year old loves it), and there's also a nice playground. :)

keith-atl - Yes, there is a nice bar in the lobby area, lots of nice rich woods, quiet, nice atmosphere. There is also a bar near the pool that was pretty happening last night. And you can use the bar at POR also.

HugsforEeyore - Howdy Neighbor!!! Staying dry today?? ;)

Alice28 - The bus comes here to POFQ first, there is one stop here, and then goes to POR and makes 4 stops. Then on to whatever park. Coming back it stops at the POFQ first, then 4 stops at POR. This morning when we got on the AK bus it didn't even go to POR, so I guess sometimes they don't share. But every other time we've been grouped together on one bus. It's really nice for the POFQ people because we always get a seat and we're the first drop off. :)

Stiff - I just plug my laptop into the phone jack. It's 75 cents everytime I dial into my AOL.

Sheriff - We have been sharing one bus to/from MK with POR. So I'm guessing it's only split during busy times.

If anyone has anymore POFQ questions let me know. :) We are still enjoying our stay. :)

We will be staying at the AS Movies, but I would love to try the POFQ food court for the Jumbalaya and Seafood Creole type stuff. How far is the POFQ food court from AS Movies, and do you think the creole type food is worth the trip? We will probably use the Q&C vouchers and will share. Is the Jumbalaya enough for two to share? Did you try or see the seafood dish? Does it look yummy and enough to share? Sorry, but it is a lot of work getting DH to leave the AS food court, LOL!
