Live from OKW, it is awesome!

First time to OKW, just checked in today. What a beautiful, quiet, quaint and CLEAN resort. The front desk was a breeze, they put us in the exact building that we wanted, 55 right next to the quiet pool. The room they originally gave us had a 99 degree heat problem but within 5 minutes they had sent someone over with new room keys to the room right next door.

Room is super clean and very room, the only yucky thing is the ac vent in the ceiling was filthy and all the paint around it is peeling badly but they sent someone up to clean the filter and I understand that they cannot do anything about the paint.

Going to use the quiet pool tomorrow...the resort looks very empty, empty bus to and from Epcot (we were the only ones on it) all the parking spots around buildings 53-56 are empty...THIS IS GREAT!

Glad to hear you are enjoying OKW. It's our favorite Disney resort. Enjoy the empty buses, that happens pretty often to us. We rarely get a full bus at OKW, and frequently have been the only ones on it.

Glad you love it! We have felt that way since 1994 since we became dvc members there. we have had many , many wonderful visits "home" since then. Counting down til our next visit fro xmas week-fourth year in a row!

Old Key West is so pretty! We went over there just to take pictures. We ate a delicious hamburger out by the water. Have a great time for all of us who are not there! Come back and share pictures, too.

The resort is HUMONGOUS! We drove around before checking in to decide where we wanted to stay...we liked the 53-56 buildings because the bus stop is right there and it is next to the quiet pool where we want to spend all our our time.

One weird thing, we got up very early and went to Boma for breakfast, when we came back (about 10 minutes ago) the room was not made up but there was a laundry basket at the front door filled with clean sheets, towels, toilet paper, kleenex, trash bags and paper towels and detergent.

Is this normal that we are to make up the room ourselves? I thought that was for DVC members not regular guests

Glad to hear you're enjoying OKW! That is one of my favorite resorts. It's beautiful & quiet! We usually have a party of 8 (with 3 little girls under the age of 8) when we meet, so the size of the 2 br villa is much appreciated!!! They're so much bigger than the other resorts.

As for the basket outside the door - that is placed there for your 'mousekeeper' full of supplies - you do not do it yourself. They do not have the usual housekeeping carts like the hotels do because there are no elevators, so the supplies are placed outside each room that is to be cleaned when they get to that room.
We'll be there in 61 days - can't wait!

Just back in from the quiet pool and spa...unbelievable! So relaxing..now we are off to the bar at Poly for a drink and a snack.

There was one small bottle of Aquatics (blue) shampoo, conditioner and shower gel when we arrived. The basket the mousekeeping dropped off there wasnt any replenishment of them.

There are buses all over this resort, so far we have just taken the Epcot one but we waited maybe 5 minutes and in that time 2 MK, DHS and DTD came by. When we left Epcot we waited about 10 minutes and we were the only ones on it.

This morning we drove to Boma and at 7:30 saw buses everywhere in OKW.

We are having breakfast at Olivia's tomorrow morning, I will take lots of pics for ya. Then we are going to sit by the big pool.

The small gift shop/food section is super small for the size of this resort. I did not notice any special OKW stuff but I will check it out again.

If any of you have allergies this place really kicks it into high gear because of all the lush surroundings, DH was miserable this morning and last night but the gift shop had Claritin so he is ok now.

I agree that suvie shop and the food items could be expanded at OKW,
but still there are some offerings.

Just got back in...had a quick dinner at Goods To Go...it was good! And we took it to Go!!

It is blowing our mind that for the size of this resort it looks so empty of guests...I would think that there would be a long line for everything but there isnt at all. We hopped the bus to MK tonight, no more than 2 minute wait with 3 other people on the bus. Did I tell you that we LOVE THIS PLACE???
