We left home yesterday with rain and 45 degrees and it was 76 upon arrival at MCO at 7:45pm. We rode DME and OKW was the first stop - arriving about 8:30pm. Check-in was uneventful and our Owners Lockers were already waiting for us in our villa. The Bell staff assited with our luggage and groceries from Garden Grocer. We are celebrating our 39th Anniversary and were given Celebration pins at arrival. Every CM we walked near today wished us a Happy Anniversary and it was nice. I still don't know how DW has put up with me for this many years! :teeth:

We are in an upper floor 1BR in Building 14 across from HH and the villa was in great shape.

We had a lazy morning and then headed over to the MK where we were surprised at the crowds. We later found out that they were taping the WDW Chrsitmas Parade today which accounted for the increased crowds from our usual experience in early December. Temps today were mid-70's with a beautiful sunny sky.

We rode the recently rehabbed Space Mountain and were pleased with the improvements in the queue and also liked the comfort of the new ride vehicles. Afterwards we grabbed lunch at Columbia House and then headed to the bus stop to catch a bus to BWV.

From BWV, we walked over to International Gateway and arrived right at 3pm for the Merry Member Mixer where the line was pretty long but they opened at that time and we were inside the event tent within about 15 minutes. Deevy Cee greeted members upon arrival and everyone recieved a raffle card and also a ticket for a free Holiday treat ( a rice krispy "delicacy"). There was cider and ice water available as well as a cash bar for more adult beverages.

I did get to finally meet CarolMN and her DH. It was great to get to talk with her. We have a wonderful group of DVC moderators here on the DIS!

When leaving the event, each family received a pewter 2009 DVC ornament. We have a nice collection of these from over the years now and they adorn our Disney decorated tree each year.

After leaving the Mixer, we entered Epcot thru International Gateway and headed back to listen to our favorite Disney performers, the Voices of Liberty at the AA. They performed today as the Dickens Carolers and did a wonderful selection of Christmas favorites in typical VoL a'cappella style.

After the performance we enjoyed a drink from a nearby kiosk while waiting for the Candlelight Processional to begin and then found a good spot just outside the theater. The stand-by queue extended beyond Germany but most all did get a seat even with the reserved seating for those in the dinner program. As always the CP was wonderful with narration this year by Stephen Curtis Chapman. Our favorite narrator over the years is Rita Moreno, but Stephen did a great job tonight. Even with the same music and narration script each year, the narrator has an opportunity to bring his/her own flair and this year was no different. CP was a moving experience again this year.

We walked back around WS and stopped at the Art of Disney store and rode Spaceship Earth before catching a bus back to OKW.

Tomorrow we have a late lunch planned at Coral Reef and will probably go over the DHS prior to that. Rain is predicted for tomorrow into Saturday so we'll try to plan around that, but would like to attend the DVC/AP event at DD early on Sat (DW has her eye on a necklace there ;) ).

I plan to attend the DVC Annual Meeting next Wednesday as well as dinner with DIS friends that evening. I also hope to make next week's Mixer since there are so many DISers planning to be there next Thursday. We will also be at the DIS seminar with Lee Cockerell and Marty Sklar next week and the podcast Toy Story Mania event on Sat. evening.

Busy week! :)

Sounds like you have wonderful plans and had a great first day! Thanks for sharing with us. :goodvibes

HI Doc!! :wave2: Happy Anniversary to you and the Mrs!

We are attempting to plan our day around the rain also!! I an optimistic - it was supposed to storm all day on Wed (the weatherman said "violent") but NOTHING so we are hoping for more pixie dust on our last full day!!

Doc, you've hit most of my favorites, sounds like a perfect Florida Disney day! Sorry but I think it's going to be a wet one today! Are the Christmas Decorations up in the lobby? Never been to OKW during X-Mas, very envious!
Happy Anniversary and Happy Holidays!

Happy Anniversary! Thanks for the picture of this years ornament, it is cute. Have a great trip! :)

Sounds like a great trip so far!

We'll see you at either the annual meeting or the 12/10 mixer. I haven't decided yet if we are attending the meeting or not. Because they were so late divulging the start time, I have a Teppan Edo ADR that falls right in the middle of the meeting. I haven't decided yet if I'm willing to give that up for the canned meeting. Maybe I'll just wait for your report here on the Dis, Rob!;)

Happy 39th Anniversary too! We celebrated 41 this year. See you next week!:thumbsup2

The forecast for today was for scattered showers in the morning turning to showers the rest of the day and into tomorrow. High temps were expected to be in the low 60's.

The forecast was right! :(

We had breakfast in our villa and then took a bus to DHS. No rain yet, but a light mist was falling with a temp of 59. The crowds are still much larger than our experience from prior December trips with LOTS of school aged children in the parks again today. When we got to TSM about 10:15am fastpasses were for 4:25 - 5:25pm and the standby queue prediction was 40 minutes. An hour and 5 minutes later we were boarding the ride vehicles. My score was 191,000 - no where near high enough to make the high score board - and we popped open the umbrellas and took the 25 minute trip on the Friendship Boat over to Epcot.

As we arrived at Epcot's International Gateway, the rain started in earnest and we waded thru puddles over to Nemo before our ADR at Coral Reef. There was a 30 minute queue for Nemo and it was an accurate prediction. After Nemo, we checked in about 30 minutes early for our reservation at Coral reef and were seated right away. Our table was near the aquarium, but not next to the glass.

We both enjoyed the Lobster soup and also the Mahi-Mahi, served with heart of palm and shrimp over cous-cous. Very nice! Our server offered us an Anniversary dessert but we declined since we were both well-filled from the meal itself.

After eating, we walked thru Innoventions and I tried the Segway demonstration since there was no line (this is a lot of fun and seems to have a short learning curve to be instantly mediocre) and then walked over to Mouse Gear for some eye-shopping.

By this time the rain was pretty steady and heavy at times. We exited the park and took the next bus back to OKW asking the bus driver about potential transportation to the DVC/AP event at WoD tomorrow morning at 6;30am. He called the dispatch center and found no plans by WDW to provide transportation so we asked at the Bell stand and they will get us a cab from OKW for the trip over there. We had considered walking (and have walked to DD many times from OKW over the years) but since the rain is still forecast thru noon tomorrow decided to have a Plan B.

The rain is still coming down steadily and it's still chilly so we are in for the evening. We plan to get up early for the WoD shopping tomorrow. They are also having the same type of event next Saturday from 8 - 10am. Rain is expected thru early afternoon tomorrow with 60's again but temps are expected to be back near 80 by mid-week after this system leaves the area with about 3" of rain. Temp right now is 57 with steady rain.

Tomorrow is the DVC/AP World of Disney event and we'll try for dinner at CA Grill - without ADRs (so we may end up at Cosmic Ray's instead :teeth: )

We are heading out tomorrow. We will be at OKW Sunday and leaving Friday. Hopefully that rain is gone before we arrive.
