Live from Hilton Head June 15th-25th 2008, Anyone Else?

I was really suprised when we started looking at school and tuition (especially out of state)--I had put some $$ away, but not would have been needed for a 4 year program especially if he lived in a dorm. But it is a fun time, they grow up too durn fast!
I really thought Adam was all set to start a 12 month business program in January, but he has decided that he wants to join the Navy. He really threw me for a loop, we had talked about that a few years ago and then he hadn't mentioned it for a long time. He currently uses 2 inhalers for asthma (just started the 2nd one) and it isn't possible to use them in the service. Wasn't what I had in mind for him. But he really wants to do this. He is seeing his dr Thursday to see if there is any possible way to get off of them--I told him I didn't see that happening, but he said he wants to try.

I know, the out of state is :scared1:. Our oldest is looking in S.C. The Navy, WOW!, you must be so proud! Best of luck to him with the physical. I hope things turn out the way that he wants, but also what would be "best" for him. See ya in June!!!:)

My fiance and I will be making our first trip to HHI, June 25 - June 27. We're really excited - we'll be driving up from Disney where we'll just have met with our wedding planner to plan our September wedding!

Can anyone tell me how long the drive really takes - Mapquest says 5 hours, but Mapquest has been known to be wrong...

Tabetha, the closest info I can give you on the drive from WDW to HH is, when we stay right off of I95 in the Savannah area, with no traffic I can make it in 5 hours. But....HH is about 25 miles off of 95, so add that. Plus the traffic to get onto the island can be sticky. We've gotten stuck in Jacksonville traffic a couple of times too, which added about an hour. I hope none of this happens to you!!:goodvibes

Tabitha, we've just driven in from the Savannah airport so I can't help you. But sometimes we have gotten into some traffic going on and off the island.

Spetember wedding sounds like so much fun. Are you getting married at WDW?

Thanks so much - it's good to have an idea of what to expect. I suspect we won't run into HUGE traffic on a Wednesday. Or at least I hope hot!

Good to know - thanks!

Yes, we're getting married at WDW - I'm working on a cruise ship so there's not much I can do until I leave in June. Its so exciting that I get to go right to Disney, meet up with my fiance, plan our wedding, get my wedding gown fitted, and then have a short vacation alone together before we drive all the way back to Toronto... So much to look forward to!

Tabetha, how do you like working on a ship? I don't think I would like it long term, but I imagine it would be interesting.

  Talked to my sister today and their waitlist came through.

Thanks, she is really happy. :)

43 more days until we leave:cool1:

Hope all you have a fun end of the school year trip to HH.

I'm going June 7th for just one night, between 2 nights in Savannah, and 3 nights at SSR. Really excited to see the area. I live in Oregon, and the only coastal areas I've gone to on the east coast is Florida.

31 until we leave for WDW, and then after than go to HH. Gosh, what would we do without our countdowns :lmao:. We have one of those Mickey # if days until Christmas signs in our kitchen, but we use it for # of days until the next
trip to WDW. I think it is the only thing that keeps us going sometimes :rotfl:Of course I don't count the day we leave and my husband does, so there is always a Discussion about that

Are you staying at WL for your WDW stay? I love my countdowns too, I don't have any planned for '09 yet though---I think this is a first for me, we are usually planned out and paying on trips at least a year in advance. But nothing is really jumping out at us:confused:

Hi everyone,
We just rented a minivan for our drive to HH. We rented a van because ours has too many miles on it and we are just worried that it won't make it. This will be our first time driving as a family for any long distance.:sad2: I'm just a little worried because it will be me, DH, DD 15, DS 12. My parents are coming too but they are driving in a seperate care (lucky them). We are driving from Mass and it is an estimated 16 hour drive. We are planning to stop and stay over night somewhere on the NC/SC line. We are due to arrive at HH on Sun June 22nd. I am looking at this as an adventure. I am going to pack a cooler so we don't have to stop for food, the kids will have their ipods, game boys ect., and I will have my book. DH and I will split the driving. Here's the problem. He does everything "COMANDO" style. I'm afraid he will be a giant ball of stress if we hit any traffic AT ALL. The plan is to leave at 4am on Sat and drive straight thru (bathroom breaks of course) until we hit our overnight destination. We shouldn't hit a lot of traffic on a Sat, right? I've heard that getting thru NY & DC are the worst and then it should be smooth sailing. Anyone ever drive from Mass? Does our time frame plan sound good? Which states have the strictest penalties for throwing your husband out the window and leaving him on the side of the road?:lmao:
We are also arriving on 6/22 for a family gathering for three birthdays and my parents 50th anniversary. My wife drives the 3 kids and herself from Houston (DS15, DS12 and DD8) as she and I don't like to drive the same way. She is the commando and I prefer to make stops and sightsee a little. She would probably ditch me in Missisippi! My brother and his family are coming in from near Boston. I think they are flying as they don't like long drives at all. We are looking forward to a great relaxing time and seeing a few DIS-ers along the way.

Not this summer. We will split our stay between the Contemporary and the BCV. Between Christmas and New Years we will be going home to VWL though :santa:, along with 545 million other people :rotfl:

Happy Mother's Day

Thanks Paula! Happy Mother's Day to you also!
I was just working on my WDW/HH list and I realized that the 15th
was Father's Day. I guess I will need to pick up some cards before we
go :)

We check into a 2-bedroom on June 15th and out on June 21st! Driving down from Ohio. We are keeping fingers crosses for beautiful weather as we have had in years past during the same time period!:thumbsup2

It seems like it we have celebrated Father's Day everytime we've been to HH. And we have always lucked out to have great weather:goodvibes

Does anyone have a preference for a Dis meet?

Not really, probably should be sooner, rather than later so we know who we are when we see each other at the pool :rotfl:
