Live from DLR Sept 10-17 Day Four

Setting the stage:

Cast Members:
Me: Inga, 42yo, veteran WDW and occasional DLR visitor, from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada with an 8 day park hopper
DH: 44yo, same as above, Disney 'lov-a" and here for a Microsoft conference (and sneaking out to DLR whenever possible over the conference week!)
Stay: 8 days at the Anaheim Hilton Sept 10-17 2011

DH was at his conference today so this was the first time (EVER) that I have done any Disney park on my own!

Highlites of the day:

:) Horseshoe Revue...laugh out loud funny and lite, a great way to spend lunch and get out of the heat
:) Watching the kids in the Jedi Training session...while I don't have any, I got a kick out of watching the kids train, and of course to see Darth Vader was really neat! I laughed til I cried during this
:) Star Tours also featured a different adventure each time I did it (twice in a row) and the first time I had saw the adventure with Darth Vader...awesome
:) Great meal at the Hilton Anaheim tonight...at Mix restaurant
:) Still enjoying the walking back and forth from the hotel to the park!
:) Joking with friendly park attendees!
:) Shopping at World of Disney and finding all the souveneirs I needed...including picking up a great beachtowel for under $13!

Not so lites of the day
 Wasn't keeping track of the early morning hours (which park, which day)...I no longer have any to use, and as it turns out, it was DL today. Desperate to go to DL today, I stood there in the regular line as a flood of people entered one hour earlier than I could. Not great planning on my part!!
 Crowds...it is busier than I imagined with Tourplans.com saying it was a 1.1 out of 10 at DL today...I guess having Space Mountain closed directs lots of folks to the rest of the park.
 I have been run into by so many strollers and wheelchairs I need to wear shinpads...just because you have a vehicle with wheels doesn't mean you have the right of way...and no tailgating as that seems to be when my calves get rear ended!! And it hurts! An apology is greatly appreciated if we make contact too!

I think I prefer going with DH to the parks...someone to talk to and when I start talking to people in line I wonder if they are like "who is this person and why are they talking to me"...just being friendly;)

Day 5 tomorrow and heading to DCA!!

Inga

Sounds like you did pretty good rolling solo.

Sorry about the MM miscalculation and the stroller nazis.

I hate the stroller Nazi's too, especially when it rains and they feel the need to park those strollers in front of stores so that no one else can enter. While I can feel for those who need strollers for their young ones, there's no need to feel that you can bash them into the backs of peoples shins repeatedly, especially when said person is wearing flip flops (me!). There I've had my rant for the day. I'm especially glad to hear that you are having a good stay at the Hilton Anaheim, especially since I will be there on Sept 29th for a surprise trip to the mouse. Have a great remainder of your stay!

Sounds like you are having a great time. :)

We did the MM oops on two different trips, you would think we would have learned after the first time! Oh well.

I was hesitating on mentioning the stroller thing in my comments as I am pretty well sure it is minor compared to having to haul around screaming kids in the park.

It is interesting to hear the comments from children around being at Disneyland...as I was not able to go as a kid (youngest of 5, no way my parents could afford it) and whether they have any understanding of how lucky they are to come to Disney! From some of the comments I hear, I think some kids really miss the boat on this...

But that's a whole different conversation, isn't it ;) ?

Went to a pretty well empty DCA today...looked at the MM schedule first just in case ;)

It is weird to go on my own...I find myself making lots of conversation with random people...not sure they want to talk to me but I am talking to them! Also love talking to the kids as they are pretty hilarious, but not sure all parents appreciate a stranger talking to their kids...
