Cass & Rob,
Just wanted to let you know that the only thing getting me through this cold, (it's 39 degrees F - so that's 4C ! ) rainy & raw night is thinking of you guys sailing off into the warm waters of the Caribbean ... oh ... and waiting for your next installment.

Hope you guys are having a WONDERFUL time!!!

No worries tho, more will be created while you guys are cruising. ;) Just teasing you...what an unbelievable trip, and so much more to come, I don't know how you have the time to post, but it is the best! Sorry the bellman was less than pleasant, it happens.
HAVE A GREAT TIME, and Halloween!

Pam

Happy Cruisin' Guys!

Rob, I told my husband that you had him beat as far as Ice Cream this morning. When I told him you had 3 in one day, he looked so forlorn. Guess what he'll be doing in Dec? Knowing him, he'll go for 4.

Just want to add my Best Wishes on the Family Venture. Cass, I have some major health issues too, Immune related but not Lupus. I can relate. I have also been Blessed with a DH who has stood behind me thru some really tough health crisis. We're both Lucky Women, sounds like.

How is the Renaissance? We are staying there next year. Are the rooms quite big - I heard they were. Any other info about the Renaissance would be most welcome.

Glad you're having a great time.

Thanks for posting,Timon! Wilma-bride, we stayed at the Renaissance SeaWorld earlier this summer. The rooms are big and we had one near the elevators that faced Sea World so we got to see their nightly fireworks from our balcony - be sure to try to request one of those rooms. I will preface in that I've become picky about hotel rooms due to my profession so those were the highlights. We didn't like the bed - it was not conducive to our backs nor general comfort. The food prices at the snack stand and the restaurants were outrageous when we just wanted a quick dessert, sandwich or snack (because we didn't want to pay park prices either). It's a great location if going to SW or DC but just know that you can't walk to DC from the hotel unless you want a long walk.

Morning peoples!

Sorry I wasn’t able to update yesterday, the first day of a cruise is a little hectic and it’s not all that convenient to walk all the way down to the atrium to get internet access.

However, as a treat for all your patience, I am posting way more photos than I usually do!

Just for today though, all the photos will be below my notes, I will do it properly tomorrow!

Okay, here goes…our now Eastern Caribbean Cruise…

I had a terrible sleep at the Radisson, I don’t know if it’s because I was excited or worried about our bags getting to the ship so I ended up getting up at 6am and showering.

I really don’t like the set up of the room there. The ONLY mirror was in the bathroom, which is not very convenient!

Ordered Rob some breakfast from Flamingo’s and packed up all of our stuff. Rob was a sweetie and drove over to Budget to return the car for us and then the Budget guy was nice enough to drop him back off at the hotel.

We met at the front of the hotel at 9:45am for our 10am shuttle. We got to the port by 9:55 but they wouldn’t let us drop off our luggage yet. We waited and waited and then our shuttle bus driver (Bong, yes that was his name!) drove us around to the top of one of the bridges so we could have a nice little photo op!

Finally about 10:35 we dropped off our luggage and went through security where they frisked Rob (he forgot his Treo earpiece in his pocket) and went up to the Terminal area. On the way, a lovely couple asked me if I was Timon from the DIS…it was dyerneeds, who we kept running into all day long!!! We checked in and asked if they had any upgrades and the lady replied “It’s rare but we do!” So I sent Rob over to that line while I finished checking us in.

We ended up upgrading from a cat 9 to a 6 for $358 USD, which was less than ¼ of the price I would have paid if I had booked it back in January!

Jeannine grabbed us a spot in line and we went exploring! We got some lanyards for our room keys and Rob got some snacks.

We ended up boarding before noon, no announcement or anything!! Last time they made a huge deal about it, this time the line just started moving. It was more exciting last time!

We saw scrapperjill with her huge party getting their photos done and a few more DISers even before we got onto the ship!!

They announced our names as we boarded and we immediately got in line for excursions. They weren’t supposed to open until 12:30 but they opened early as the line was getting long. We got everything we wanted and so did M & J. By the time we were all done, the line was all the way back PAST Rockin’ Bar D!!! We changed our dining rotation from APL to LAP so we would miss Parrot Cay Monday night when we are at Palo and not Lumieres.

Then up to the buffet!! I grabbed a seat since it was a zoo up there and the three of them got some food. I don’t know if it’s the buffet or just me being too excited but I didn’t really eat anything, tried some mac & cheese and a cookie which was a little burnt and that’s it.

We walked around a bit, spotted Chip & Dale and then went down to our staterooms.
We are in 5146, which is very aft and it has a tiny metal verandah. It is rounded so it barely fits two chairs. The room was gorgeous but there was about 2 inches of water on the verandah. We relaxed for a bit and got settled before heading out at 3pm for the DIS meet. We had all chipped in for buttons and Scrapperjill made them for us. She did a fabulous job and we met a whole bunch of great DISers! Before long it was time to don our lifevests and head down to “R” station. How lovely…it was in Animator’s Palate!! It was nice and cool and we got to sit down, can’t beat that!

We then walked over to the atrium on our deck to get internet. We signed up for the 250 minutes and quickly downloaded Rob’s mail and the last page of this post so we could read replies. We then went up to check out the sailaway party. On the way, Captain Thord announced that we would be leaving 30 mins late as we were waiting for some passengers who had problems getting their connections.

Soon after that, he made another announcement that we would be delayed again because someone had robbed the casino boat!!!!!!! Jeannine got some pics with the cops and stuff so I can post them later when we download her photos for her.

We stopped at Goofy’s Galley (formerly Scoops) so Rob can get some fruit.

By this time, the skies opened up and POURED!! We went back to our room and watched the amazing lightning storm from our balcony, which had just been cleared of the water by one of the room attendants. The water was coming down fast and we now have yet another little pool on our verandah.

We left for the Welcome Aboard show and got some seats up front. There was this nice couple next to us who kept glancing over and then finally asked…do you guys have a website??? LOL!! Apparently this guy was a DIS lurker and had read my trip reports.

He said” You really like the cookies and you like to eat a lot of food!” LOL
I guess Rob was a little embarrassed to be known for eating a lot of food but hey, HE DOES EAT A LOT OF FOOD!!!

The show was great and sometime during the show we left port. We popped out onto deck 4 to see us moving and there was this enormous lightning storm. Rob and I love storms and rain and we were just in awe watching this, it lit up the entire sky! Rob ran to the room to get the camcorder and then we walked up to deck 10 to film some of it. It was one of the most amazing, beautiful awesome things I have ever seen with my own two eyes. After getting all wind blown, we went back to the room to get changed for dinner. Now Rob’s two bags (yes, our bags made it from the BCV!) had arrived just before the show at 6pm but only one of mine, and NOT my cruise bag either!

So since I had nothing but shorts and tees in the bag that I had gotten, I ended up going to dinner in the only non theme-park-ish shirt in my bag and shorts, since all my pants were in my blue cruise bag. Boy did I feel out of place!! I noticed that a lot of people were dressed up VERY nicely! They were dressed as nice as I would be dressing on semi-formal night!! I felt VERY out of place and I am sure I got a few weird looks. Oh well, they can just bite me as I always say!

We met our assistance server Marie (oh crap, I think that’s her name, Rob is still sleeping so I can’t ask him, he always remembers the names!) from France and Roland from the Philippines.

M & J and Rob loved everything they ordered but I had some issues. I don’t know why but I am having a hard time finding some decent food this trip, normally I LOVE EVERYTHING!! The only good food I had was the cauliflower soup. My beef tenderloin had grizzly bits of fat running all the way through it and my sundae was yucky!

Well, I am glad that everyone else enjoyed their meals! Rob ate so much that his tummy was huge and rock hard! He actually said he was FULL afterwards, something Rob has NEVER said before!

After dinner, we had planned on going to the Match your Mate show but by the time we got back to the room, I really didn’t want to go. Rob d/l photos for me and I went up to the hot tub. Our last cruise I never even set foot in a hot tub or pool so I promised myself this trip that I would! On the way to the Quiet Cove Pool, I stopped at the Goofy Pool for a bit to watch Finding Nemo on the big screen.

The hot tub was fabulous! The lights in the tub changed from blue to green to white to a gorgeous purple! I dipped myself in the pool a little to cool off and walked back over to the Goofy Pool. I grabbed a slice of pizza at Pinocchio’s but it was yucky.

Back to the room and Rob rubbed my sore achy feet while he watched Batman Begins and I looked at our photos.

I slept like a little baby with all that rocking (I could live on a cruise, really!) and woke myself up around 6 am.

Gonna go down to the atrium so I can post this now, hope I didn’t make you wait too long.
