First of all let me reconfirm that internet is not free. And a word to the wise: if you need to do any extensive typing: work off-line and then paste. I just lost a long e-mail when connection failed. :badpc:
We left -14° and -35° wind-chill in Mpls. yesterday. High in Orlando yesterday was 79°. Got to love winter DVC vacations.
Used the kiosk to pick up our Alamo rental car. Slick. Took 5 minutes. By the time we went back upstairs to the baggage claim, one of our suitcases was already on the carrousel. We are still bringing things for our Owners Locker, so, hopefully, it will soon be one suitcase.
Our room was not ready at 1:30 PM, so went to Publix and by then it was ready ahead of schedule! Owners Locker was waiting, as always. We requested upper floor and got the perfect room: 5041, right over the store and also pretty close to the elevator. Spectacular view of Epcot fireworks last night. Room was in great shape. Stopped by on second floor to say hello to our favorite mousekeeper.
We booked a 2 bedroom at OKW for our former neighbors and their 5 kids, who now live in Tampa. SInce we had bought them Florida passes last March when they stayed with us, it was a chance for them to get in 3 more days before they expire. They are Cambodian and packed all the fixin’s and cookware for our favorite ethnic dishes. We ate in their villa last night and will do so tonight as well. While it would have been nice to have them closer to us at BWV, the extra space in the OKW 2 bedroom is just indispensable with a large family.
Since the weather will be cool (58° today, 68° tomorrow and windy), we will probably do little at the parks until Tuesday. Our friends will commando and we will relax! Since the Luna pool is closed, we may check out SAB when the weather warms again starting on Tues.
One more note: I went to buy refillable mugs at the Bakery. I thought I had read that there is a self-serve refill station there now, but I remembered wrong. And the line there is always long and understaffed. Since the pool refill station is closed, the Spoodles pizza window is about the only viable option unless Belle Vue happens to be open. Boardwalk Joe’s MAY be an option, but it has short hours. I’ll probably not buy the mugs until I find out whether I can use them at SAB pool while Luna is closed, even though we are BWV, not BCV, guests. Seems like it should be okay to me, but rules seem to be changing fast these days!
Until later...

Thanks for the report Jean,
It's a balmy 22 degrees here in NJ so I'm seriously dreaming of WDW. Enjoy the rest of your vacation. How long are you guys staying?

It's even worse this morning-you picked a good week to get out. My DSIL/DBIL leave this wednesday so they will be happy as well. Have fun.

That is, only if you go at the right time.

My friend went last week and ended up having to go to a store to buy a coat because it was so cold at Disney.

Enjoy your vacation!

So glad your trip is going well! The weather sounds beautiful, a whopping zero here this morning. :)

I love a live report! :goodvibes Wind chill was a balmy -7 in Michigan today. I'd love to don a sweat shirt and go to WDW about now!

Jean, I was able to get Wifi out on my balcony this past week. Big river has a connection. Is your favorite housekeeper Nazareen? We had her (we were in room 2001) and she was wonderful! Have a great time!!

Hi, Lexxie,
Thanks for the tip on the hotspot. We are not right above the Big River (closer to lobby) and on 5th floor, but when this 24 hours is up I will see what I can get.
Yes, Nazareen is our favorite mousekeeper. I just love her! She always seems to work the 2nd floor hallway by the BW view rooms. Her sister works 5th floor, way down by Jellyrolls, and she is good as well.
We are only here until Jan. 26. The upper 70°s later this week have disappeared from the forecast, but at least it doesn't look like we will be getting lots of rain, as once predicted.

Thanks for the report, Jean. We are below zero here in Maine as well, so even a colder day there would be welcome! Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

I thought internet was now free for members?
Latest word is that free internet will begin in Spring, 2008. I am going to be back March 8, so I'm hoping for early spring! Thanks to Lexxie's tip, I am using Big River's WiFi for free. The signal is a bit weak in my room. Sometimes I need to sit on the balcony and even then it is pokey. But "free" gives me patience when the pages load slowly!

Great report, Jean! See if you can find out more specificallly when in "spring" the free internet starts. We arrive at AKV March 1.

You are missing all the "fun" around here! Even with below zero temps, it snowed yesterday, and traffic accidents were the problem for the day. There were 120 some during rush hour alone. Down here in Lakeville, there seems to be a bad spot for some reason, and both yesterday and today saw the freeway closed for a time due to accidents here in Lakeville.

Hope you get lots of nice weather to help thaw out before you come home! Looks like we will be 30 on Saturday when you come home!

Are you anywhere near Chatfield Minn.? It is an hour outside of Rochester.

Hey, Diane,
We will have nice weather here today and Wednesday, then colder again Thursday and Friday (64° - 67°). But I am not complaining! We may get a sprinkle this afternoon. It poured on my way home from church Sat. night. Other than that, no rain, which is a change from the forecasts I saw a week or so ago. We have been watching Weather Channel and know that this is a good week to escape MN.
I will see if I can get any update on the free internet date and post if I do.

Hey, Lexxie,
Using Big River's wi-fi now! Also was using something called "free public wi-fi" for a while????

Jean, so glad you were able to get it! I couldn't get on the public wifi - I think maybe I was too far from the lobby. I can't wait for the free internet - paying $10 a day is just wrong!
