Just checked in (3:00 P.M. here) and room was ready. We are in 2041, a BW view just a little ways to the left of Boardwalk Joe's. This room has the solid wall balconies (of which I am not fond) and I also prefer an upper floor, but them's the breaks. Everything is clean and in good condition, as far as I can tell. 4001 and 3001 were also available, but my girlfriend is having some health issues and the long walk to those rooms would have been a lot. As it is our park time will be limited, unless we decide to do a wheelchair. GOOD NEWS-- we got Nazareen for our mousekeeper! I know that she is usually in this station and was so happy to see her. She is just the best.
It is only 63° here today and windy, so it certainly is not balmy. But it's not Minnesota either (-4° when we left this morning). Our plane had mechanical trouble so we had to deplane and change to another aircraft. We were 2 hours late getting in. Got a never-driven RAV4 at Alamo. Love that kiosk. Took 3 minutes to check in. Owners Locker was waiting (had a text message from Brian and John, so I knew that before I got here).
I am using Big River Grill's internet connection for free again from my balcony!
Off to unpack and then church tonight (so I don't have to deal with worrying about the dsylight savings time issue and maybe be late tomorrow morning). I love you, WDW!

sounds like you're having a great time
are you in a 1 bedroom?
never heard of nazareen......
so, give us more details (where is dinner going to be, illuminations from your balcony planned for tonight, tomorrow's itinerary, etc) so we can live vicariously through you

cool about getting BRG's wireless...:rolleyes1

We'll be there tomorrow night! Let us know how the crowds are and how warm it is.
We arrive at the airport at 9:05pm so we're not expecting a great room - we'll be taking what's left over - we'll be out of this crazy snow so we won't care!!

Please give my best to the BWV.:thumbsup2 We are in our phase of not going for a while and won't be there till October. Enjoy. I'll live vicariously through you for a while.

We'll be there in a week. Give details to talk me through the next couple of days! ;)

It's great that you got out! DH's flights (work) were cancelled today because of the 11+ inches of snow we just got. We're hoping he gets out tomorrow, to Texas.

Enjoy your stay!

Bobbi

Hi, Everyone,
We finished watching Wishes and Illuminations from the balcony and are now watching the second BW performer. The ladder guy was great, as usual, and now watching a clown/magician, one I haven't seen before.
The traffic to get to the Shrine Church was the worst ever. It took 40 minutes! After church we went to Publix and then just had snacks in the room.
Newest adventure: my girlfriend has lost her new 7 day park hopper. She got it from a reseller I never heard of. She showed it to me in the room along with the accompanying documentation, so I know she had it! We have torn the room apart, every nook and cranny, and cannot find it. The only thing we can think of is that it was mixed up with the bills she threw in the collection plate at church! So our first stop in the morning will be Guest Relations at one of the parks. Here's hoping it can be replaced. I've heard good reports from others and now it's my turn to rely on WDW customer good will. Never a dull moment. Had we known it was lost, we could have prayed to St. Anthony while we were in church (you Catholics will understand!)
It will only be about 68° tomorrow but not as windy. And then back to nice weather on Monday. Woohoo!
Oh. Forgot to mention that we have the new furniture on both balconies (we have a dedicated one bedroom). It looks like wrought iron but is really cast aluminum, I think, because it is lighter weight. It is white with white webbing that seems to be a heavy plastic. Still the cheap-o small square plastic tables, at least on our balconies. Didn't bring a card reader or a cable to upload my photos or I would post a picture.
Hey, Bobbi! Good luck to your DH. I lit a candle for Helen and wrote a message in the book for her!

Jean, is Shrine Church a Catholic church? I've been trying to locate one close to BWV. If so, how far away in miles would it be? Here's wishing you warm weather!pixiedust:

Have a great trip. We stayed in room 4001 on our first trip and the view of Illuminations from our balcony was wonderful. Good luck replacing your firend's pass. Did you by any chance take a picture of the back of the pass? I've heard that helps to get a replacement.

67 days and counting to our May trip with DS and his fiance - 2 BR BW view. Can't wait!

Not to worry, you picked a good week. The weather is going to be nice and I would imagine small crowds. Is there a saint for small crowds? If so let me know who he is please. :thumbsup2

Not Jean, but yes the Shrine is a Catholic Church. Queen of the Universe. Here's the link, and there are directions. It's about 5 miles from BWV.

Jean, DM's in the hospital, low sodium is what they are treating, and it seems to be working, she's lucid and chipper and took a few laps around the halls with her walker and my sister for company. We appreciate your prayers, and intentions. DH has to fix our garage door before he heads out today. Door was iced to ground, screws pulled out of door when button was pushed to open door. I'm hoping prayers to St. Anthony,(maybe St. Jude) helps your friend in her situation.:goodvibes

Hi Jean, I'm loving your reports from BWV. We just purchased there sight unseen and are waiting to close. Can't wait to take our first trip home!

I hope you have good luck replacing your friend's ticket. Have you thought of calling the church to ask them if they found a ticket in one of their baskets?

Thanks Bobbi! This looks real close, can definitely take a taxi over to. Saying prayers here today for your DH and Jean's friend to find her ticket!:wizard:

First stop this morning was GR at MK. They replaced girlfriend's ticket, no problem! We wouldn't have needed to tear apart our room. Still wish that we knew what happened. We may be going to the gift shop at the Shrine Church later in the week and if we do I think I'll ask if a ticket was found, just to satisfy our curiosity.
We decided on MK today because we thought the crowds would be low with people sleeping late during the time change, waiting for the weather to warm and some going to church. Great move! We did Buzz 3 times, Speedway, Small World, Winnie, Carousel, Haunted, Pirates, Philharmagic and were our of there in 3 hours! My girlfriend can't do any bumpy or jerky stuff, so we don't do any of the coasters. It is fun to do the kiddy things. I have been babysitting pre-schoolers for several trips and have not been in Haunted since all the changes. WOW! Great improvement. I said "Hi!" to Richyams when I passed the Fred tombstone.
For those of you coming soon, weather will be really nice soon. There are people in the pool now because it is sunny, but here on my balcony it is cool in the shade. We may only do Illuminations tonight and save the other night shows for warmer evenings ahead.
I'll light another candle for your mom, Bobbi, when we are back at the shrine. Glad that she is doing better.

great to hear about the pass  (imho, asking saint anthony still works even if the answer is sometimes different from just "finding" the lost item).

ahhhhhh, watching illuminations from the balcony:cloud9: that is probably my single most favorite thing to do in all of WDW.

out of curiousity: have you noticed any difference in the glasses, dinnerware, etc? just wondering if anything changed in the larger units, as in the studios (mugs & glassware).

glad to hear you're having fun
laurie s:)
