Live from BCV...but no photos.

We stayed in a BCV studio in December and it had a DVD player. It was a dedicated studio though!

Thanks for the info. Did your studio have one of the new flat screen TVs?

That doesn't sound correct. I wish I could remember for certain what our lockoff had last year but I thought it had a DVD. Anyway - since a lockoff is a 1BR and Studio and the studios are supposed to have DVD's then I think it ought to have one. I'd call maintenance rather than housekeeping.

I had occasion to call both Housekeeping and Maintenance last week...the same lady answered both time so I'm not sure it matters. At any rate, yesterday morning I saw a lady who I think was either a manager or more likely housekeeping supervisor. I asked her about it and she told me that the studios are not supposed to have a DVD player. If someone wants one, you need to call. My daughter was staying in the studio portion and didn't really care but did think we've had them in the past.

I wonder if when the new TVs went in, there was a mixup about the DVD players. We'll have to see if others have the same experience.:surfweb:

It acted like the batteries were on the way out but it was the same for both remotes in our one bed room. There was about a 10 second delay when trying to switch any channels and/ or volume when you try to put on the weather in the morning without waking everyone up it was a real pain because sometimes it would work or not, you wouldn't know with a long delay. Picky I know but it is a little silly to be happening to a bunch of relatively new tv. Someone was asleep at the switch installing these.
WVL remotes vvery simple and worked great/timely.
I'm done acting like a ninny.:goodvibes

Great description. LOL about being a ninny.:rotfl: It does sound like we're being silly but it was very frustrating. I like to check the weather or news while we're getting ready in the am. My DH wanted to watch some games and it was annoying. To get to the Disney channel for our son took probably a minute or so. It didn't seem to matter if we tried scrolling or entering the number...there was that delay or complete lack of response!

Thanks for the BCV update. I hope it warms up for you for the rest of the trip. I'm trying to remember about the DVD player but can't, sorry.

If all the cake in the room is due to a birthday, wish your daughter, or whoever it is, a very magical birthday!!:wizard:

Thanks, Lisa. We celebrated our anniversary last week and also ordered a belated birthday cake for our college age daughter. She was so surprised.

We're home now. Other than Friday and Saturday, the weather was sunny and bright if unusually cold so no complaints. Poor runners though!

The studios at BCV most DEFINITELY had dvd players. DH and I stayed there a few times last year, most recently in September, and our favorite thing to do is stop and pick up a movie on our way back from the parks. We did this almost every night of our vacations, and we always stay in studios. Not sure why your lock off doesn't have one, but they should bring a player up for you!

Thanks, do you remember if you had the new TVs? And were your most recent experiences in dedicated or lockoffs?

Hi there BCV23 :) Hope you have a wonderful trip. I am looking forward to reading your updates. BTW, what's your view. Just curious. :flower3:

Hi! Thanks, we had a wonderful trip. We love BCV and it was wonderful to be back "home." Our view was of Dunes Cove pool. We were in a 2 BR with rollinshower. There are five such rooms and they are stacked so we knew where we would be just not the floor.

We had lots of fun with family. Citricos and California Grill were wonderful as always. We had a very nice lunch at GF Cafe which is a must do for us. We continue to dine off site more often but also enjoyed lunch at Chefs and a fun time at Hoop Dee Doo with 11 of us total. For the first time ever, we missed breakfast at Kona Cafe although not for lack of trying. I had to cancel our reservation to take our son to the doctor. BTW, if anyone needs a convenient, clean and excellent urgent care, America's Urgent Care was great. It is in Celebration but very close to WDW. It's on Celebration BLVD shortly after World Drive intersects with it.....closer than DVC headquarters. The doctor was very thorough.

I share your curiosity. And now I understand about the remotes. Since I was solo, I wasn't concerned about waking anyone else up. However, I can certainly understand now how they can be a bit of a PITA for those who have sleeping family.

The only problem I had with volume that it is set too high. It used to be set at a comfortably soft volume but I would find myself jumping to turn it down after the power finally came on.:rotfl:

We were in a dedicated studio for Fri and Sat night and we did have a DVD player. Our unit had recently been rehabed and looked great!

Our unit was in great shape, too. :thumbsup2

Did one of you run?

I can't understand that lady that told you that studios aren't supposed to have DVD players. I had one as far back as 2007. And when I was at BCV in October, I had both a flat screen TV and a DVD player in my studio. Coincidently it was the same studio I'd stayed in back in 2007. I noticed that it was a different DVD player (newer style, I guess) and the whole unit looked recently refurbished. As an aside, when I stayed there in 2007, the unit looked so old, worn, shabby, that I complained to the maintenence manager (chief of engineering? I don't know his exact title, but he was around in a shirt and tie telling people "we need to do this...., attend to this", etc. while they were all taking notes) when I ran into him. I was very pleased to see the studio looking so much better. Here's my old DVD player from 2007-

I don't understand them saying that the studios shouldn't have DVD's either. Even the DVC website says that BCV studios should have them! ;)

Thanks for more detail. Were you in a dedicated studio in October? I was surprised when both ladies told me no DVD in the studios. When I first called, I really suspected that some previous occupant had stolen the player. But neither woman hesitated in their answer to me.

Our unit looked great as did the ones we had last Jan (2 BR lockoff) and March (one BR).

One of these days, we'll run into each other at BCV.

Thanks. Good to know that the website says there should be one.

I wonder if it was an oversight in this one room, someone really did steal it, or a mistake was made resort wide when the TVs were replaced.

No, I was in a lockoff studio, #422.
Your mention of someone stealing something reminds me of a rather embarrassing incident I had the first time I stayed in a BWV studio. When I first walked in, I was SURE someone must have stolen my coffee table (not knowing BWV studios didn't have coffee tables). So my first call was to housekeeping to tell them that "the coffee table was missing when I got here, it wasn't me who took it." Once they told me that there wasn't one, I felt pretty dumb.

So funny. :rotfl:

I want to add one more thing which I hope will end this report on a positive note which is much more reflective of our trip.

On Thursday, my DH and our two younger grown children were at DAK while I ran some errands. I dropped back at BCV to pick up something real quickly...HA! I locked my keys in the car. First time in all my years of driving. I was so ticked at myself. Anyway, the back window was down about 4-5 inches so I thought I might be able to unlock the car that way. Retrieved a wooden hanger from the villa and tried. No luck. Went back for the broom and tried again. I would try for 10-15 minutes and give up. Then try again. On and on for about 3 hours. If anyone saw a woman walking back and forth to the parking lot with a broom last week....that was an irritated me! Anyway, my last trip down a young couple pulled up next to me and preceded to spend 20 minutes or so trying to help me. They had just arrived for their first onsite vacation. In the end the DH was able to hook the keys with the broom and pull them back to the floor of the car. He punched open on the fob and I was in. I could have cried. They told me they weren't leaving until they got me in the car. Isn't that sweet?
