Does anyone have experience with littles riding Guardians? How did they do?

My son will be just about tall enough to ride Guardians. He'll be right at 4 yrs old.

I know everyone will say "you know your kid best"...but my concern isn't he will be scared, it's the motion sickness/disorientation.

Unfortunately it is impossible to predict motion sickness reactions on GOTG. The motion is unlike anything else so some people who normally have issues are fine, some who normally have issues have issues and some who have never had a motion sickness issue feel like puking at the end (that was a 70yo family member of mine who had never been motion sick a minute in his life- and it wasn’t a fluke of what he ate or anything as he tried again a year later & same result).

You'd know your kids best with motion sickness as well.

I don't tend to get motion sick although lately I do seem to be getting some. I think it may be from my hysterectomy this past spring oddly enough because I didn't feel this way last year.
I don't get sick on GotG but after getting off it felt like I spun myself around a hundred times to walking up and then back down the flight of stair was slightly challenging.

If your kids like to twirl in circles I think they would do fine lol. But again you know your kids limits the best.

My daughter was 4 when we went back in december and she LOVED it. My son who was 8 would not ride.... I wouldnt force them if they dont want to ride.... it is intense and being terrified to start will make it worse. But if they want to try, I say go for it

I honestly don't consider it to be much of a motion sickness ride at all. My son has been tall enough since he was 3 and it's his favorite ride, to the point where many of our park days include a trip to Epcot first as long as we're able to get a good boarding group, and then hopping elsewhere.

I probably wouldn't do it back-to-back with Mission Space: Orange but other than that I wouldn't worry.

Thank you very much for all the responses.

We'll see how he does on some other "big rides" and if he's doing well, we can give Guardians a go!

We took our four year old on it, and she absolutely loved it! None of my kids have experienced any motion sickness with it, but like previous posters have mentioned, you can't really predict it since the ride is truly its own thing. I agree that if your little wants to ride it, let them give it a shot! It's really an awesome ride!

Guardians is kind of an unusual ride in terms of people's reaction to it. Some people who normally get motion sickness didn't when riding it and others who never have before, did. In most discussions I've seen, about 1/3 of people get mildly to severely motion sick. I was one of the people who didn't expect motion sickness, but I felt very sick. This was something I wrote soon after it opened:
Some people who never/seldom have issues with motion sickness are having problems with this ride and some who have problems with lots of rides aren’t having problems. Some have also found their usual medication for motion sickness isn’t working on this and others report it working better than usual.

I think the biggest variable might be what kind of motion causes issues for people on other rides and to what extent/how it is present or combined on this.
For some people, it’s screens. For others, it’s the up and down of roller coasters, the drops or how smooth the motion is. For some it’s spinning, especially being turned in a direction that doesn’t match the direction the vehicle is going. For some, it’s banking or turns. Or how long the ‘problem’ motion lasts.

This is a fast, but smooth roller coaster with pretty much constant banking. It has a backwards launch, which wasn’t a problem for me, but might be an issue/disorienting for some.
It’s pretty much constant banking turn going right into another banking turn. Many of the turns are pretty tight and there are no lifts or slower spots to give a breather between banking. There are screens everywhere you look and the ride car uses ‘Omni-motion’ like Haunted Mansion to point your ride car toward the screen/area you are supposed to look like. Where you are pointed is often not the same direction as the vehicle is traveling.
The difference compared to Haunted Mansion is the speed of motion - it’s one thing to have your doom buggy sideways compared to the track while going slow. It’s very different to do the same thing on a fast, banked turn.

Guests who don’t have issues with those specific elements might not have issues.
And some who haven’t had issues with the elements separately or slowly might have issues with the combination.

My daughter is 6, but pretty small for her age, and absolutely loved it. My 9 year old and I took dramamine. Weirdly I can spin the tea cups like crazy and be fine, but GoTG just does something different to me.

The moral of the story is that Guardian's really depends on the person. I'm still baffled by the steep set of stairs leading off that ride...

My 6 year old had a bigger issue with the darkness of the pre-show than the ride itself. She is a bit wobbly when we first got off so caution for your little on any stairs

If you are concerned about coming down the stairs, there is also a large elevator

My kids were 10, 8, and 6 when they rode it. They weren’t traumatized and didn’t get sick, but they also didn’t want to go on it again. So pretty much the same reaction they had to Tower of Terror. They love FOP and other roller coasters like Space Mountain.

Yes, for my husband (who loves things like RnR), spinning is the trigger. He hates teacups and rode GoG only once. He literally lost his breakfast. Said he loved the music, though.

My daughter is only 2, so we have awhile. But my husband never gets motion sick on rides and definitely did on Guardians and will not do it again. I do get sick on rides sometimes, and was totally fine on Guardians and loved it.

I was waiting for my family to ride the ride and was waiting near the exit. I saw a mom and her son, who might have been about 10, walk out of the exit. The poor boy threw up right on the ground. Maintenance must be used to it as they had it cleaned up very quickly. It's really hard to predict how anyone will react.
