Little sick over my flights!!

So I purchased one way tickets for the first time through air tran I wasn't 100% sure if we would stay 8 or 10 days so I put them off.. I checked two days ago and they were the same price I was about to buy them and got distracted.. I come back today to purchase and I can't find any tickets I mean any under $500-600.00!! ONE WAY!!
I know no one can really tell me flight prices but did I royally mess up here?? I am just sick this would make a trip for eight really go over the top! Is Air Tran like that a lot? nothing one day then things open up??

I assume you were planning on going from SEA. You might want to check Alaska (www.alaskaair.com) or Southwest (www.southwest.com). You could also look at a search engine like www.orbitz.com.

Wait and check back periodically, I'm sure the prices will go back down.

Do be aware that if there are 7 or fewer seats available at a lesser price and you plug in 8, you'll get a more expensive price quoted.

Also, better to buy directly through the airline instead of through a search engine or on line agent. It is much more of a hassle if you need to make changes if there is a middleman involved.

Thanks for all the replies.. I am still pretty worried I had coupon vouchers for Air Tran so I ended up paying less than $75.00 for our flights there.. and was hoping for the same deal on the way home.. the prices stayed the same every time I checked! I am trying to buy the flights split up anyways, 2 ppl on one and six on another. I really hope things change! Am I trying to buy to close to the date for airtran's early deals, and that is why things are looking so dismal?

seattle to mco...........outrageous every single airline I search!!!!! UGH!! We took advantage of the kids cruise free Sailing date of 3/28 but with flights so expensive, the deal isn't sounding too good !! I am in panic mode!! Do you think flights will go down? What airlines typically refund if we purchase now and the prices go down? I am just not used to paying these high fees for tickets!!

Are you trying to buy return tickets for the trip on your ticker that says its only 22 days away?

I'll be honest...if you're looking to buy tickets for a flight that's about a month away the window for a cheaper ticket may be shutting a lot sooner than you think.

In most cases I've seen, any ticket purchased 21 days or less before travel is ALWAYS sky-high.

I'm not 100% this is true as we tend to drive... but I had read before that airline prices are always high on the weekends and then they tend to go back down after midnight on Tuesday. (Midnight on where ever their corperate office is)

If that's the case, hopefully next week they will go back down for you.

i am sick too. My date to arrive was available but my return was not (the day before was urgg) anyways i waited and now it is %500.00 more for our family of 4 plus the time I wanted was gone and I am not going for ANOTHER 5 MONTHS

I've been stalking fares for a while now since I'm responsible for getting the tickets for 10 of us from different cities. I've noticed that Airtran seems to buck the trend and lowers their rates on Saturday mornings. So try again first thing Saturday and see if they're down or not.

I swear by hotwire. I fly out of Detroit but I always find better deals here than the airlines themselves and other sites like orbitz or even discount lines like spirit. I also found one way tickets are always more expensive in than round trip.

This was my first time buying one ways.. I only did it because of the Air Tran coupons they put out a while back for $25.00 off which brought our flight to about $75 each way which saves us a bit I typically pay around $220.00 round trip.. on the bright side I did find return from a few others that have return for around $100 so maybe I am only out $25 each person.. not as bad as I was thinking! But I am buying TODAY!! I always buy really early not sure what made me wait especially with air tran where you can change flights so easily! Lesson learned
