little query about half board

Good evening, just a quickie.

Regarding half board, do you have too book half board vouchers for all members of your family for the duration of your stay?

Reason i ask is that my son is a very very fussy eater, so i was wondering because he eats so little, could i just order vouchers for myself and my wife, and then just pay on the day for my sons meal? We will be lucky if he will sit down and eat a plate of chips so buying him a voucher would be a complete waste of money.
