Little Ones Magic Hour

But in the end it isn't your call or my call to make. That's up to Disney. My point is you can't get mad at people taking advantage of this special program if there are not clearly defined age limits. And while my 8 year old may know there is a person in the costume he DOES believe in the magic of Disney and Santa and the Easter Bunny. When he got a postcard from Mickey himself he had a grin from ear to ear and even took it to school to show his friends. An age shouldn't indicate when a kid can stop believing in a little bit of magic and pixie dust.
It is the same mentality that many have about adults getting autographs and pictures with the characters. Does it really matter as long as everyone is having a good time?
The flip side is, many parents of young kids want those of us in line to make exceptions about their children having to wait in the lines for rides, etc. Or giving up a spot at parades for their children or older kids coloring and making masks at KidCot. So where do we draw the line? I say that we can beat this issue to death but until Disney enforces it, people will continue to take advantage of every aspect of their WDW vacation that they can.

But since its called "Little Ones Magic Hour" Disney probably assumed they wouldn't need to define age limits because people would generally think it was directed at small children.

I never think my child shouldn't wait in line or be pushed in front of people for parades at the last minute. But I will be a little annoyed if we do attend Little Ones Magic Hour and its crowded with older kids and adults, and my little one doesn't get to do what the hour was originally intended for.

i have two 'little ones' and two not so little ones that my dh and i will be taking to this event. we will be spending time there together as a family. i think it is ridiculous for anyone to judge who should or should not be able to attend. unless, like previous posters have said, disney themselves strictly enforce an age limit. ...which would be hard to do since all of these 'little ones' hopefully come equipped with some responsible ADULT parents.

I never said I was going to bring my 8 year old to this. And I didn't say I was for or against adults going. My statements have been that until Disney sets down specific age limits then adults and older child will attend. Disney seems to enjoy being vague when it comes to extras that are free. The Magic Hour, KidCot, etc. But boy a 10 year old is considered an adult for the dining plan. So then what is a little one? Under 18? Under 10? Under 5? Do you see where the line is fuzzy?
I understand you want your baby to have an enjoyable experience, I think we all want a fun vacation. But I don't always get everything I want either. So I suck it up and take it in stride and enjoy what I do have. Having a few older kids or adults around for the Magic Hour should not rain out your parade. Make the best of the situation.
And I will say no more. I could say many things but I will store my :furious: suit for another day!

The line doesn't seem so fuzzy to me. I was there at Mk the end of August for a Little Magic Hour but we were there for a CP ADR. We were waiting in that crowd of people for the park to open and while we were waiting the CM offered people the Little One's brochure which clearly states everything mentioned in it, including the Little One's Magic hour, is to be enjoyed by those 5 and under.

I still have the brochure upstairs somewhere. I'll have to dig it out and read it more carefully now.

I just don't get why people can't voice their opinion on this perk, no matter what you opinion is, without being told you're wrong to 'judge' others. It's an opinion that's all and that's what this board is all about. If you don't agree with an opinion, that just fine but no need to tell others how they should feel or how they are so judgemental when all they were doing was voicing their opinion. An opinion on the matter does not make one judgemental.

WOW! Thanks for posting this! I didn't even know about the "Little Ones Magic Hour" My little one will thank you too. We have ressies for breakfast at CP so we can ride some rides before going there :)

I looked on the Disney web site and it didn't say anything about 5 and under for the magic hour. In fact, this is what it does say: Little Ones Magic Hour Benefit‡
As a special benefit for Disney Resort Guests, Fantasyland® in Magic Kingdom® Park will open one hour early on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays during the Little Ones Travel Time. Resort Guests can enjoy an extra hour of fun at select Fantasyland® attractions and fun magical experiences with beloved Disney Characters.
Maybe your brochure is more specific and if it is then great! But this is the info I could get from the Disney site.

As to your second statement, if you are talking about what I have said then I am sorry you misunderstood. I never judged anyone or told them how they should feel. I was and am simply stating the other side.

I would love to attend this and just stand back and watch. Not all adults want to take the characters attention away from the little ones. Some of us actually feel so much magic watching the delight on the faces of these precious children.. even if they arent our own.

And how do people like this EMH?

I didn't quote anyone specific so my 'statement' was just in general. There was at least one post that used the word judge in it and that is what I'm referring to.

Is there anywhere I can find official info on this? I would like to go (no kids) but won't be at disney until Dec 29-Jan3. It would be nice to find some written info to get an idea on how long this will take place.

Disney does not "turn away" guests unless they don't have a RESORT KEY.

If you saw someone refused, it might have been for THAT reason.

We actually have friends there right now who tried to do this this week and were not allowed in with their two older sons 10 &13. They had to wait for normal business hours they were told.

They are staying on property.

Not wanting to get in an argument or be flamed just telling you what mom called and told me :confused3

nevermind......found it.

it's okay if you quote me, since that is what you were referring to. :wave2:

perhaps 'judge' was the wrong word to use, even though it is my opinion that people here may be being judgemental of others. i have younger children and happen to have older children as well (darn! they DO have to grow up!) and we will all be there to enjoy this time together. it is, again my opinion, that other people should not assume that their children, because they are of a certain age, will enjoy something more than anyone else. believe it or not, my adult dh and i are not going just to crash the 'little ones' party and we aren't just bringing along our other two older kids (9&10) to crowd up the event and steal time with the characters! we are going to enjoy this time that disney has set aside for families with young children and we will be going as a family. i know it will be fun for everyone and no one age will enjoy it more than another.

Your mom called and told you about a friend who said...

This is fast turning into an "Urban Legend."

"This really happened! I heard it from my...
brother, friend, sister-in-law, piano teacher, dog-trainer, Lamaze coach, tree surgeon, etc."

Exactly!

What's so bad about coming to watch the fun and enjoyment the characters bring to little ones? My DD, although not a toddler any more would enjoy just seeing all the characters interact, sing and dance. :)

I will have a toddler so I'm not worried about the turned away thing, but I'm glad to hear the lines aren't so bad... I was worried there would be a lot of people there and DD wouldn't have "her" special time with the characters. :) She usually just gets knocked over by the bigger kids. :eeyore:
