Little Mermaid in Soft Opening right now!

When DCA opened this morning at 10am and the LM ride was opened during the rope drop. There was a huge wave of people heading on over to the LM ride. I only had to wait 5 minutes to get on the ride. After I got off the ride, the lines were extened to the end of the other side of the building and even on the right side has been extended later during the day. It must have been at least a 30-40 minute wait to get on the ride that morning.

Also during that morning, there was a stage that was set up in front of the building right across from the PP viewing area.

I did a quick solo trip last night hoping to catch it and was fortunate to be able to hop on with only about a 15 minute wait. I thought the attraction was very cute also but thought it was worth maybe a half hour wait at most. I definitely enjoyed it but felt that the clamshells were kind of close to each other. There's no sense of seclusion that you get like when you're on the HM clamshells. I thought LM clamshells felt too close together.

Totally. It wasn't tight in a cozy way, it was tight in an I feel like I'm invading other peoples experience way. Didn't love that and wondered if the ride being darker would have helped give a more 'private' feel (I felt it was too light....though I imagine it's perfect for the young kid crowd ;) ).

Saw it twice last night. Excellent for the kids. Moves extremely fast. Lots of stopping. Three times for the two rides. Definitely not a thrill ride.

ETA rode it again during world of color because it was walk-on! I spent the entire ride looking for hidden mickeys, with no luck! I also spent a lot of time looking backwards looking for Whoopie Goldburgs head mounted on a wall...

You should try counting exit signs instead... there's a bunch of them! Last time we counted 16!!

It's funny that you mentioned the exit signs. I kept noticing them in our 1 trip around the ride. I almost wonder if it's because the ride is very up close & personal. A lot of the scenes are RIGHT in front of you. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it puts all of the signs right in front of you, too.

Wow! You should have seen the crowds at LM yesterday! They were doing a special preview only for annual pass holders that "won" the right to see it early. The wait was 90 minutes and the line snaked down to corn dog castle and hopped across the walkway into the wet zone entrance for world of color viewing. I felt really bad for these people, it seemed like a cheap ploy to get people in the park on what should have been a slow day!

90 minutes with only APs?!?! :scared1: And that's only the APs that care enough to come check it out as soon as they can. That's pretty telling for what it will be during the summer when it's open to the general public. Insanity!! :lmao: And I imagine Star Tours will be worse

Could be a bad omen, indeed. What surprises me is this didn't require a winning ticket, just an AP. And it was advertised. Why weren't all these AP holders hearing about the soft openings going for the last week and try to ride it then? It amazes me but I understand that many AP holder don't go to sites like the DIS for imformation, or visit the AP site and basically just show up to the parks with no planning other than it's Sunday lets go. That worries me about what will happen this weekend.

we went 20 minutes after first WOC show (awesome show btw, now i know what a roast must feel like). the que was maybe 20 minutes long for the LM ride, they were even condensing the que as we were moving along.after we got off the ride, i looked a there was no line. so after first WOC show might be a good time to go :)

there was also a new shop across from the attraction, it was small inside and only ap's were allowed, that had a line all day as well.

Even more surprising s that this was on a Tuesday! I'm worried for those that try and ride it this Sunday!

OMG, last night was insane crowds!!! Funny how Mermaid has had 15 minute lines in a quiet opening the last week yet this advertised was that busy! Did you see the line to get into the Embarcadero Gifts?

I heard about that line to get into the gift shop. Craziest line I've heard of since Indy opened. Not longer, but crazy since it was for the special AP gift shop.

It went back to the restrooms by Grizzly. I don't know how many were being let in at a time. My teen was bummed, she really wanted to go in there. My patience were gone by that point.

For those who have seen it, did you guys feel they kinda skimped out on the ending? I've heard the finale really is a let down. But at least it's better than Snow White's Scary Adventure's ending, I will say that much.

*Witch gets crushed*

*Door opens*

"...and they lived happily ever after."

However, a lot of people think the original ride plans would be much more enjoyable...

(Which are here by the way. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHh4ci2kn_k)

Personally I see why they tuned it down. That ride could be pretty frightening.

I think a lot of people expected that, original plan, and that set them up for dissapointment when it was different. They should familiarize themselves with the saying, "The best laid plans of mice and men oft go awry".

to give an idea of the crowd they are expecting, they now have the queue ( :) ) going THROUGH the WOC viewing area (yup, you have to cross the street). luckily the ride moves tons of people since the clam shells are literally shoulder to shoulder (you can shake the hand of the person in the next clam shell) thats how close they are.

about fifteen radio booths are also set up outside of the building, i'm guessing to broadcast live on opening day.

:lmao: I always thought the Snow White ending was kinda odd. I always laugh when I get off that ride.
I am not going to read or watch anything that is gonna give any part of this ride away until i see it in person in August!
But wow!! 90 min waits!!! :scared1:

They missed the whole scene when they took down Ursula. One minute she is there.. The next they live happily ever after???
