and the news says, "Al qaeda is planning to commit more hijackings through this summer." It makes me sick to my stomach! I had the NWA website pulled up and I was reading the rules blah blah blah. I should just go for it shouldn't I?

I heard this on the news this morning too! Supposedly coming from more than one source, that Al Quaeda is planning on using airplanes again. The code color won't be raised since they don't want to hurt an already weakened airline industry.

That said though, security should be even better, and I would book my flights too. This summer I hesitated a little about booking our flights out on July 3rd, but then I said, the closer to the holiday, the better the security.

hubby and I arrived home the night ...well early morning before 9-11....woke up to this horrible thing happening to our US.....we already had our flights to go again to Disney with our whole family in april....we were nervous but we did it....we went....we did it again in september and then xmas.....we always have to be on alert.....and know that security is going to be the end of these guys....just know that security is so good now.....I wonder how we got thru....

Ugh. I hear you.
I'm leaving on Sept. 18 and I'm pretty nervous.
But I'm not changing any plans. I just play the odds: There are so many flights that take off and land every hour - the chances of there being an accident or incident on my particular flight are pretty high.
At least that's what I keep telling myself.

I say book it! This is exactly what those people would like us to do, live in fear. I refuse to do that!
Life goes on, just be aware of what goes on but live life as you normally do.

I booked it- they kept us from going to WDW in 2001... they aren't doing it again! It's much more dangerous to drive... I keep reminding myself of that.

I agree with Dan- the threats are here to stay. We're gonna go and have a good time. They aren't going to ruin my enthusiasm!!

I'm with the others Porrie.......book 'em! IMO the media should keep their mouths shut unless they've got real information and are able to produce it. You've waited and planned for this dream trip for too long to let some "threat" get in your way.

I understand how you feel. It took my family months to convince me to go back on a plane. I was never afraid to fly, I have been all over the world, my oldest DD was born in Okinawa, Japan.
I kept saying "No way, they are using the planes as missles."

Then there was this one event, a man got on a plane and tried to light his shoe on fire, (sorry, does someone have this story? I avoided the news alot when DS went into the service) and the passengers on the plane STOPPED him. Some very large men and a woman.

My point is, when I go, we are:
1 ex-82nd Airbourne Army, 6' 2" 200lbs
1 6'3" 300 lb man, bar bouncer
1 Angry mom who will fight to the death to protect her babies
and that is just in our party..

Airport security is tight, some flights have air marshals and we are Americans who will not be taken down again. They caught us off guard ONCE. I am willing to "bet the rent" that on any flight there are other Americans who will fight for you, I will. Always remember. we are the home of the free, because of the brave. Do not live in fear, but be aware.

I'm proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free
And I wont forget the men to died who gave that right to me
And I'll gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today........
