Is there a website that lists new hotels in Orlando? I prefer to stay in a hotel that has recently opened.

there are not a lot of new hotels - first the downturn in 1999/2000 - then 9/11/2001 - the hotels are finally being to turn a profit. that say - when I was there a couple of weeks ago - Disney hotels were fine - they were doing great.

the surrounding area not so great. Despite it being spring break - many, many hotels have vacanies...

why good for us consumers - not so great for the hotels.

the newest are probably the most expensive - Gaylord, Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriottt.

oh on Disney property - Pop is the newest WDW hotel only.

SSR is the newest (and still building) DVC hotel ( also WDW hotel)

now there are names changes happening all the time. but these are not new hotels...

There are not alot of new hotels but there are some newer condo complexes and refurbished places.

Hotel Royal Plaza in DTD has just underwent a multi-million dollar renovation. They sustained major hurricane damage in 2004. They are offering great rates right now. I've seen $111 a night in some places.

The fountains is fairly new. HGVC on international Dr is fairly new as well and very beautiful.

As for condos, Windsor hills is supposed to be great, very new and nice amenities as well as close to Disney. You can get a 3 bed condo for $89-$99 a night (No housekeeping though). Gaylord Palms is beautiful and a few years old.

Pop century is the only disney resort that has been built in the last couple of years. Though some of the resorts have been renovated.

Just remember that renovated rooms can be just as nice as new ones with the added benefit that the hotel staff are already trained.

We stayed at the Orlando Omni off of the Champion's Gate I4 exit last July.
I got a good rate through Travelzoo $99 plus resort fee.

It was a beautiful hotel, smallish room but luxury linens and marble floors and fixtures in the bathroom, georgeous lobby, very nice large pool, zero entry area also adjoining a small lazy river. Very nice landscaping and outstanding service.

I would go back at that rate in a heartbeat.

I'm the same. We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge, Hard Rock Hotel and the Ritz-Carlton at Grande Lakes when they were all just a few months old. Having visited both the Ritz-Carlton and the JW Marriott next door (also at Grande Lakes) in January, I think I'd still be happy to stay at one of those, even though they're now a few years old.

We also ate at David's Club (sports bar) at the Omni Championsgate, in January. It's a beautiful hotel, maybe not quite as nice as the R-C, but it is newer.

The Gaylord Palms is still a nice hotel, too, although I don't think I'd choose it above any of the others I've mentioned.
