I saw a list of everywhere a DVC member can vacation somewhere (considerably greater number of places than listed on the DVC website) but I can't find it now. One place I saw it was on an DVC agreement but that was all text and not interactive. Can anyone help me out?

Here's a link to a search for II destinations . . .

http://disney.intervalworld.com

The Dream Book and the annual member mailing of the DVC Vacation Planner are the only places I've seen listings of all the II destinations.

All non-II destinations are listed in the DVC member site.

Here's a list of your three best options:

  • Home Resort
  • Home Resort
  • Home Resort

I suggest using the web site to see the resorts available. I have found some listed on the web site which are not in the Vacation Planner or Dreams book.

I know what the Vacation Planner is, but I'm not sure what the Dream Book is. Can anyone fill me in on that?

It is a blue, hard-cover book that is marketing material that the DVC sales guides use when discussing DVC with new prospects.

They use the Dream books quite often on the DCL presentations. The only time I have ever been given one is when I went to the general DVC presentations on the ships for folks who are not members yet.

I found the list of places to exchange into (thanks! That was awesome!) Now, how do I find out how many points we might need to stay at any of these places? I assume it is WAY more than we'll be buying.:)

I would also like to know this answer

Did you find your book or did you find a list online?

I looked at the website listed earlier in this thread. We're not members (yet!) so we don't have a book or anything. I just wondered if there is a "points list" similar to the points charts for the DVC resorts.:confused3

Thanks for the answer!

I wonder if we DVC members can get one?

I think in HIGH season, the 1 bdrms are 160 points, and the 2 bdrms are 270 points.

Is this the same for ALL locations? DH is a little hesitant to buy DVC because he doesn't want to do Disney every year. If I told him that we could do a week in Hawaii or Aruba or Montana, he'd probably jump on it. I assume that the 1BR would easily accommodate our family of four.

Those #'s were for 7 days at an II resort. The II resorts have low and high seasons, which vary by resort. I think low season is 124 points.

There are other options that you and your dh may find of interest. If you are interested in areas like Montana, one of the better options is through Club Intrawest. They have several resorts that appear easier to trade into than II, allows reservations for less than 1 week, and have very reasonable point charts. CI has several resorts across Canada.

One of CI's few non-Canadian options is San Destin, Florida, which is on the gulf coast and only 3 hours from my house. Kapeman recently reviewed this CI resort and was very pleased.

Keep in mind, many of the trades are not worth the expense. (i.e., MFs for 160 pts. is about $700-$800) That goes a long way toward paying for accommodations, and just because you got a trade to Aruba, doesn't mean you have airfare.

The best solution is to primarily purchase DVC to go to WDW, and only occassionally trade out. If you think you will only go to WDW every 3 years, then purchase enough points to bank and borrow and go to WDW every 3 years.

A couple of points about the II trades. First, understand that you are looking at a list of places you *may* be able to go, not places you will be able to go. You put in your request, and a trade may or may not be available. That said, it seems that folks willing to plan far in advance and have some flexibility ususally get what they want (i.e - if you want to go to Hawaii, you'll get in somewhere, but you may get your second choice of resorts and weeks.)

Second, at many resorts it's almost always high season. For planning, go ahead and assume that the times you will want to go will be high season.

Where can you find info about Club Intrawest? I didn't see anything on the website about it, unless it's called something else.
