I'm taking my first trip home to SSR next Sat. We bought sight unseen. Can someome please give me a list of things I need to bring, such as toilet paper, paper towels, etc. If you have a list you can post or send me to where I can find one, I would love that and so appreciative.:woohoo:

I can tell you they provide toilet paper and paper towel plus some dishwashing liquid. Are you in a studio or 1 or 2 bedroom?

Claire ;)

Thank you. We are in a 2 BR. On another note...How did you get the pic of the resort at the bottom of your signature. I''ve been trying to find our how to do it.

You'll find lots of people who can answer your questions about SSR over on the DVC boards, and I suspect this thread will be moved over there shortly.

You don't need to bring anything like toilet paper, paper towels, tissue, soap, shampoo, etc. You get all the things that are provided in a standard hotel room, and more.

In a 2-bedroom, you'll also get dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, coffee and filters, trash bags, and all the kitchen stuff like pots, pans, glasses, dishes, flatware, etc.

There is often a thread on the DVC boards with the pics for the resorts.

Fatastic!! I hade some of those things on my list to buy. How much coffee? Do I nees to bring filters?

Also, I've read that I can pay for extra towels?? We'll have 5 adults 3 kids

You'll have towles for the max occupancy of the villa which is 8 and then on day 4 is a full clean and day 8 I think is trash and towels. You can also get towels for the pool from poolside so don't need to use room towels.

you only get 1 set of small size shampoo and conditioner. I always pack both to avoid having to pay the outrageous prices in the gift shop.

In a 2BR you'll have 8 towels, 8 washcloths and 4 hand towels. We just throw our towels into the washer when we want them cleaned rather than pay for extra towels.

Yes, bring coffee filters. Other than that it really is up to you what you bring with you. We always bring some laundry detergent and pack 1/2 the clothes since there is the washer/dryer right in the room. It is SO nice not to come home to 7 or 8 loads of dirty laundry! We also do a grocery run when we arrive, getting what we need at that time.

Have a great trip!

If you need extra towels, you need to pay? You mean they don't provide them like a normal resort would? Also, what about the little shampoo and soap, can you get an extra bar of soap or shampoo or does that cost too?

DVC does not have daily housekeeping like in a regular hotel room (they do not come in & clean & make your beds). They only provide the toiletries on your check-in day. Day 4 is what they call "trash & towel" day which means they will come in and empty your trash and replenish / replace your towels - they are not there to clean tho. DVC is more like being at home than in a hotel. (They expect that you will re-use the same towel from day to day thru the first 3 days.) You can request extra towels but there is a charge. Since we're fine with re-using them I don't know how much the fee is.

I think they only provide coffee for the first day too. We usually take those Maxwell House Coffee Filter packs. They are like big tea bags - just like the packs that are provided in most hotels. You use one filter pack for 4-6 cups (2 for 8-12 cups). That way I don't have to pack filters AND coffee.

I took the Maxwell House filter packs too--they were great! I left the rest of the box in my Owner's Locker for next time! (and this from a coffee snob)

We wash our towels as needed in the washer/dryer in the room...We do not bother paying for extras.

I bring coffee, filters, ziploc bags, a large piece of aluminum foil, tea bags, a bar of soap and quarters for the tolls.

You can ask for extras. When I checked in at SSR I had 2 conditioners and 0 shampoos. I called and asked for a bottle of shampoo and they brought me about 5 each of shampoo, conditioner and lotion. I only needed one, but I got a month's worth.

I believe it's one small box of tide good for one load.

It is just one Tide...We always bring a small brand that we like...We all have sensitive skin and cannot use Tide...And one box would not be enough anyway...I do one load per day and pack it away as we go.
