Lisa's Wish Journal - Now we have gone Dopey.

Lisa, that is a huge amount of stress to go through! Our church is still going into parts of Texas for Rita relief and a lot of what they did, I think has now been undone by Ike. And they did a slideshow of the recent group that went to New Orleans and it was heartbreaking to see how much devastation is still there. Our hope is to get a spot for the four of us to over the kids fall break in 2012. But the spots go fast and with four of us, I am not sure how good our chances are. Dan and I hope someday when we retire, we can get an RV and go with various groups of retirees around the country to do stuff like that. My old Alzheimers support group leader and her husband have been doing that for years, all the way back to Andrew. We get huge blizzards and a few tornadoes, but no hurricanes so its hard for me to even envision what that is like.

You'll get back on exercise track, I think we can all relate to how some weeks, it just doesn't happen. That's what the next week is for!

Thanks Amy:hug:

What a fabulous idea of traveling to help others. DH wants to get an RV and travel for a couple years after we retire (before we move to Orlando), but I think we would become bored after a few months. This is something to think about. :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, Lisa! That is a lot of stress to go through! :guilty: I am so sorry for all that you and your family have gone through because of Katrina. :grouphug:

How is your Thursday going? Any special plans for the weekend?

I hope you have a nice evening!

Lisa, have a great weekend. I'll try to log in some to check in on you ladies while I am gone!

Hope today is a great one for you!:)

Did you ever get back on the exercise bandwagon?? It's SOOOO easy to fall off and SOOOO hard to get back on, isn't it?? But I know you can do it! :thumbsup2

Hey Lisa, just stopping by to say hi! I flew over Mississippi on Friday night and waved to you! Don't know what was going on down there, but up at 38,000 feet, it was bumpy!

Hope your week is going well.:)

:wave2:Hi everyone

Gosh, I don't know where the time has gone. :confused3 Very busy weekend. We had such nice weather that we did a lot of work outside this weekend. I think I have finally figured out how to do stuff outdoors and not have allergy problems. I bought a face mask and googles for when I work outside. Not the most attractive, but I did get a lot done this weekend and no headaches!!!!! I was tired but happy.

I have done some exercise but not near enough. I am trying though. I want to get back out to the track......perhaps tomorrow? :confused3:idea: I am certainly going to try.

Now, I am off to catch up with everyone else before I go to bed. :thumbsup2

Hi Tracy

Work has been super busy, but now I have 5 days off. My turn to get to stay home with DD. I came home so exhausted today that I fell asleep on the couch. I really did try to get up to cook dinner, but I just didn't have the energy. Gram finally got tired of waiting, so she left. :confused3

I did exercise yesterday, 42 minutes on WII. I did a lot of walking today, so we are counting that. Tomorrow, I will be back on it. (I hope:upsidedow)

Remember my friend who wants to go with me next January? A couple weeks ago, she was still so excited and was asking when we needed to sign up and what she needed to pay for first. Last night she said she might not go as she may lose her job the end of May. :sad1: As much as I want to go alone, I was really sad when she said that. One, I don't want her to lose her job and two, I was really looking forward to her going along. I sat down and worked the numbers some more and if she still saves the $$ she is going to earn this summer baby sitting as she had planned and we do our yard sale in October, I think she will be fine. But, we'll have to see.

I'm sorry to hear that your friend may lose her job and have to cancel her part of the Disney trip. :( Sending prayers for her job situation......

That's wonderful that you have the next 5 days off!:cool1:

Hope you have a great day!

Thanks Tracy! Prayers really work. Today A told me that they received notice that they will be kept (she's a teachers assistant for Kindegarten). The school will just use the assistants when other teachers are out instead of calling as many subs. Our schools are being hit hard with constant cut backs. :sad2: But also her DH told her last night (when she told him that she had told me she might not be able to go) that no, even if she did end up losing her job, he wanted her to go anyway. He can be a really sweet DH sometimes. So, the trip is back on. :cool1:

Today was a really good day. No work! (well, I did work at home) I received a microwave dinner through fedex to try and then do a survey on. I won a $25 GC from CVS. I got a $25 gift certificate from coke rewards for my rental in May  (it will cover the one day that I pay for) and my water bill was down for the second month in a row.

At the beginning of the week I got a $50 GC for CVS from MyPoints and a bag of dog treats for Roo to try and then do a survey on.
:banana::banana:

Do you know one thing I discovered though? I have a MyPoints account and DH does. (I help him with his.:rolleyes1) And suddenly there weren't any emails in his account. :confused3 When I mentioned it to him, he was like "Oh, I didn't have time to do them so I just started deleting them.":scared1::scared1::scared1: I explained to him about the $50 GC and he said "Oh, guess I shouldn't have done that." You think???? It was only one weeks worth, so not much harm done. But I'm gonna be checking more often in his now.

Wow, I can't believe DH was deleting those e-mails! At least now he knows! ;)

That is great news about your friend's job AND trip! :cool1::banana::cheer2: I bet you guys will have a blast.

Happy Easter to you and your family, Lisa!

Great news about your friend's job and trip to Disney!!!!

Have a wonderful day!

Thanks Amy and Tracy. I hope you both had a great Easter.

The weekend was super busy.

Thursday, DD and I stayed home and just hung out. In the afternoon we ran a couple errands and then picked up Chloee for her to spend the night. Goodness that child can talk (and I know exactly where she gets it from) :thumbsup2

They stayed up late, hey it's a holiday :goodvibes and got up VERY early the next morning. :faint: We went to the movies (How to train a dragon) and it was good. Much better than I expected. April came and got them, yes them.::yes:: First we signed up for the marathon, 1/2 to be exact. YES, YES, YES!!!!:banana::banana: We signed up for the 1/2. OFFICIAL! :woohoo: A took the kids and DH and I took DS out for dinner. Problem with living in a small town, we tried three places before we found one still open. Good ole Italian. Now for some good news. I have really been working on portion control and I only ate 1.5 pieces of pizza (and two bread sticks:guilty:) and I was way too full. :woohoo:

Saturday I slept late, ran a couple errands, cleaned the studio and then picked up DD. She and DS colored eggs and then neither of them would go to sleep.

Sunday DD woke us up early, excited about her basket. We went to church, had lunch at A's, the kids dyed eggs and did an egg hunt. Then we had to go home as I still had to cook for Gram and DN. Gram was mad cause we went somewhere's for lunch (I did invite her to go) instead of having her over for the entire afternoon and evening.:confused3 So she was late for dinner. I had to actually call her and she was like "oh, are you ready for us to come over now?" Oh, well. She and DN finally came over, had dinner and we watched the rest of Extreme Homes.

Monday Sophia came for the day. I let them play, then we did some grocery shopping. Had dance for DD and then more shopping. Why do I torture myself at WalMart? Why, Why, Why?

Today, I had to stay home. Sinus Migrane, need I say more. It's almost gone, but day at home by myself wasn't too bad. I only slept half the day and then did a few things. I did try to do some surveys, but it was hard to concentrate. I looked at my savings spread sheet and I think I will make all but two of my goals. :cool1: So far so good. Now to just get the every day spending under control and I will be good. I'm working on it, but it is a process.

It sounds like you had a nice Easter. :goodvibes Sorry to hear that your Gram was upset though.

Congrats on signing up for the 1/2 Marathon!:cheer2:

I hope you're feeling better today.

Thanks Tracy. I was feeling better today until I got to work. (so it didn't last long) We have concrete floors in our new building and the contractor got the idea to paint the floors. Good idea, but the floors weren't prepped properly, nor did they use the right kind of paint. So very quickly the floors looked horrid. The office has been working with the contractor to figure out the best way to fix it. We are a working building, yet also have lots of high profile visitors, so it has to be functional yet look nice. Anyway, the decision was to strip the floors and then re-paint. Since I am allergic to just about any type of odor, I asked to be notified ahead of time of when this would begin. I was out when it began and no one thought to call me at home. This morning I made the mistake of walking right by where they worked yesterday. Instant headache. They tried to convince me that it is non-toxic, (I hope so) and water based, so it shouldn't bother me. Well, pollen is non-toxic also, but it sure can cause me a lot of problems. I would never wish any of my headaches on anyone, but today when a couple of them were insisting that the stripper couldn't be causing my headache I told them I really wished they could feel my pain, then maybe they would understand. I did tell them that they had to do my hallway on the weekend and they agreed to that. Always something. :sad2:

This evening was good though. My head finally quit hurting and we had a nice quiet evening at home. Got a few things done and both kids went to bed without a fuss. Small victories. :goodvibes

Exercise and food were both out the window yesterday and today. :rolleyes1

I am glad your headache is gone and that you had some time off from work! That is great news about your friend, our district is cutting back too (which is why even with all my experience I cannot get hired on there to save my life!) and its so sad to see. Its the kids who suffer and it makes no sense to me. Let the politicians get paycuts.:rolleyes1

That is a bummer about the floors, good job making them do that on the weekend. I get horrible headaches from fumes, allergies, stress, you name it. So I am with you in preventing what I can!

DS' bday is today. He is 15!:scared1: We picked up the booklet for him to study for his learner's permit yesterday.:scared1::scared1:

I Its the kids who suffer and it makes no sense to me. Let the politicians get paycuts.:rolleyes1

I completely agree with you Amy. They are hurting the kids with these cuts. Why can't they see that? I would feel a lot better about it if the ones making these decisions would say "before any cuts are made at the schools, we are taking a % pay cut first."

So many children need the one on one they get in the first few years of elementary. What does "no child left behind" mean if they take away teachers (assistants) and increase class sizes. Kids will be left behind cause the teachers won't have time to help those that need that extra few minutes.

Sorry, rant over......

I don't know if any of you have followed this one, but little MyaRose (Wish child) passed away today. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2418557

Work was busy and food was okay. DD and I are about to go to a friend's form a makeup party. :upsidedow

DS went with DH to the bowling alley. There is a lady who makes bowlers a cake for their birthday and DS begged her to make him one. She sent DH and I pics this morning and it is great. A soccer ball rolling through the grass. I forgot to forward the email home so I could post the pic. I'll try to remember tomorrow.
