I think I could count all the cocktails I've had in my life on two hands, so I had no idea what to ask for when shopping for a bottle of rum for a coworker back home, while on 7 day cruise. I finally asked a clerk in St. Thomas shop which rum was popular in that area. He sold me a bottle (a big bottle) of a locally made rum for $3 or $4 dollars. My friend said it was the best rum she and her husband had ever had and has begged me to bring her another bottle of rum this cruise. She said it was not only very good in mixed drinks, it was fun having a locally bottled brand that she couldn't buy here. If anyone is buying liquor as a gift you might want to try this too. (by the way, this was less then 2 wks. after 911 tragedy and oddly enough, they made my adult daughter give up her tweezers ,but let her carry this big glass bottle of rum in her backpack onto the plane in Orlando.)

Do you remember the brand name of the rum?

Funny story about the tweezers. When we cruised shortly after Sept. 11, the restaurants inside the airport had plastic knives, but metal forks.....
