I haven't been keeping up with the TSA restrictions. Are you allowed to have liquids again, or can you have them if say there in a clear bottle?

Just came back and as of my flights of 11/8 and 11/5, you could bring on board any beverage purchased after going through security. They have great big barrells by the security entrances into which all the pre-security beverages (and maybe other things, though most of what I saw were bottles of water) get tossed.

They were asking people to take out their clear quart ziploc bags containing their travel sized portions of shampoo, etc -- and they were calling out to us to throw out any lip gloss, etc. or anything else containing gel.

WHY??? If the gel items are under 3 oz they are suppose to be allowed in your carry on in your "magical" ziptop quart size bag.

From the TSA website "Liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers and in a one-quart, zip-top bag."

So I guess where you were they were once again playing "make up our own rules" And they wonder why we don't like them???

3-1-1 is there new slogen

3 Ozs max that can fit into

1 quart size ziplock that can be carried by

1 passenger.

Hi ya'll

We only have 9 days left before we leave and I've started to pack already and I'm stressing over this crap. :rotfl2:

I've gotten our clear zip lock bag (really it is clear on one side & pink writing on the other....will this work) and placed my items in the bag, most of my stuff for the bag is make-up (not cheap stuff either); if they are taking gel stuff (lip gloss, eye concealer, liquid base foundation ie) why do they even have it printed on the pamphlets that we are allowed to take it on board? I'm concerned that they are going to take my cologne & all of this stuff. :confused3 I surely don't want it stolen from our checked baggage. Do you think it would be wise to bring the sheet of paper to point out to them what their pamphlet says or perhaps ask for a supervisor? :confused3 I dunno........I just know I don't want my stuff taken

A friend of mine flew this past summer and she had her luggage locked, and of course it was opened by TSA during transit (no biggie) but when she opened the luggage up a pair of dress slacks/pants (beige) were marked on with a permanent black marker. (very noticeable) She flew from Shreveport to Phoenix. Her mom had her medicine stolen in her checked baggage (bad move to put it in there in the 1st place); these TSA agents are doing what they know they "CAN" do or should I say "CAN GET AWAY WITH".

I know numerous frequent flyers who do travel with TSA print outs.

Make VERY sure that your bag is the correct size and your makeup is all under 3 oz. (3.4 oz will get it thrown out)

If they pull this IDIOT "make up the rules" ask for a supervisor. Be polite, but you have rights in spite of the fact that the TSA agnets don't want you to.

I encourage you to complain if these things happen. Not only to the TSA, but to your elected officals in DC who are SUPPOSE to oversight this agency. It's YOUR tax dollars at "waste"

I want to clarify -- they may have meant "pull out your lip gloss and put it in your clear baggie" -- but what they were trying to convey is that if you have lip gloss and lipstick in your purse, it MATTERS. Stuff like chapstick you may carry around in your purse and not think about for months at a time, even if you were meticulous about packing. And if you go through the scanner with it, then it slows up the line.

They weren't handing out baggies (that I could see), so if you packed all your cosmetics and shampoo in your checked luggage but had a $20 lipstick in your pocketbook, I assume you'd have to throw it out or hope another passenger had an extra bag for you to use. Or maybe they even sell them in the gift shops now!

Actually, both chapstick and the traditional form of lipsticks are considered by the TSA to be solids, so they can stay in your purse. But the same logic holds for mascara, which is usually purchased in the liquid form, not the cake form, must be placed in your Kip Zip.

Not that they have a clue. The last time I flew I left lip gloss in my purse. (really didn't even know I had it there so I wasn't trying to break the rules)

Two flights, two security scans and when I got home I found the lip gloss AND nail polish in my purse. :rotfl: Never noticed by the TSA.

Can miniature (individual shots ) of liquor be part of your quart zip lock bag.

Yep - should be fine.

Thanks for the advice & help !! :thumbsup2
We have a few of the complimentary coupons/vouchers from Delta; I just might have to get a cocktail or two onboard. :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Do Rx meds have to be in a clear ziplock too? I plan to put my son's and hubby's meds in my carry-on and my makeup (in ziplock) in my backpack/purse thingy. The meds are in original bottles with labels but since my son is only 10 and has no ID, should I get a letter from the doctor proving he needs the meds? Thanks in advance.

Sure. You most likely can't drink any alcohol on the plane that wasn't purchased on board - but check with your airline. But yeah, nips are less than three ounces.

As far as I know, no airline allows you to drink alcohol you dind't buy on the plane.

That said, it's a rule that I've never seen enforced against people who are drinking nips or not obviously drunk.

If I had any room left in my quart size baggie, I would put my lipstick in it just to be on the safe side. My husband flew from Ft. Myers a month ago and there they were making women put lipstick into ziplock bags, at least they were handing out the baggies. At our airpot in MI they are selling them for 54cents apiece in the giftshop :rotfl:

So what about medicine in a pill form? Just put the bottles of medicine in the plastic bag? Or can they stay in the carryon?

As long as they are pills, just leave them in the carry on. Only liquids are of concern.
"Don't ask, don't tell" is my rule for meds.
