Liquid restrictions for planes?

I have a quick question that I hope somebody can help me with. I'm flying next Saturday for the first time in 7 years (I'm excited to be going to WDW, scared to fly though!). I'm addicted to Chapstick and I carry it with me at all times. Does a regular Chapstick (not the liquid gel type) count as a liquid or not? Should I pack it in my quart sized plastic zip locked bag or is it ok to leave it in my pocket like normal? I did check the FAA website, but I couldn't tell for sure if it's considered a liquid or not.

Thanks for any help in advance! Also, if anybody has any tips for a nervous flyer, I'd love to hear them!

I beleive chapstick is fine. I left mine in my carry on with no issue.

I have a lip balm in every jacket pocket, handbag, and laptop bag.

I fly weekly around the world

No issue - it is not considered a liquid or a gel

Thank you so much for the quick responses! Now if only I could get over the pesky fear of flying...any suggestions?

I'm glad this question came up. I'm taking my 18 month old, who still takes a bottle. I use powder formula and will also take a couple of bottles of water for quick mixes. Anyone know how I need to pack these for the flight?

I average 150,000 miles a year, to destinations around the world. I am SEVERELY claustrophobic to the point where I wear clothes too big, have nightmares about tight spaces, etc.

I've conquered my issues but it takes a lot of willpower and control for me to board an airplane every single week. I believe in educating yourself - the more you know, the less fear you will have. If you know what every noise and movement means, you won't be as worried.

you may want to check out fear of flying websites - there are several good forums online.

All the info you need is on the TSA website - here:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/index.shtm

There are links to the ban on liquids, exceptions to that (including forumla) and traveling with children.

RE: powder formula. Be aware that nowhere in the exception does it mention water to mix formula, and you might not get that through, if you get a picky TSO. Best bet is to have the water actually *in* the baby bottle, rather than in a water bottle. Pre-mixed formula should always get through, but occasionally you'll encounter a TSO who wants to quibble about amounts. AFAIK, 24 hours worth is a reasonable amount, and I'm not about to carry on any less.

If you are forced to dump your bottled water at the checkpoint, you can buy more water airside. Don't depend on the plane to have it available, they often don't.
