I would love some personal info on any of you taking lipitor. problems or such?

my DH just had a stroke 3 days ago. extremely lucky he does not have extreme lasting symptoms. Docs can not figure out what caused it, so they are concentrating on prevention of another.

this includes aspirin/quit smoking/lipitor

I have started reading horror stories about lipitor.. mainly muscle pain/loss & memory loss.
please I could use some good news right now..

thanks

I'm glad your DH is recovering nicely. Strokes can be devastating. I'd be listening to my doctor and asking questions....I've been known to write my list of questions and go through them one by one with the doc. Preventing another stroke is a good goal

DH took lipitor a few years ago and he had the muscle aches and his liver enzymes came back high.... I can't attest to any memory loss because his memory is selective... He switched over to fenofibrate and hasn't had any problems. Honestly, you need to weight the good and bad of any drug.... most have side effects to some degree, but what the drugs prevent or help you with outweigh the side effects. Good luck!

Prayers for your DH-so glad there's no lasting symptoms.
I've been taking lipitor for 2 1/2 years. When I started, I didn't read the horror stories, so I guess I never expected anything to go wrong. And nothing ever has. I'm taking 10 mg, which I guess is a fairly small amount, but Dr. checked my cholesterol level at that and it was OK.

I was put on 40mg in the hospital after a "minor" heart attack, but they had to switch me off of it due to elevated liver enzymes... after trying other statins and not getting the results the doctor wanted, I'm back on 20mg Lipitor and am doing well with it. No memory loss, and no muscle pain, though I was switched off an older-type statin due to pain in my upper arms/shoulders.

I've been taking 40MG of Lipitor for a number of years and have had no problems. I see my regular doctor every 3-4 months and that includes lab work so he can stay on top of everything. My wife can't take Lipitor, though, so I guess it varies from person to person. It's always best to work with your doctor on what to take and not take.

Anderson Cooper mentioned having to take Lipitor on his show once. He hasn't keeled over yet. ;)

I took Lipitor from July 2003 - until late 2008 with no problems. I switched to Crestor after my doctor gave me some samples for a trial period - he felt the crestor was helping me more - but I never had any problems with Lipitor...like all meds - the side effects list can be scary but they are the exception, not the rule. Sending good vibes you DH's way :goodvibes

I know several people who take Lipitor and none of them have had any problems with it.

I've been taking 20 mg/day Lipitor since mid 2001 without any problems.

My DH has been on Lipitor for almost 2 years, has had no problems, and it (along with a few diet alterations) has done wonders for his numbers!
