A half way decent seat to see The Lion King in Atlanta in October of this year is as much as a one day ticket to Disney. Good grief!!

There’s a lottery site called Luckyseat that you can enter to buy last minute tickets for typically under $50 and they are usually good orchestra seats. Both performing arts theatres by us use the site to offer tickets. It not guaranteed you get picked however but it’s worth a shot if you want to see the show but don’t want to pay prevailing ticket prices. We have season tickets for the Broadway shows that come to our local theater and I will usually enter to try to get some extra seats for my teens as we only have two seats that renew annually for our subscription. I think I get extra lottery seats about 30% of the time.

My oldest daughter is already wanting to go now. I bet it is one of Disney's best shows they do.

Where would be the best site to buy tickets from for this show in Atlanta? Pre-sale starts June 6th, but other online ticket sellers, like Stub Hub can already sell them?🤔🤔 I'm confused.

It’s probably season ticket holders that have their seats already, they are annually renewed and in some get passed down in a family similar to sports season tickets. You would start looking for tickets through the website of the theater that has the show. It’s traveling this upcoming season as it is also part of our show lineup in South Florida.

Those tickets start pre sale on 6/6. But I could go through Stub Hub and get some now. Newbie here.

Do you happen to know anyone who has season tickets for the Broadway series at that theater? If so they get first dibs to buy extra tickets before they go on sale to the public. I have a few friends that always have me get extra tickets for the shows they want to see. I’m a buy direct from the source person because there’s usually a mark up with stub hub so I’d wait for the presale through the theater. Sign up for emails with the theater too and usually you will get sent the presale codes for all of the shows. The best seats at a lion king show are on the ends of the aisles on either side of the center orchestra section.

When we purchase tickets for the Fox, we just purchase on their website. If the seats you really want are too expensive, maybe try for some seats that aren’t quite as good.

That's the plan most likely.

Broadway shows or Broadway traveling shows are expensive and have been for decades, no doubt about that. That means we are really choosey about what we go see and don't see that many shows. A really good show, though, is one of my very favorite splurges (so uplifting), just like a fun theme part day is a splurge for me (so much fun).

I would NOT buy resale tickets (you really pay a premium). Buy from the official website for what is still an expensive ticket, but is a fair price. At the Fox theatre here in St. Louis (I am not a season ticket holder), I sign up for their mailing list and that let's me buy tickets a week or so before they go on sale to the general public. It lets me get a little better seats or an earlier choice for seats in a particular section.

The Lion King show is really good -- interesting costumes -- opera inspired. These are just my thoughts though, IMHO the story is so much like the animated movie, no new ground here so it's an expensive add on experience. I prefer Broadway shows that cover new ground, aren't based on a movie. My two favorite Broadway shows are "Les Miserable" and "Come From Away". Now Lion King is a great first show if you are wanting to take a child to see their first Broadway show and yes go if you really want to see it, see what all the hype is all about. But I would say skip it if you are balking at the prices and aren't in either of those other two categories. - just watch the movie and if you are at Animal Kingdom go see the little mini show, Festival of the Lion King, that is so much fun. The Broadway show FYI is the highest grossing Broadway show of all time -- has had staying power and mass appeal. My aunt was a HUGE fan of this show. She is deceased now, but OMG she went to see it with her husband five times. It really appeals to some people big time.

My son is a HUGE fan too. We took my son when he was six. He loved it, went again at 12 (really wanted to go so we caved and took him), went again at 18 (yes we caved and took him again when it was in our town), and then he went to see it again at age 25 when he was in New York. This and Wicked are his two favorite Broadway shows and the two shows he could see over and over. I have more of a one and done personality on things like this, as good as they are.

It was cute at six, DS didn't realize what a splurge it was to see Lion King and said "Mommy this was so good. Can we come back and see it again tomorrow?". I had to explain that these were really expensive tickets and that this was a special splurge, not something you do every day.

by any chance do the ads for the show name any local sponsors or 'supporters'? the broadway touring shows in our region are frequently sponsored by certain large credit unions and they have purchased blocks of tickets which members can purchase directly from them at a decent discount. we also have multiple colleges and universities near us that purchase blocks-students and alumni can purchase at a discount.

p.s. i don't know if the economy is impacting show attendance but we are signed up for mailing lists with the local theaters that do the touring shows and i'm finding more frequently that we get email blasts the week of for heavily discounted tickets due to lack of sales.

We are seeing this a lot in St. Louis too. The best seats are selling out on weekends, etc. but if you aren't as picky about the day you go or seats, there may be last minute deals to be had.

I usually go to the theatre on Saturday and am typically seeing full shows, but I am getting emails for deals more last minute frequently this year.

Planning for a Saturday around 2. Don't want to be in Atlanta at night.

Am I right though in thinking that the one, the only one show they have during the week, around 1 pm, would be the least popular show time frame for most guest?

i would think so-the weekday matinee performances are the ones we get e-mail blasts for reduced priced and student discounts so i'm guessing they sell out less (and it's not like lion king is a show where it makes a huge difference if the understudy is playing a role).

I signed up for the emails, pre-sale codes, ect. Do they generally send them to everyone who is signed up or is it luck of the draw? Like a Disney pin code discount?
