Lion King at AK compared to Broadway

Our family has seen Lion King twice...once in NYC with no kids...once in Boston with our son who was 3 at the time. He was absolutely mesmerized for a 7pm show...so it definitely depends on the child as to whether they will be able to sit for the whole thing (and DS is even Aspergers/ADHD

We prefer the broadway version hands down...while FOTLK was fine...I was a bit underwhelmed by the production. It was nice...but ehhhh. Nowhere near as entertaining as the broadway show. PLUS...having to deal with the nightmare that is the clogged narrow paths in Camp Minnie-Mickey and brave the gauntlet of retrieving your stroller...ugh. No thanks. Once was enough.

I've seen the Broadway production and must agree that it is amazing! I'm a huge Lion King fan anyway, but really, it's an enjoyable experience. I'm sorry I missed it when it came to Orlando recently (late 2006 or 2007 maybe?).

I wasn't impressed, however with FOTLK at AK, and can't understand what people see in it, to be honest. It's nothing special IMHO, but kids certainly enjoy it. Oh, and as a pp mentioned, navigating Camp Minnie Mickey is a nightmare.

For shows at AK, I prefer Finding Nemo, the musical.

4 (sometimes 3) spectacularly-talented singing "hosts."
An arial ballet performance.
Fire-dancing/eating.
Stilt-walkers/dancers.
Animal-Costumed dancers, whose routines run the gamut from African folk to 70s line-dances.
Amazing giant puppets of Pumba, Simba, a giraffe and an Elephant.
One of THE best up-beat and humorous performances by a character at any show at WDW (on or off-stage) by Timon.
The original voices of the Lion King characters.
Some wonder audience interaction, including bringing little ones out to march around with the show's dancers.
Full lighting, staging effects and first-rate digital audio playback.

Its a pretty terrific show...

(In My Opinion, of course.)

MONK-EEEEEEEEYS!

I love those guys! They are my favorite part. My boys (6 & 4) love the fire dancer.

I have both the FoTLK and the broadway show soundtracks on my iPod and my boys are constantly asking to listen to songs from them. We're going to the show in DC as well this summer and while it may a bit over the top for them, I'm hoping their love of the music will get them through it.

I'm a big Lion King fan, and the first time I saw FOTLK I was almost moved to tears (yes, I'm a nerd.) Last year I had the privilege of see the Broadway show, and though it pains me to say this, it blows FOTLK away. But that doesn't mean FOTLK isn't a great show, and I still love seeing it. It just lost a little of the wow factor after seeing the Broadway show.
