Linking UK Reservation with MDE

Does anyone know how long it takes until you can link a direct reservation with MDE?

When I booked before, I emailed them to get the "American reference" (as the CM on the phone called it) with the letters at the beginning.

Surely they still can't be giving us Brits reference numbers that aren't registering with the "add reservation" part of the site?

Am I doing something wrong, or do I need to wait a bit longer?

Just booked WL for August, and want to do the online check-in and customise our bands.

You will need to wait a few days. It is still not a completely seamless automated process unfortunately

Just checking as your tickers says POFQ - are you checking out of there to go to WL? If you are just staying a night and not checking out of POFQ you might not want to have 2 resort stays over lapping on one MDE account.

Yes, we're checking out of POFQ, going to a private villa, and then to WL.

Having spent too much time chatting to the CMs at IT the UK system doesn't seem to automatically talk to the US system that powers MDE. It seems to be done in batches and pushed across manually

We booked through Jet Save and got the Disney REF # on the confirmation.

Everything was linked in 2 or 3 days after.

I can also recommend Jet Save for been very well priced £1400 cheaper than Virgin and flying direct with Virgin from Manchester.

Also the Magic Express was included.

It took months before I could link mine (and numerous CMs told me they couldn't give me my US number yet)... and then all of a sudden, it went through with my UK number about 3 months after we booked!

That's exactly what happened to us too. It eventually linked about a week before our ADR booking window.

I booked direct on Friday and was told to wait 72 hours before trying to link. Of course, I did not do as I was told!!!
I tried on Saturday and it would not let me link. However, yesterday I did it!!! All linked, bands personalised and FP+ all booked
It does take a couple of days xxx

We booked with Expedia and it was a bit of a pain to get the MDE linked to our reservation. After doing some research online it seemed that Expedia needed to be called to request the Disney reference number. So I called Expedia and they spoke to the resort (Pop Century) who gave Expedia the reference number, and hey presto, all linked!

However, this process wasn't made clear at all, and if people aren't clued up about needing the Disney reference, MDE, Magic Bands and booking FP+ etc. then their pre-planning would likely be affected. Anyway, thats an issue for Expedia when people book a WDW holiday with them!

There was a delay on the OKW bookings but I don't really understand why.

I haven't tried to link ours yet as I don't want any more tickets on there to confuse them when I try to do my AP upgrades!

From WDTC-UK FAQ, OKW/SSR bookings are not in the MDX system until 10 months out.
so as it appears, no linking before that.

I’m staying at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs – why can’t I link my reservation?

If you’re still more than 10 months away from your holiday arrival date and are staying at Disney’s Old Key West Resort or Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa your reservation may not have yet downloaded to My Disney Experience to be linked. Rest assured your reservation is guaranteed, but until you’re within 10 months of arrival it unfortunately can’t be linked in My Disney Experience.

I'm at OKW next August and have linked. But, must admit I did email them, then ended up calling them to get it sorted. Was all a bit odd as they said they'd have to look into it, and mentioned the 10 month thing, then I got a phone call the next day to say it was all linked .

Not much you can do once it's on there but I regularly go in and change my magic band colour .
