Linking Flight Bookings

Has anyone ever had any experience at linking two bookings together? Do you all end up being able to sit together - would like to avoid sitting one at the front, two at the back or something?!

when i worked for Virgin Atlantic I did this all the time, the check in staff at the airport can see that they are linked so should be able to sit you together, I dont know how it works with online check in though

We had to do this a couple of years ago on VA when we had two flights using bmi miles and DD's paid for in cash. When you do OLCI, there is a message asking if you have another booking you wish to link with, and just enter the locator number. We all ended up sitting together.

Yes we linked bookings (& had email confirmation), no we weren't able to sit together, olci wasn't working, airport staff were not interested
