Linked Reservations question

We will be checking in 2 weeks from Saturday for 4 nights in a studio at VWL. The first 2 nights are booked with our points and the last 2 nights are booked with our friends' points. The 2 reservations are linked together, and the confirmation MS emailed me shows a single 4 night stay. She said the front desk will see it that way and we will not have to change rooms. Great.

The issue now is we decided to add the DDP after securing reservations at Chef Mickey's, 'Ohana, Crystal Palace and Teppan Edo. (both our kids are under age 9) I just added it to the nights booked with our points online, and I emailed our friend to have him do the same.

Now for my question: will having the DDP on both reservations require us to check out/back in at the front desk when the second reservation starts? Thanks for any help.....

There are so many varying reports of problems with similar situations that I doubt it could be said for sure. Maybe you'll be lucky and won't have to but there are people that have had to. I'd be prepared for the latter.

Thank you for the reply! I was getting a complex, lol. I think you are right and we will plan to have to stop by the lobby to check out/back in. Perhaps we'll get lucky and they can slide new keys under our door. We'll find out soon enough!

I've done linked points reservations and never had to checkout/checkin. It was treated as one reservation.

It depends on whether the new computer system is still as screwed up as it was in June when we went. Under old system, you would not have needed to do anything as long as everything was the same (type of room, name of guest, DDP on both if you have it) for the two reservations. The hotel would have treated it all as one reservation and thus you checked in once and got room keys once and everything was fine thereafter.

In June, we found out that though we would not have to change rooms, on the changeover date of the two reservations we had to get new room keys, a new parking pass, reapply our credit card to the second reservation, I.e., do another check-in. When we asked why we had to do that when we did not do so in the past, they told us that it was because the new computer system refused to recognize the link of the reservations and they could not figure how to get the system to do otherwise.
